"I Want Candy" is a rubbish song.

Why did she never release "First Day Of My Life" in the UK? That song is easily the best thing a former Spice Girl has ever done

Shes changed her image and her style of music.

Bloody hell, I thought it was Suzi Quatro from the top photo!

I think that it will struggle to make the top 30. According to HMV, it is only being released as a maxi CD single and 7" single (both £2.99 each). I think that it's a mistake not to have a £1.99 CD single format.

It's not that bad actually Although I'm confused about the lyrics, is she actually admitting she's a lesbian then? I noticed some of the lyrics have been changed, but you still can't get away from the fact that she really wants Candy

Sorry, but how bad is that song? There's something about her voice that I really can't stand. Don't see this doing very well in the charts! Doubt she will get any higher the top 30.

Ok it's a cover... not a good way to comeback (yes emma did it this way but her single was for a good cause), not to mention this song has been covered so many times. its not original and i don't think it'll go very far.

I've never actually heard this song before but this version at least is very weak and won't do anything in the charts. The video is alright and 'The Moment You Believe' is a slightly better song but even that is slightly weak and wouldn't do much in The UK Charts. I feel this may just scrape very low top 20 or it may well just miss the top 20 but it certainly won't get top 10 and probably won't get top 15. I expect her album in The UK to bomb and judging by 'I Want Candy' and 'The Moment You Believe', I wouldn't be surprised if it missed the top 40. I personally am not a big fan of Melanie C but I actually felt that 'The Next Best Superstar' which was the lead single off her last album, was a pretty decent song which should probably have got higher than 10 and I also liked 'First Day Of My Life' and whilst it was never going to get top 40, I felt that 'Better Alone' wasn't too bad either despite being a little bland however, I feel the exact opposite about 'I Want Candy' and 'The Moment You Believe'. I can't honestly see either of the two songs being succesful anyway even in Germany where she is fairly big.

It's a fantastic comeback single.
She looks great .
The most talented of the Spice Girls is back.
It's a better version than Bow Wow Wow's and uses the Bo Diddley riff which has been used by many artistes over the years inc Buddy Holly & Rolling Stones.
Top 5 cert !!!!!

First Day Of My Life was # 1 in Germany but just because it was used in a TV series out there. To be honest I don't think she is bigger in Germany than in the UK.

I think it will be Top 20, but only because of lack of radio support, as it has happened with every solo spice release for quite a while...

I am a Mel C fan, but I don't like the song that much. But I have seen lots of worse tracks doing fine, even being hits in the UK charts... so with a better promotion and the film being big, it could perfectly be top 10!

And, yes, Mel IS big in Germany... all her albums have sold well there, not only because of FDOML, which, if you don't know, was #1 too in Portugal, Spain, and Top 3 in Switzerland and Austria.

i think mel is better doing the fun edgy pop rather than the guitar based sound of recent singles (if u get what i mean, lol)

Just why have they released I Want Candy in the UK instead of the far superior The Moment You Believe which is climbing fast in Europe.

They did it last year in not releasing what was her best ever single First Day Of My Life. This was massive all over Europe and elsewhere.

I'm sure her record company are trying to ruin here UK career.

She owns her own record label so I doubt she'd want to ruin her career herself.
She released I Want Candy here because it was attached to a film which, I assume, she thought would help promote the single and therefore gain a better position.
I am sure we will get The Moment You Believe next, if she still bothers with the UK.

She is signed to her own independent record label 'Red Girl Records' which she manages for herself so if anything she is ruining it for herself.

Roflmao! I doubt we will (and hope we dont) get The Moment You Believe here. Its a nice ballad but the UK wouldnt go for it at all. I think the 2nd single should be international, and should be This Time or Carolyna. There should be one, just as long as the album does okay.

If you can play vinyl, you can buy the I Want Candy single on vinyl, as that features Already Gone as a b-side. Otherwise, download it from Tesco Digital/7 Digital. Itunes dont have it, though
