At the end of the day, the app voting renders the televoting results practically useless. Analysis showed that Frans was a landslide televoting winner last year on the scale of Mans but that turned into a bonus of just 25 points over second placed Wiktoria. It's all about who the international jury will support and only when its very close will the televoting play a part. You'd imagine international fans will be desperate to vote for Loreen, I'm beginning to think she's got it in the bag. ...of all the weeks to say this, after Owe just overturned three competitors who killed it on the app vote almost solely through the phone vote?! |

Owe seems to be a bit of a special case but he'll never be able to catch up a 50+ point deficit he'll get after the juries! For him to do that he'll have to manage double the landslide Frans had which would be impossible surely.
The televoting points in the final were 68-45-43-43-39-37-36-35-35-33-31-28 so there's pretty much zero variation there from 2nd to 12th and even the Frans "landslide" (I call it that as some maths analysis showed his victory to be the same as Mans in terms of deviation from the means or something) only got him an extra 23 points. Whereas the same size victory for Mans got him 78 points extra when the app vote didn't level things out. EDIT: I was talking about the televoting results including the app voting and phone voting in one catch-all, just as an overall thing. I wasn't saying the phone voting was useless in comparison to the app vote! Just once we get to the final the international jury has so much more power than the public vote. |

Oh I take the point entirely on standard deviation - and if there's still no clear frontrunner then I think whoever wins the jury vote probably has it in the bag - but I don't think the televote can be *entirely* ruled out on the basis of one year's evidence.

Yep that's fair enough! Of the finalists we have so far I don't think any have enough support to do a Frans and gain enough of a gap to potentially overturn a poor jury score. But that could all change with heat 4 of course.

I'm fairly sure the heart was going crazy for Owe as well, so I wouldn't call it *solely* down to the phone votes.

Loreen and Wikki go DTFwith Axel and Jon Henrik to AC? Les Gordons 5th, Alice 6th and poor Sara dead last. Such an easy heat

Loreen already has taken over Nano in the win odds and she herself is odds-on in places. I thought she'd get a hard time from Eurofans in that it will be nearly impossible to match 'Euphoria' but it seems to be an overwhelmingly positive reaction so far, we just need the rest of the song to build on that fab first minute.
Even Sweden's odds are now shortening in the Eurovision win market. |

It still won't touch 'Euphoria' (well, it doesn't sound like it will to me) but this sounds so fresh by Eurovision standards, that it'll win people over!

That clip of Loreen's perf does seem to suggest she's going to be unstoppable.

All she seems to have brought is that INTOLERABLE HOWL as far as I can hear. WOULD'VE PREFERRED EARPLUGS SORRY Total agreement. And I LOATHED Save Me. The whole projection thing was a total mess also. Urgh, hated it. But... Loreen. She's basically gonna slay the shit out of this, eh? It's living up to its name sake just by the snippet. I really have to wait two days more? This post has been edited by ScottyEm: Feb 23 2017, 05:50 PM |

As I Lay Me Down sounds like an absolute bop, this could surprise. Of course we all know her and Loreen were going DTF since the names were announced lmao, but I mean surprise in the whole thing. I don't think we've known that at all with Jon Henrik in the mix! There hasn't been a heat this decade with two 100% female acts going DTF Wiktoria sounds like she's joining Dinah Nah, Ace, Mariette and Robin in the 'improvement on the last thing they entered' category |

Only Loreen could vanquish all competition without even giving us her chorus *.*

The thing is apparently there is no clear chorus in the song so I wonder if there is going to be any hook or if it is just going to be a visual spectacle!
