BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ POINTLESS! [Chart Forum Quizzes S2E1]

POINTLESS!

Here is the first quiz of the season and to start us off it is a Pointless round!

There are a few questions below.
Your main aim is to provide an answer that nobody else will have provided.
If you get one of these answers you score no points (you are pointless).
If you provide an answer that one other poster has said, you both score one point.
The winner of the round will be whoever scores the least amount of points.
You must answer all of them correctly as there will be a penalty for providing an incorrect answer (based on the number of participants).
Loophole answers won't be allowed (the chart means the Official UK singles chart and not any other chart, artists must have scored hits as the performer rather than a songwriting/production credit).

Send your answers to me via PM.

Now let's look a the questions.

Name a...

1. dance music producer or group who has had at least five UK top 40 hits
2. boyband member as a soloist who achieved a UK top 40 hit.
3. top 40 hit that Rihanna was the featured artist on.
4. artist who is a "proper" one hit wonder of the 21st century (one #1 single, absolutely no other top 40 hits)
5. top 10 hit credited to Avicii.
6. artist who achieved a #1 single in two separate decades or more
7. #1 hit of 1997 (my birth year!)
8. #1 hit achieved by a girl group.
9. finalist of the X Factor (UK) who achieved a top 10 hit, who did not win the show.
10. #1 hit credited to Calvin Harris

Notes:
1 - I will be the judge of what is considered as such
2 - the boyband may either remain active or have split
3 - I.e. X Artist feat. Rihanna (& Y Artist)
6 - A decade as in defined decades (2010-2019, 2000-2009, etc). - not just any period of ten years.
9 - anyone who made it to the live shows

You have until Saturday 04 April 23:59 British Time to send me your votes. Results will be unveiled on Sunday.

Voted! With the XF question, I assume you mean finalist as in made it to the final rather than who made it to live shows... laugh.gif

Yeah I'd like some clarity on that one laugh.gif

X factor finalists is anyone who made it to the live shows ie anyone who could have been on an x factor finalists charity single.
I’ll accept an answer change if that wasn’t clear.

Submitted!

Really interesting set of questions, very much looking forward to the results!

Ok I might change my answer. So can we name an act featured on one of the charity singles or do they have to be credited individually? laugh.gif

I assume that the internet is allowed to be used?

they have to have had a hit credited to themselves - they can’t just have had the charity hit.

16 sets of answers in today.

I've had a couple of loophole attempts already, specifically regarding 'artists must have scored hits as the performer rather than a songwriting/production credit' - here's your one reminder that I won't be accepting loophole answers (I'll let you change if you see this).

I should also add, for the boybands question, it has to be a group that are actually considered to be a boyband.
