I don't know a big lot about the 70s compared to the decades after but these are probably my three favourite songs from the decade I have heard so far.

Excellent pop rock tune, I thought until I found out recently, that this was from later than 1974! ohmy.gif

This song is so very different, especially with the operatic vocal.

Definitely my favorite of all the electronic HI-NRG disco songs in the late 70s. Have liked this one for a long time.

A fw off the top of my head:

ABBA - S.O.S.
Blondie - Sunday Girl
Carly Simon - You're So Vain
Cher - Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves

Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon
Fleetwood Mac - Landslide
Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi
Joni Mitchell - River
Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

If I had to only pick a top 3 I'd say it'd be Wuthering Heights first for sure, and then Bohemian Rhapsody and Rhiannon.

I remember when I first heard this song back in the day. More than 40 years on, they're still making great music.

That's why I did the 70s in this thread as if it was for the 80s or 90s or 00s I would have a huge number of songs I would like and would struggle to decide my absolute favourites. Will maybe start a similar 80s themed thread soon though on here.

Oh forgot about this one from the 70s, from 1970 ohmy.gif, thought it was from later in the 70s.

My favourites are heavily influenced by the music my parents listened to...

You could pretty much include most of Bowie and Blondie's 70s material...

In no order, and with no categories, so it's a mess just listed as I think of them, but trying to stick to one per artist:

Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers - One Track Mind
Ramones - Ramona
Japan - Wish You Were Black
The Stooges - Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell
Bob Marley - Natural Mystic
Black Sabbath - The Writ
The Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden
Leonard Cohen - Love Calls You by Your Name
Mick Ronson - Music is Lethal
Throbbing Gristle - Hit by a Rock
Television - Elevation
Syd Barrett - Golden Hair
Joy Division - I Remember Nothing
David Bowie - The Bewlay Brothers
Neil Young - Only Love Can Break Your Heart
The Kinks - Celluloid Heroes
Roxy Music - The Thrill of It All
Brian Eno - Dead Finks Don't Talk
Suzi Quatro - 48 Crash
The Sweet - Jeanie
Richard Hell & the Voidoids - New Pleasure
The Carpenters - I Kept On Loving You
KISS - Christine Sixteen
The Beach Boys - Let Us Go On This Way
The Hollies - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother
Motorhead - All the Aces

I could go on, but I have many. The '70s is one of my favourite eras.

A song I've not seen mentioned in here so far, it was recently used in an advert but I know of it from Adam Curtis' documentary Hypernormalisation and through it being played a lot on 6Music. Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream". Magnificent!

I do really like this cheesefest that was #1 in 1976, it is very nostalgic as my local cafe I went to a lot used seemed to always have this on its playlist when I was younger. laugh.gif The highlights for me are the Ooh-hoo's and the horn bits.
