    Andrew's Review
Now That’s What I Call Music! 65 otherwise known as Now 65 became the first volume in the series not to get a release on double cassette. The volume contained a joint record 45 tracks (equal to Now 45) and 8 UK #1 singles. This was also the first volume in the series to feature Shakira, The Fratellis, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera, Fedde Le Grand, Fergie (as a solo artist), Paolo Nutini, Kasabian, Bodyrox, David Guetta and Cascada. Considering the success of many of these artists, this is arguably the highest calibre of first time appearances by a selection of artists in the entire compilation series.

There was only one missing UK #1 single from this era, and it was by emo-rock group My Chemical Romance with Welcome To The Black Parade. Man of the moment Justin Timberlake had a #2 hit omitted in favour of his first UK #1 single. Other omissions included artists like Paris Hilton, Lil’ Chris, Madonna, Arctic Monkeys, Infernal, Ronan Keating and Evanescence.

Now 65 was the only volume in the series to feature Chamillionaire, Cassie, Gabriella & Troy, El Chombo and David Hasselhoff.

Artwork Rating: 5/10 Poor
Despite seeming visually stunning with the many colours, the theme and design once again lack any originality and forethought. What appear to be various shapes of vase, jars or other ornaments heavily reflecting light just seems a little strange. The red logo had been overused for a while by this point too.

Disc 1 Favourite: Justin Timberlake – SexyBack
Not actually a song I would call a personal favourite but I think this was the strongest era for Justin Timberlake, and it scored him his first solo UK #1 single. It’s still a good listen, and it marked the beginning of a heavily influenced era for Timbaland too.

Disc 2 Favourite: Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
An obvious choice really. One of the most defining modern songs of my generation from start to finish. The highest point in Snow Patrol’s career. The longevity of this song in downloads alone is phenomenal.

Disc 3 Tracklist:
(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. Justin Timberlake feat. T.I. – My Love 4:41 {2}
2. Madonna – Jump 3:58 {9}
3. Paris Hilton – Stars Are Blind 3:56 {5}
4. Rihanna – We Ride 3:56 {17}
5. Alesha Dixon – Lipstick 2:47 {14}
6. My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade 5:10 {1}
7. Arctic Monkeys – Leave Before The Lights Come On 3:53 {4}
8. U2 & Green Day – The Saints Are Coming 3:21 {2}
9. Muse – Starlight 3:59 {13}
10. Keane – Crystal Ball 3:53 {20}
11. The Ordinary Boys – Lonely At The Top 3:09 {10}
12. The Kooks – Ooh La 3:29 {20}
13. Paolo Nutini – Jenny Don’t Be Hasty 3:29 {20}
14. The Magic Numbers – Take A Chance 3:32 {16}
15. Ray LaMontage – Trouble 3:58 {25}
16. Ronan Keating – Iris 4:08 {15}
17. Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright – Set The Fire To The Third Bar 3:23 {18}
18. Thom Yorke – Harrowdown Hill 4:38 {23}
19. Supafly Inc. – Moving Too Fast 3:05 {23}
20. Micky Modelle & Jessy – Dancing In The Dark 3:20 {10}
21. Infernal – Self Control 3:40 {18}
----------
Total time: 1:19:25

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good
Considering the quality of music verses the omissions, I’d say that it’s pretty much spot on. I should give negative points just for the inclusion of El Chombo alone, but the rest of the compilation makes up for that error. It does strike me that no artists were given a double selection at this time despite multiple charting hits during this era such as Justin Timberlake, Paolo Nutini and Rihanna. It’s a bit of a novelty this volume, but there are some fine tracks within the mix and it’s the best of what was available at the time.

Andrew's Best 5 (as of December 2017)
1. Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
2. The Killers – When You Were Young
3. Justin Timberlake – SexyBack
4. Cascada – Everytime We Touch
5. Bodyrox feat. Luciana – Yeah Yeah

Andrew's Worst 5 (as of December 2017)
1. El Chombo – Chacarron
2. David Hasselhoff – Jump In My Car
3. Gabriella & Troy – Breaking Free
4. Matt Willis – Hey Kid
5. Robbie Williams – Lovelight

Was this the first appearance for David Guetta?

It was indeed. He did appear on some of the Now Dance spin off's with his earlier songs such as 'Just A Little More Love'.

My Top 5 from this album:-

1) The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
2) David Guetta vs The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go
3) Nelly Furtardo feat. Timbaland - Promiscuous
4) Kasabian - Empire
5) Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

This is where chart dance music starts to go downhill for me sadly sad.gif The spoken word electro trend that arrived at the end of 2007 really isn't my kind of thing and a big comedown from the uplifting vocal house and the rather atmospheric imo 80s remixes that had came before for me, although that David Guetta and The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away) is fantastic as it has an excellent vocal too!

Picked Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Ooh! for the first CD, nice uplifting dance pop track and Borderline by Michael Gray and Shelley Poole for the second, one of the last hits to use that wonderful imo Shapeshifters style production that had been a trend earlier in the mid 00s. Really like 'Everytime We Touch' and 'Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)' too from the second CD. Beatfreakz - Superfreak is one of my least favourite funky songs ever, probably because I don't like the original much its a bit of novelty song, but it is better than the Beatfreakz version!

In the omissions, I Write Sins Not Tragedies is fantastic I think, My Love I loved at the time and listening to it now sounds kind of like an early EDM trap tune with the drop especially, Starlight is a great rock tune and those last three on your disc 3 awardinary are all brill dance tunes, Movin Too Fast, Dancing In the Dark (one of the last eurotrance songs to make the chart sad.gif ) and Self Control which I prefer to 'From Paris To Berlin' definitely! May I suggest another brilliant imo dance omission though, Changes by Chris Lake ft Laura V (only made #27 sadly but did manage three weeks top 40).

Not too bad a volume, could have had multiple picks on each disc.

Went for Scissor Sisters and The Feeling, both classics.

Disc 1:
1. Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit [EASILY my favourite of the entire compilation, one of the classic dance songs of all time]
2. Chamillionaire - Ridin' [brilliant urban club banger which will probably get overlooked on Buzzjack because male borderline novelty hip-hop]
3. Cassie - Me & U
4. Justin Timberlake - SexyBack
5. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

Disc 2:
1. Bodyrox feat. Luciana - Yeah Yeah [another big highlight of the 00s in dance, some of the best songs of the era were being put out around this time]
2. David Guetta vs. The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)
3. Cascada - Everytime We Touch
4. El Chombo - Chacarron *_*
5. The Killers - When We Were Young [pretty much on a par with 'America' and 'Chasing Cars']
