We all suspected it after it was pushed on album release week, but Dua has now confirmed she's filmed the music video for New Rules on Twitter and says it is the best music video she's ever done!
HYPED. Obviously one of the best tracks on the album so I hope this can do good things chart-wise.
YES
YES (x2)
yas bish yas
Hoping it smashes!
Took me a few listens to get into this one but it's a great single choice. One of the only viable ones, really. Am I the only one who wishes Bad Together would get a release? I know it won't happen, but...
The music video comes out this Friday.
such a good video. is there something different about this version of the song?
What an absolutely brilliant video, I love it!!
I like the song too, not my favourite from her but certainly better than 'Lost in Your Light'. The only part I can't fully warm to is the post-chorus/drop/whatever it is.
Brilliant video and choreography !
omg slay me Dua
She just kills me effortlessly :rip:
Amazing video! This song really must be huge.
This is such an earworm! Love it!
The video is perfection! She really pulled out all the stops
This is the best video in absolutely AGES and potential song of the year. If it's not #1 everywhere for 84 weeks let's just cancel the music industry tbh x
I can't stop watching the music video!!
Yeah agreed it's a great vid - cos she is smoking hot!
Decent track too, miles better than that Light song.
Looking forward to seeing another big hit for Dua Lipa. Perhaps the last one of this era?
After 3 or 4 listens I am loving this, and I don't usually like her!
Excellent video too. Well done Dua!
agree with everybody amazing amazing video
Only 2 pages for this mega bop with it's perfect video? What's going on, buzzjack? I need this to SMASH. Is any station playing this yet?
I'm so confused.
Did she re-release the album?
There's only 5 reviews on the Deluxe version on iTunes?
I must admit I only briefly listened to her album, lost in your light put me off!
This is one of the best songs of the year for me, classy pop classic in the making!
Idk why but I think she deleted and re-uploaded, I noticed on my Apple Music that it was saying the songs were unavailable so I deleted and re-added the album, idk why that happened and I don't think the album is any different?
She's corrected the tracklist! The deluxe edition on UK iTunes had a different tracklist to the standard + worldwide editions, they've fixed it now thankfully.
this is such a tune!
if only she kept releasing stuff like this and 'be the one' and less rubbish miguel duets and similar songs no one cares for!
Only just listening to this via snippets on Twitter and it's quite an ear worm!!
This got added to Today's Top Hits! Hoping she gets a big boost on Spotify.
Love this. Dua's best single yet and love the video. Hope it does well!
I wonder when this impacts?
Hmm... It's Ok. I'm not loving it though (the song). The video is very good, if a bit overrated. I dunno, something is just lacking for me with her and I really can't put my finger on what it is!
I've decided I'll just give her album a go tomorrow, see if that helps out a bit more. I just think she's overrated in general tbh. Like, she has some good songs, but nowhere near the levels that bloggers/forumers like others to believe, imo
The music video's got 17,000,000 views in the first week and nearly 500,000 likes on YouTube! Amazing. It's gonna be HUGE.
Yeah. The video has been such a massive success! (I've also grown to really like the song, but the album just feels a bit samey to me </3)
Some guys have already recreated it too!
https://twitter.com/jakewil/status/885619377076224004/video/1
Ahh, the song took a while to click but the second I saw that video made me fall in love. It really is a brilliant video, I love the repeat scene during the chorus and how it slightly changes each time.
Dua Lipa singles rank:
1 Last Dance (I feel like the only person who really adores this, it'll take a lot to top this for me because this is still way out in front in my rank).
2 Be the One
3 New Rules
4 Hotter than Hell
5 Blow Your Mind (Mwah!) (I couldn't get over that annoying 'mwah' bit to be honest )
6 Lost In Your Light (This was just plain dull really, I wouldn't turn it off in the background but I'd barely take notice of it in the first place...)
Should I give the album a listen?! (I like all of the top four, the bottom two are a bit shit tbh) but I'm worried the album might be a bit samey and boring...
She always releases a summer JAM. Last year it was Hotter Than Hell, now this
An incredible music video. One of the best in a long time.
I'd say this looks set to be huge.
I'm thinking a strong top 20 hit. Probably as big as Hotter Than Hell?
The music video is pretty good but I'm still not convinced with the song, still sounds like good album track territory. I think it's just the chorus I find so underwhelming compared to the rest of the track.
A Dua rate after the Selena and Demi Ines maybe? (Please Tiameron )
Purchased the vinyl and it is so pretty I don't want to play it
We're not doing any album rates for now, singles rates for more established artists are much better and attract more people.
Picking up nicely on Spotify - liking this.
Saw this on Popjustice and thought it was a parody but apparently it's a REAL VIDEO WITH NON COMEDIC INTENTIONS
"Dua Lipa meets her two fans"
https://www.facebook.com/unboundxhyatt/videos/1907362986193849/
I think this could be my fave by her now! It's so infectious and surely a huge hit in the waiting?
48,000,000 views in the space of two weeks
She is really great artist! I think that a lot of her video is awesome) And this video is no exception.
Be great if it could keep this near halving theme going and make top ten next week
I can't believe how fast this has taken off. Before the video I didn't think it would do anything. Then I saw the reaction of the video and thought it would actually be a cute little hit. Then I went on holiday for 10 days and went I returned it was already in the Top 40
Predicting top 3/5 for this. Top 20 already without A-list support or promo!
@cqmerqn
Top 10 on Spotify and iTunes! It's climbed on Spotify in a way that most pop songs struggle to do, and airplay is only now starting to make a significant airplay. I'm so glad this is going to be her biggest hit, because it's her best.
Up to 6 now on I-tunes
I'm so happy for Dua and the success she currently has after the mess of rollout her self-titled album had. At this point, I guess it's a guarantee that "New Rules" will reach the Top 10, but I hope it could go a little higher (Top 3, preferably) to be honest.
I'm mad at myself for not checking her out sooner. One of the few new pop stars to actually captivate me in a while. Her album is excellent on first listens. Is this making waves in America at all?
yes it's top 50 on US Spotify
Well I'm stanning now. 'New Rules' is the most captivating music videos I've seen since 'Toxic', tbh. It's original, authentic and exactly what first class pop culture should be about.
That female unity has me shook, so flawlessly done.
Awe Tyler
I saw her live last year and she is amazing...she owned the stage and felt like she does this for decades and not as a new comer.
This is legit one of the best pop songs I have EVER heard, no wonder it is smashing.I just can't get enough of this, it's really something special.
only in 2017 could this be the 7th single from the album and it not be from a re-release! just imagine where she'd be if they had this track (& video) at the beginning.
I feel like this was one of the rushed on songs they added after the millionth push back, but thank god tbh To think this has an actual shot at #1 when you think about is INSANE, but for a 7th single even top 5 or top 10 and the huge hit it will surely be is still incredible and should set her up well for next era. I knew it was too good not to smash but I'm still bowled over by how well it's doing so quickly.
All you need is one break through smash.
This is it. Work Bitch.
Still can't make out what the lyrics are. Someone's been to the Ariana Grande school of pronunciation.
"I got new rules amcamdam"?
'Cause, you know, she counts the rules out!
1. Don't pick up the phone..
2. Don't let him in..
3. Don't be his friend..
AMCAMDAM
LMAO.
The scene in the first chorus where they are doing the choreography in the hotel hall... "I got new rooms I count em".
best moment in the video is when she opens the curtains and is suddenly by the pool, right?
my fav bit of the video is the dressing gown leaning scenes!!!!!
one of the best pop song / video packages i can recall in the past few years
##01 pls
!!
I'm so happy with how this is properly taking off. She felt somewhat destined to join the likes of Marina as a "nearly but not quite" kind of name but this being a big hit (and righfully so) sets her up very well for the future.
I'm also so glad that this proves that a music video is still important in days where they seem to getting abandoned.
Seeing this as high as #18 in WW spotify charts, it makes my eyes teary...so happy that she is having this success on her own merits!!!
Don't think I ever posted about the video in here but it's stellar. The fabulous choreography keeps me hooked throughout the entire duration, it's so satisfying as well as the warm feeling of unity conveyed. What a way to sell the song.
Dua's career in the singles chart thus far has been such a rollercoaster, with Be The One/Last Dance not doing much, then Hotter Than Hell and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) going top 40 for her, then Be The One actually turning out to be a successful re-release giving her a top 10, as well as 'No Lie' also going top 10 on top of the Garrix duet doing well, then the Miguel duet flopping alongside album release, and now here we are again with this making waves!! I would be over the moon if this could smash all the way to #1. Its performance is already mighty impressive for a post album-single so late after 'Be The One' was first trying to crack the chart.
#amcamdambrigade
This may have already been posted but in case it hasn't, behind the scenes:
The one two three thing in it reminds me of 'Instruction' a bit.
Its a good song, can see why it is doing well but I still prefer Blow My Mind (Mwah).
I haven't seen a single person dislike this song, it's bloody incredible to see what she's done with it
Top 5 is guaranteed next week at this point, hopefully it will go higher
Must be #1. I will riot.
shocker
It's going to be #1 next week! 99% sure of it.
The first female lead #1 since Little Mix SOTME and the first solo female number 1 since Adele 'Hello'!!! Amazing
When's the last time an American female had a solo #1?
Off the top of my head I expect it was Rachel Platten.
Wrong topic!
lets make the most of the ONE week at #1 this'll get 'cause Bieber is going to smash well over 40k next week lol fml
So this increased its lead in the mids today, Pink down to #3, and it now has an almost 2k advantage over Feels. It's really going to happen!
Omg I'm actually going to listen to the chart to see this incredible moment live, I don't think I have ever wanted a song to be #1 so bad When my faves get #1s it' usually bc they're already a huge act who'll be likely to get one, to see this build as we've all said time and again was incredible.
It feels kind of....'weird' her getting the #1 if that makes any sense, it feels like she was always like a cult pop fav, like the gays as well as huge pop enthusiasts loved her but the GP was only half-bothered.
Nah that does make sense, I agree somewhat, in a year like this it feels like such an anomaly of a #1 They've all been big established artists or at least featuring a big established artists, like Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles or Justin Bieber who could get virutally anything to #1 pre-album because of all the hype around them, so it's been so exciting to follow New Rules building naturally and getting bigger and bigger.
I had a feeling this might end up being a Run Away With Me kinda situation - loved by the online gays but the general public don't really take to it. I've never been so happy to be proved wrong! Really excited for this to be announced as #1, it's so well deserved.
Surely this has to be one of the best turn arounds ever? It's the perfect pop package, and so deserved.
I was completely indifferent to her before the video, it's star making. I really hope they keep building from here and she becomes massive.
Watch as Justin Bieber clears 50k on Thursday and takes her #1 now lmao imagine :/
I saw the iTunes thread and was like oh don't be silly but I think more and it's not even out of the realms of possibility If anyone could do those numbers in that time it's Justin. I'll be so pissed off if that happens, especially as this is the only chance Dua has and he'll be #1 for like 11 weeks now lmao
As much as I hope Biebers track is a bop, Dua just has to have #1 for at least a week!
Ahhh. That didn't even cross my mind... I don't think he'll do quite THAT much though. At least I hope he doesn't. Really nervous now tbh. So much so that I think I'm gonna hold off streaming JB's song for a few hours haha. #Petty #IDGAF
Ha, you'll be fine streaming it! Remember Thursday's data is estimated, so Bieber will have 0 streams for the week Just don't buy til Friday!!
The video just passed 100m views on YouTube *.* Only taken just over a month!!!
Phenomenal goes to show what a good video does for you! Hope it encourages artists to stop being lazy, too many are released months after a song has peaked these days.
It's top 40 on US spotify too! And #10 globally.
Yeah. This will be a US hit. I'm really confident in that.
It'd be AMAZING if she got this to top 40 on Billboard
-x-
also I wouldn't worry about it being #1, even Little Mix only managed 24k in one day on iTunes, so I doubt Justin will do double that in a third of the time!
New UK streaming amount peak of 423,954, for the first time beating Despacito's combined effort of 412,111!
HUGE!
#8 (+2) on Spotify Global!
WOW
Global ICON.
Today's mids:
25,494 NEW RULES
22,418 FEELS
21,297 WHAT ABOUT US
19,638 WILD THOUGHTS
19,471 DESPACITO (REMIX)
Omg
SHE'S GOT IT IN THE BAG *.*
(also yay at P!nk nearly having #3 on lock )
Bieber thoughhhh... can you guys honestly not see him clearing 40k in 7hrs?
I really can't! Maybe he would if he had Spotify to help but he doesn't with a Thursday release.
I'm more confident he won't now Joseph pointed out that Thursday streams are estimated so he won't have any Combined he deffo could but sales in this climate I just can't see it.
Dua ended Bieber!
I can see Bieber going #1. Sales are so low. Can see him pushing the #2 down to 0.1
Incredible that for the 6th single it's heading for #1.
It just occurred to me that everything is mis-numbered and this is in fact 8th single?!?! :')
01 New Love
02 Be The One
03 Last Dance
04 Hotter Than Hell
05 Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
06 Be The One [re-release]
07 Lost In Your Light
08 New Rules
When was the last time an 8th single went to #1?
Amazing to see her achieve global success with this! Couldn't be happier for her
Dua up to 32.5k now, still at #1. With unweighted streaming added in, she's looking at around 42k tomorrow. Come on #1!
Almost there guys!
1 32,517 NEW RULES DUA LIPA
2 28,125 FEELS HARRIS/PHARRELL/PERRY/BIG SEAN
3 25,810 WHAT ABOUT US PINK
4 25,038 WILD THOUGHTS DJ KHALED FT RIHANNA/TILLER
5 25,002 UNFORGETTABLE FRENCH MONTANA FT SWAE LEE
Symphony didn't fall much when it got taken off 59p after being #1, so I'd expect this to be the same! A couple of red updates on Friday but it'll stabilise eventually, it's an established hit now.
I expect it to be #2 or #3. Its still pulling ahead on Spotify and WT and Unforgettable are on ACR next week I believe
Ok the Justin selling 40k in 7 hours thing was us getting WAY ahead of ourselves so she's got her number 1
So happy for her. Looking forward to this being confirmed officially tomorrow!
Can't WAIT for the moment this is announced as #1, safe to say the Chart Show thread will be in a bit of a meltdown x
Also, next week I'm gonna predict the chart will look something like this...
1. Justin Bieber - Friends
2. Calvin Harris - Feels
3. Dua Lipa - New Rules
4. J Balvin - Mi Gente
5. P!nk - What About Us
Can see her staying in the top 3, but if she gets taken off 59p then I suppose Calvin could slip past her... just. It'd be lovely if she were to stay at #2 tho
Today's the day!
She did it! Officially #1!
YAAAAAAAAAAAS QUEEN
QUEEN
She did it OMG
and when did we get a forum for Dua
OMG her bday is next week, so is mine
SO HAPPY
We love legends.
Such a great result for her.
Could potentially be #1 next week too
YES DUA!
A deserved number 1! Such a journey for her and the album! Just proves that a great video is just as umportant as the song now! The video went viral pretty quickly and I saw everybody loving it!
It wasn't in doubt all week but yes Dua *.* Incredible achievement for her!
Congrats Queen!
Thoroughly deserved, so happy for her! What a song.
She deserves it!!! I'm so glad Lost In Your Light never killed her career
SO HAPPY FOR HER
Yasss <3 best #1 in ages and so glad Dua made it Finally we have A BOP at #1 *.*
I genuinely thought she was gonna really struggle at the start of this year, so happy for her <3 After finding the song a bit 'meh' I'm really coming round to it now!!
I really haven't seen such a turnaround in a career before, after 'Blow Your Mind (Mwah!)' scraped Top 30, I thought she wouldn't do much better, then I saw 'Be The One' do well which I thought was a one off but here she is at #01
Headed for a second week at #1, beating Little Mix and Justin Bieber
She's still number 1 on Spotify, and not far behind Bieber on iTunes. He's debuted at 6 on Spotify, I guess it depends how he climbs but he's done disappointingly on itunes. LM are only 28 on Spotify thus far so it's looking good for her.
Great to see this at number one, huge achievement for her and she seems really pleased about it too.
Would love if it somehow stopped Bieber going to number one this week but I think that's too much to ask.
Yeah I think her weekend streaming will keep her on top. 446,362 is a new stream peak for her.
Little Mix aren't even on Hot Hits and Bieber is the last song while she remains at the top.
Nothing is challenging her on Spotify, so we'll certainly be getting another week at #1! Our queen blocking Bieber and Little Mix!
New Spotify peak with 457k
I think the twitter meme with New Rules is helping it a little bit!
I was elated with one week, bht how incredible for her to block new releases from probably the biggest UK act atm and one of the biggest in the world!!!
New Rules worldwide sales so far:
Silver certification is coming for New Rules very soon.
Edit: Australia should get gold certification by next week.
Omg almost Gold in Aus as well! *.*
How in the world has this sold 25k in The Netherlands already??
Only "one of" not THE, how dare you spout such heresy
It's sold 195k in the UK! The album and New Rules will both go Silver next Friday and Be The One will go Plat either next week or the week after!
1 Dua Lipa - New Rules (28.2k)
2 Justin Bieber & BloodPop® - Friends (23.0k) *
3 CNCO & Little Mix - Reggaetón Lento (21.2k) *
4 P!nk - What About Us (20.7k)
5 Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean - Feels (20.1k)
It's huge for her to stop a new Bieber song *.*
She'd be #1 even without ACR in the mids right now!
A genuine #1 after all *.*
I'm so glad this got in as a #1 before Taylor released. Being the first female #1 since Hello is such a good accolade for an artist of Dua's status.
Two weeks at #1 and another week in the albums top 10 Slaying!
Yesss, so pleased. A real #1 this week too as even without ACR she'd be #1!
Up to 4 on GLOBAL SPOTIFY!!
Fantastic that she's got a 2nd week at #1.
Asking a lot though that she'll beat Taylor next week.
First official remix was released today:
Funnily enough, it actually made me think of "What You Made Me Do" when I heard it.
So pleased that she's #1 for a 2nd week! To deny a #1 entry for Justin Bieber of all artists, who'd have ever thought? Also yay at it being an "old rules" #1 this week, nice to know it wasn't #1 on a technicality (like Feels & Wild Thoughts).
Ugh, I wish Taylor would release this later so she could have another week. But maybe the following week she can take it back?
Back to #1 on Spotify
Crazy!! Well done Dua!
YASSSS, I'm so glad it re-took #1 after 1 day. Amazing.
Yesss at the New Rules VMAs promo!
So after four days, Dua is leading Taylor on Spotify by ~51,000! Hopefully she can grab another week at #1 on streaming songs before taking back the official #1 next week! Although she's now down to #4 on iTunes behind the "More than Friends" shite.
#2 in the mids. Quite comfortably.
I'm really happy to see Dua Lipa New Rules really hold up well and even have back to back #1 battle with Taylor this week.
Pretty huge to see her holding off Taylor on Spotify! Amazing!
Added to Z100, the biggest US radio station!
New Rules on Spotify:
Spotify:
#2 United Kingdom
#2 Netherlands
#3 Australia
#4 Worldwide
#4 Norway
#6 Germany
#8 Denmark
#11 Sweden
#13 Philippines
#14 Canada
#15 Brazil
#15 Finland
#24 France
#25 Mexico
#28 United States
#49 Italy
#51 Spain
#57 Argentina
Actual smash hit! It's really coming in the US *.*
yes!!!!!!!! now she needs some good promo slots
Ends the week second on Spotify, only 176,000 streams behind Taylor - really impressive! She's close to (re-)overtaking again though tomorrow, it's possible that she'll be back at #1 next week - she's STILL doing over double of P!nk is
Dua get her first top 5 hit in NZ.
http://nztop40.co.nz/chart/singles?chart=4394
Omg! I had no idea it was doing well there! Wasn't Be The One a hit there or Aus?
That was Australia, it was huge there and it's 2x Platinum. I think in NZ Be The One only got to something like #20.
#3 on Spotify worldwide
This has a new US peak of #67, her highest peaking single yet. Disappointed it's not higher but hoping it takes off properly soon.
I can't remember the last time I've seen a song so universally liked, a lot of my friends who generally don't even like pop music like this. It's quite remarkable.
It's radio in the US is still quite steady, it's #33 on pop and up to 54 on iTunes there. 27 on Spotify too. American radio takes sooooo long though.
Our Queen blocked Sam Smith from #1 on Spotify!
Don't let him in. Don't. Don't. Don't. Dont.
Yes *.*

Almost #1 in Holland (just 2% difference)!
Coming to slay Taylor this week, holding at #2 for a third week behind Sam Smith!
This is dropping in American audience on Radio now, why can't America radio stan female talent?!
American radio can be very fickle. I wouldn't be too bothered about a few negative updates, it could still very well take off
double post
Yeah. I have a feeling this is going to be massive in the US. I really can't see it not going top 30 at the very least! She seems to be garnering a lot of support.
Finally grabbed that Dutch number 1 *.*
Oh my god! Global queen!
Okay it's properly starting to climb on American radio again now...this could happen.
New peak of 22 on US Spotify! Lagging behind at #60 on iTunes but it's not terrible.
Up to 56 on the Billboard Hot 100
Global $ma$h hit!!!
YEsss her US radio updates are getting really big now!

This is now #2 on Global Spotify, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been higher than #3 before now as it was stuck behind "Mi Gente" then "Look What You Made Me Do" for ages. It's nowhere close to #1 unfortunately but I'm still so impressed that she's continuing to climb with it.
That's really impressive!!
Jonathan Ross next Saturday, presumably performing this!
I'd rather they start pushing something new now
Is anyone else just how surprised how strongly this is holding up? Without ACR it probably would have mustered up a MEGA top 10 run and even with it soon coming into effect all those weeks top 3 is seriously impressive stuff. Whereas the likes of Taylor Swift drops like a stone

Officially Top 20 on Pop.
Gold in the US and climbs 5 to 48 on the Billboard Hot 100!
It's really coming *.*
Fantastic! Also finally top 20 on Pop there!
This was covered by The Amazons in Live Lounge today:
I actually quite like it and the chorus breakdown really works! It makes me sad that we didn't get a Live Lounge performance of it from Dua herself though
Wow af Gold in the US, should go Plat at very least!
Nominated for Best Single at the Radio 1 Teen Awards *.* Vote http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2YgR5X6JtZHJJgdTLcH9Mgk/best-single!
It's top 20 on US pop radio now! Still only #59 on iTunes though...I don't know what's wrong with their taste.
She's performing New Rules on Wossy on Saturday! Surely this is her first big TV performance?
She did Be The One on that Comic Relief show back in March/April IIRC but this is probably her next biggest!
Hopefully X Factor and Strictly to follow for her next single....
Are they the biggest shows in UK? She's never performed on Dutch TV sadly Performances don't really have as much impact anymore with streaming though. I assume it's the same in UK!
Imo XF is the biggest slot but I’m sure Ben will be able to give us the more specifics on what actually is the best!
Would be brill to see her on XF live shows this year.
Just saw this is now on 348m views!!! Once it really gets going in the US could it be 1 billion eventually?!
I only caught the end of the performance but it seemed cute. Anyone have a link?
Don’t have a link but she seemed so nervous?
Not my favourite performance but she looked amazing as always and I loved the role of the dancers.
Flat, looked mimed and half arsed on her part. Not impressed as I love the track
She was really nervous so had to record it twice too!
She did look nervous but her vocals were really good!
Yeah, you definitely can't fault her vocals although she did look a bit awkward. I liked that they re-interpreted the music video though, a very clever idea for the first(!) TV performance of it. A shame she didn't have an interview but it was a very awkward programme in general, Mary J Blige looked utterly embarrassed to be sitting besides the 'comedians' on the couch.
I agree that the whole show was a bit of a mess
It was all rather awkward if I'm being honest. The intro bit with her against the really bright lighting just didn't work for me and I felt she was quite flat with little to no presence on the stage. I found the dancers quite awkward too especially where she didn't join in with some of the video reenactments which I understand is probably because it's hard doing that and singing live (although I'm still sure she mimed in places towards the end).
I hate being critical because shes easily one of the artists I've discovered this year who I love and think is very upcoming which is why it's a shame
This is still slowly plodding upwards in America. I don't know why they're so bloody slow with everything.
Rolling In The Deep took 5 months to reach #1 There's probably even worse than that as well!
I read in the Spice forum (thx Jay xx) that '2 Become 1' didn't reach their top 10 until June the following year!
Edit: oh and in regards to this song, tbh I don't think I've seen a single good (or great) performance of it tbh. Like they've been "ok" I guess, but from her videos and just her general aura, I feel like she should be giving us fantastic performances (I don't mind the odd "not good" performance, she's only human) but I feel she isn't as consistent as her potential suggests. (if that makes sense lmao)
She's got an amazing voice and I agree she's not quite there as a performer yet but I think it's largely because she's very new to it and will grow into her strengths as a performer as time goes on.
Platinum now! It should sell enough for a Brits nomination!
#1 in Ireland for an eighth non-consecutive week *.* Going to Dublin tomorrow so going to request it everywhere when I'm out x
Agreed about her as a performer and growing into it. I just find it slightly jarring that in her videos (not just this one) she oozes so much charisma and personality and seems like she performs well, but it doesn't translate so much into her live performances, for me at least and it's frustrating coz I want to be more of a fan than I am atm . But I understand this seems to be a confidence issue and that her confidence will grow more to my expectations, the more times she performs on high profile slots etc...
I think I'm just being overly critical coz I don't love her as much as I should. Her music is top notch and there is bags of potential in her, but there is something missing that I'm not completely getting atm and it's really frustrating me haha.
I think she'll be fine once she gets more experience of these big promo slots. She hasn't really had much so it makes sense she'd be nervous and it's not translating as well.
An acoustic version of the track is available now.
It's just the normal version with different production isn't it? Not a proper acoustic recording?
I haven't listened to it yet, but it could be something like the acoustic version of "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)", which wasn't a proper acoustic version as well.
Down to 16 this week, what an eyesore in the chart run!
Such a crime. It's the third most streamed song this week so it's just frustrating that this rule has been implicated when no other charts around the world use it. I do find it surprising that all of her previous singles peaked considerably higher on the sales-only chart whilst this was 'only' #2 there!
Now ACR is applied we need the next single! I bet they'll end up hanging around until New Rules disappears though
We can't complain. We all called for faster moving charts so this is the compromise, unfortunately on occasion it'll be faves that suffer. It's still done absolutely wonderfully let's not forget!
Voted best single at the Teen Awards by R1 listeners.
she just performed it there too! way more personality and lively than the last performance altough i have to say something about it just stops it from proper kicking off live
So you mean this is her only song to benefit from streaming?

Is she doing any promo for the USA? It’s so close to breaking that barrier!
The music video has just hit half a billion views on YouTube! Such an incredible achievement and so deserved.
omg Such a smash!
Also she's performed an actual acoustic version of it but it's exclusive to Apple Music!
Up four to 34 in the US
Also 22 on US iTunes!
So this monster smash has reached half a BILLION views on youtube!
Half a billion views and is only just taking off in the US. With the video I can see it going Top 20 maybe even Top 10 soon
I'm glad she's top 40 in the US but WHY is she not top 10 (5?!).
Yaaas!
A remix package, including the previously released Alison Wonderland remix, as well as remixes from KREAM, Freedo, SG Lewis and MRK, will be out tomorrow.
Climbs a further 5 spaces on the Billboard Hot 100, up to #29!
Very pleasing progress
Predicted to climb 6 places to #23 in the US!
It's #26 this week, so only a three place climb But upward progress is good, if a little infuriating that it's taken so long.
Ah ok, it normally ends up 2-3 spaces higher than what is predicted so hopefully it can go top 20!
It's going further than I expected, usually these songs stall by now.
I think it’ll reach top 15 at the very least

It’s a cute hit there but it’s not as massive as most other countries. America’s loss really. I can’t see it going top 15 sadly.
I think it will go top 15
I thought those 80s style remixes were just fanmade! I'm pleasantly surprised to hear it playing right now on the New Music Friday playlist.
#144 on iTunes.
That is exactly what I needed this morning.
Love the new remix
It placed #4 on this week Spotify NMF US playlist so hopefully it can take off further to top 10 or maybe even top 5 perhaps.
They are kinda fan made but this one got picked up!
that remix ‼️‼️

omg yes at that remix *.*
#46 on iTunes and #143 on Spotify
that remix is such a generic example of 'turning a pop song into an 80's song with f*** all thought put into it', what a load of shite
That remix is amazing, it sounds like something from the late 80s which is excellent. I didn't think many artists made 80s style HI-NRG synthpop any more never mind there being a new song of this genre in the itunes chart in 2017 tbh
It would be hilarious if it's this basic 80's remix that helps New Rules take off even further in the US

That's awesome news! Does she stand a good chance of going top 5 on the Hot 100 at some point? Or is it gonna struggle?
I think it’ll struggle but it’s definitely a possibility
I think she’ll get close but newcomers to the Top 5 in Drake & soon Justin Timberlake will stop her
I'm thrilled that she's made the Top 10 there, I was nervous that it would stall at #11! G'won Dua.
New peak of #7 in the US!!!
New peak of #6 in the US
I can't at how messy US charts are. New Rules is 45 on US iTunes and 55 on US Spotify...yet it's charting at #6? Why couldn't it have peaked months ago when it was actually popular with the public. Their chart system is bogus and this feels disingenuous.
It’s because of Airplay and YouTube I think
#1 on airplay
It is a ridiculous system, but i doubt she would’ve gone Top 10 on sales & streams alone if their charts were added up the same as anywhere else. It’s a rare case where I am actually happy about the stupidity of how Billboard collates their charts
New Rules hit a billion views on YouTube!!!!
Incredible *.* She's the youngest female musician to have a music video hit 1 billion views on YouTube!
She did this performance on Ellen recently, I love that she brought the dancers back:
She also performed it for her Live Lounge today alongside a cover of "Do I Wanna Know?" by the Arctic Monkeys:

22 weeks top 10 is incredible! Up there with the longest runs of the decade, which is 24 weeks for Closer and 23 for Shape Of You IIRC.
That said they really need to stop playing it now and move on to One Kiss
This has broken the record for the most weeks spent on the Billboard Pop Songs chart as it is #15 this week on its 42nd overall week
The music video for this was released one year ago today! Happy birthday to the birth of an icon 🙌🏻
Certified 3x Platinum in the US!
One. Billion. Streams. On Spotify! Only the second song by a lead female ever to pass the threshold! A hit *.*
Insane !!
This is the #1 song of the year on Billboard's Pop Songs chart! Also #16 on their overall Hot 100 of the Year
New Rules is back on SCR and is back on the climb again!
Both this and One Kiss off ACR
We stan a queen of beating ACR *.*
Official classic now that it’s been used a lispync on Drag Race UK (although not a stellar one)
