Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 21/12 to 27/12 chart Does Ben have that something you need to go all night? It's Christmas Chart Week and following the announcement that Ben Haenow was the winner of the 11th series of X Factor, his cover of OneRepublic's 'Something I Need' is favourite to reach the famous Christmas #1. The race seems incredibly quiet in comparison to previous years, with charity single 'All Together Now' by The Peace Collective and Facebook campaign song 'Number of the Beast' by Iron Maiden not performing as well on iTunes as expected. Also, considering the amount of physicals shifted last week, it doesn't seem likely that Band Aid 30 will sell enough to beat Ben Haenow and return to #1. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk' should only fall to #2 this week with further big sales whilst Olly Murs/Demi Lovato's 'Up' and Gorgon City/Jennifer Hudson's 'Go All Night' should accompany them in the Top 10. The former was performed on the X Factor final, along with Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me', One Direction's 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go?' and Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph' which all look set to climb/enter the Top 40. In the albums, Ed Sheeran should remain at #1 with possibly over 200k sales - which would be a record high for 2014 replacing, well, himself. Last week's Top 10 should stay relatively the same with even bigger sales, with the highest new entry probably coming from Nicki Minaj's third album The Pinkprint followed by 5 Seconds of Summer's live album LIVESOS and D'Angelo & The Vanguard's Black Messiah. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday, however they may come from other sources - this is not always guaranteed. Is that an actual new album from D'Angelo then? I thought there'd have been more fuss about that.

Nicki Minaj is currently number 2 on itunes album charts but my guess is Ed Sheeran or Sam Smith will top the album charts

Unless Nicki's album is planning on being sold to 200k+ this week, it's not going to be #1!

Am I right in believing that Up's actual official release in terms of having a digital EP or whatever format it will be released in isn't actually until this Sunday/next week? I think it will climb to #4 this week; obviously Ben and Mark/Bruno will be in the top two but Ed has several versions of TOL charting as well as those ever high streams despite Up being higher on iTunes. These Days should complete the top five.
Ed Sheeran #1 in albums easily with way over 200k+ also easily; I actually think some members could be potentially surprised at how much he will sell. Sam #2; as previously stated this week's top ten will pretty much be the same as last week although I wouldn't count Paloma Faith climbing back in out. Nicki will start off higher in midweeks and then erode as the week progresses. It's a shame -- her album is excellent and ten times better than the mess that was Roman Reloaded, but she couldn't have chosen a worse time to release and the album doesn't have a current hit to hype it. Low top twenty at best I think, potentially top thirty. Remember when Britney Jean was at 1 on iTunes last December yet it flopped badly in the end and mislead people into thinking it could chart higher than expected? I foresee a very similar situation here. This post has been edited by MrIndependent: 16th December 2014, 12:05 PM |

I really hope Mark Ronson can hold on at number one but I think its incredibly unlikely. Nicki Minaj won't make album number one. She doesn't have enough widespread appeal. She will fade as the week progresses. I hope Take That can stay top 5 in the singles.

Sam Smith's album In The Lonely Hour and single Stay With Me both set to pass 1 million before the end of the year, surely?

I wonder how many copies Ben Haenow has sold so far. 74,663 copies! There's a chance the winners single might be pushed to no. 2 by a record that was only released because it was performed on the Xfactor. Simon Cowell may have actually knackered his winner's chance of a number 1. It all depends on how much of a first day bump Ben Haenow got, if he tails off Uptown Funk isn't that far behind and selling well. Sheeran sold 54,647 albums yesterday, |
