QUEENDOM OF KYRIATINE
Kyriatinian: Κεριατίνη Ϙυενταυɯ αηο Ζειρίηι κα Λκαⱡίηι
{ translation: queen of honor, serenity and tranquility }

The national flag of Kyriatine. The blue stripes represent the ocean and lakes of Kyriatine while the white represents
the holy spirit of its people. The bird shown on this flag is the national bird, the giant golden plover.

NAMESAKE AND KYRIATINE EXPLAINED

The official name of the country is the Queendom of Kyriatine. In native Kyriatinian the name means queen of main honor.
Other widely accepted names for the country include the Serene Maiden Republic of Kyriatine (formal), the Holy Dytican Republic
of Kyriatine (no longer in use), Kyrotine (Mosquetanian), Kyria (simplified) and Kýria-Timí (old republic).

The nation of Kyriatine draws its inspiration from various places in the real world, including the most apparent Greece as well as my
native Iceland, other Nordic countries as well as France and the Roman Empire. The country also draws heavy inspiration from the
people in my surroundings, namely my friends and family who inspire the various regions, cities and wonders of Kyriatine.

I decided to not only change the name of my country but also to move it because I have always hated the shape of Mosquetania.
The main reason for this change is because when I created Mosquetania there was really no thought behind any of it: the name,
flag, country shape, all of it was just sort of random. But I wanted my country to reflect more about me and have more meaning
to me so I decided for a complete rebranding. Mosquetania will continue to exist as a small Kyriatinian territory in Vinorel but I
redraw the borders and leave the rest of the previously occupied territory to be claimed by other players. Kyriatine instead exists
on a series of islands off the coast of Jupiterdonia in western Orchidia.

Think I'll be putting more of a focus on icelandic (or iceland adjacent) artists from now on.

I'll be revisiting my BJSC + Spin-Off entries (36 BJSC entries, 11 Spin-Off entries) in this thread for both Mosquetania (2018-2022) and Kyriatine (2022-Present) in chronological order. Going over how I feel about the entry now, whether I think its placement was deserved or not, as well as how I rate it compared to other entries I've sent.

First up will be my very debut entry for BJSC 103: Kilian & Jo - Suburbia (feat. Erik Rapp), which got me what was, until very recently, my worst result ever when it placed 28th in its semi lol. It held this title alone until it was matched by my BJSC 164 entry in April of this year.

KILIAN & JO feat. ERIK RAPP
Suburbia

Contest: Buzzjack Song Contest 103 [CIII]
Date & Place: March 2018 in Åsnesia, Tinnmark
Results (Final): Did Not Qualify
Results (Semi): 28th out of 30 songs (27 points)
Results (Overall): 54th out of 61 songs
Trivia / Accolades:
- First ever entry for Mosquetania
- Also the First Entry in the Main Contest and for me overall
- First non-qualifying entry
- Lowest placement in a semi final (tie)

'Suburbia' was my very first entry and I for sure thought I had a hit on my hands. But looking back now, 6 years later and I... still think I was robbed. Honestly this is SUCH a banger, and to be reminded that not only did I not qualify but I was literally scraping the bottom of the barrel is honestly SHOCKING for me. This hits SO hard and knowing how many dance fans there are in this game it's strange to be reminded that they all either were in the wrong semi or just slept on this masterpiece. This is one of my all time favourite songs and it still gives me goosebumps. Deserved to not only qualify but based on the songs I remember from that final it would have been a well deserved Top 5 entry (totally not biased and all that), personally I feel like it would have been a deserving winner but I suppose we all feel that way about our entries every time lmao.

The song has such a sexy beat that makes me feel the urge to actually make my way to a club in Berlin despite being close to 5 years sober now. There is just something about this song that is legit filthy but beautiful at the same time, and it just makes. me. feel. things. If anything I think I love this song even more today than I did back in 2018.

I gave my 18 points to FSR Rontvia's eventual runner-up/tied co-winner 'Lost Without You', which of course went on to be a huge hit IRL afterwards, while the actual winner (New Lexico) got 9 points from me. I don't recall the winner at all but it features Bree Runway who has released some solid stuff since. No doubt these were deserving of their eventual placements but for me personally 'Suburbia' has my preference by far. Other great songs that I spotted on my ticket include my 15-pointer Bishop Briggs (14th), my first introduction to Vera Blue (21st) who eventually represents my nation as well, and the same for Robinson (18th) who has since become a mainstay on my pop playlists. CXLOE (41st) is also someone I didn't realise I'd been introduced to so long ago. Finally, seeing the other finalists I'm a bit shocked to see I didn't give any points to KSHMR's 'Shiva' (10th) as it actually made its way onto my playlist in the aftermath. Don't know any of the other non-qualifiers at a glance, but no doubt there were probably some other injustices in this contest given how I fared.

(totally did not forget about this)

TEXAS
Summer Son

Contest: 90s vs. 00s [Spin-Off]
Date & Place: April 2018 in Aeroche
Results (Final): 5th out of 38 songs
Results (Semi): N/A
Results (Overall): N/A
Trivia / Accolades:
- First Spin-Off entry for Mosquetania and for me overall
- First Top 10 and Top 5 placement in any contest
- Only song I have sent TO DATE that was not released in the 21st century (or post 2010 tbh)
- Therefore easily the oldest song I have sent in any contest

Gotta love the church bell trend of the late 90's and honestly this still slaps SO hard. I remember I had rather recently rediscovered this song at the time of submitting it to my first spin-off and was so happy to see my love for this song was shared by so many of the participants. After getting my ass handed to me in the first main contest it was a nice consolation prize to immediately go top 5 in a spin-off afterwards.

I remember the final was really exciting for me and I even peaked at #2 a couple of times during the results reveal. Although the top spot was never within reach given just how much of a landslide victory this was for Espen, but I was happy with my performance in the end. Not bad at all for a second outing! The competition was strong too, with Texas managing to outperform a whopping 33 other songs, a lot of which were proper bangers! Today I think my points would have been distributed a little differently but Ojnoj (10th), Espen (1st), and Botanikka (12th) would have given each other a good run, although I think it would have been a gold medal for Addy this time around (shocked it didn't go top 10 tbh). Happy to see Jade get some love too, our preferences don't always go together but from what I've seen in the past we usually see eye-to-eye when it comes to a cheesy early noughties bops lmao.

Overall a very solid first spin-off entry for me, but 'Suburbia' still stays on top.

Also using this chance to pimp my BJSC 168 blasphemy entry 'Jesus Christ in a Mini Skirt' by Meg Smith. Pop banger with beautiful lyrics about love, lust, and murder. A surefire way to rile up all of your conservative friends and family, coming to a Tr*mp rally near you.. maybe?

Don't leave me in the semis again pls. Vote.
