Ella Eyre gets a third number one
Congratulations to Ella Eyre, whose song Together climbs to the top of the chart. Together first entered at #15 eight weeks ago, climbing to #10 the following week. It then fell to #16, and to #18, where it remained three weeks. It fell just one place afterwards, before climbing 12 places to #7, from which it got to number one this week. Together is the second number one on this chart to miss the official the top 10, and the second-lowest officially peaking number one, after What Kind Of Man, which sadly only reached number 37. It spent seven weeks at number one here, and falls three places to #6 this week. Years & Years hold firm at number two with Shine, while Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel are knocked off number one, going down to #3. Following the Irish gay marriage vote, which had an outcome of 70% of people voting Yes, two songs relating to gays are boosted in the chart. Bronski Beat's 1984 classic Smalltown Boy, which tells the story of a gay teenager, climbs 2 places to reach a new peak of #4. Hozier's massive hit Take Me To Church, which vents his frustration at the Catholic Church and its stance on homosexuality, climbs 5 places to #35. The top 5 is completed by Cheerleader, down 1 place. King goes down 2 places to #7, while See You Again remains static at #9. We have two songs climbing in the top 10, Fade To Grey, which is up 4 from #12 to #8, and Lean On, which is up 6 from #16 to #10. Other entries There are two new entries in the top 40, and the names of the artists who made them both start by Ga... At number 11 we have Light Up The Dark, the title track to Gabrielle Aplin's second album. She previously has had two songs finish in the year-end top 10, with The Power Of Love being #8 of 2012 and Please Don't Say You Love Me being #2 of 2013. At number 13 we have Swedish duo Galantis with their UK number four hit Runaway (You & I). Florence + The Machine enter at #46 with Delilah, from their third album How Big How Blue How Beautiful, which is out on Monday. Charli XCX enters at #79 with Red Balloon, from the Home soundtrack. The final new entry this week is Bad Blood by Bastille, at #91. We have two re-entries at #83 and #92. At #83 we have Spandau Ballet's number 2 hit Gold, while at #92 from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack we have Earned It by The Weeknd. High Climbers and New Peaks From #18 to #20 we have three songs improving peaks. These songs are Stronger, which previously peaked at #25, Don't Give Up On Us, which previously peaked at #22, and Dear Future Husband, which previously peaked at #29. Big Girls Cry rebounds 18 places to #52. Parklife climbs 14 places to #64, while Talking Body climbs 16 places to #66. Also, Ed Sheeran's Photograph climbs 8 places to #73. The biggest climber this week is Bills, which jumps 31 places from #84 to #53. The biggest faller this week, Hot Chocolate's You Sexy Thing, slides two places more, going down from #52 to #85. Great to see Lean On peaking even more and Bills/Talking Body entering Sad to see I Wanna Feel go though. Was an amazing dance tune last year! Lean On is now top 10, Bills is at 53 and Talking Body at 66. As for I Wanna Feel, well, nothing can be in my chart forever. |
