Twinkpop isn't a genre as such, but it's an umbrella term for pop music generally made by young male artists. Over the years, I've found twinkpop to be an increasingly large part of my taste, bringing so many defining moments at concerts and meet + greets as well. In this thread, I'm going to count down a top 50 of my favourite twink pop singers, as well as sharing how I discovered each artist, any particular memories, and my favourite songs! The definition of a "twink" is loose for this thread, but I've ensured to keep every artist somewhat pop. Many of the names in this thread aren't really "twinks" any longer, but whether it's past or present doesn't matter. As long as they were a young man who made pop music at the time, they're eligible. Every artist in this thread will have been active throughout the 10s and/or 20s so it's mostly recent. I'm not sure how many people will be interested in this, but I'm hoping discoveries can be made along the way as I'll be recommending my favourite songs for all 50 artists! Before we begin though, who do you think will win? |

50 Gunnar Gehl Nationality: American Current age: 19 Year of first single: 2020 We'll start off with a new discovery, one who's still working his way up my affections and absolutely one to watch. I discovered Californian singer/songwriter Gunnar Gehl over Twitter via the PRETTYMUCH fanbase, because he supported them on tour! I found him just before he released his major debut single and nabbed a Twitter follow from him x Gunnar's currently releasing a new song every fortnight under the "One Second of One Day" project, and his most recent release has already become his highest charting yet. He's the only artist in the whole countdown who hasn't scored at least one top 10 hit in my chart, but I firmly believe he's set to score one any day now! Oh this is off to a good start! *.* Haven't heard of Gunnar at all, but just given Nobody Knows a listen and it's great.

49 Harry Gardner Nationality: British Current age: 20 Year of first single: 2017 Best known for Britain's Got Talent 2017, Harry Gardner scored a couple of hits in my chart in the year that followed his heart-wrenching audition. He performed original track Not Alone, later released as his debut single, dedicated to his grandmother who suffered with Alzheimer's (and sadly passed away between his audition + semi final performances). In the semi-final, he performed a cover of Ed Sheeran's Supermarket Flowers, but didn't progress any further. His debut EP, Times New Roman, came out in 2018 and contained my personal favourite song by him, Strawberry Vodka - a surprisingly boppy track! Sadly he seems to have moved on from that EP entirely - it's removed from Spotify and he's seemingly pretending it doesn't exist oops. Personal Chart History 28/10/2017 | 04 | 05 weeks | Not Alone | NAS | 4-8-14-22-32-x 11/11/2017 | 39 | 01 weeks | Falling Down | 1 | 39-x 02/06/2018 | 07 | 04 weeks | Strawberry Vodka | 4 | 7-12-18-29-x Recommendation |

48 Jakob Karlberg Nationality: Swedish Current age: 26 Year of first single: 2015 If I remember correctly, I discovered Swedish singer/songwriter Jakob Karlberg via a YouTube recommendation in 2015. His song Fan va bra was a hit in his native, and it remained his only charting hit until Melodifestivalen track Om du tror att jag saknar dig made the chart this year. Fan va bra was sent to BJSC by me, where it finished 14th in the final! That remains my favourite song of his, though I do love Fel på dig a lot too. The following material dipped a little in quality but I've enjoyed tracks here and there, Jakob's definitely still someone that's on my radar five years down the line. Personal Chart History 15/08/2015 | 05 | 09 weeks | Fan va bra | NAS | 7-5-9-12-12-14-16-23-29-x 12/09/2015 | 03 | 07 weeks | Fel på dig | NAS | 27-3-6-12-21-31-37-x 13/02/2016 | 28 | 01 weeks | Haltar | NAS | 28-x 16/07/2016 | 38 | 02 weeks | Trädgårn | NAS | 38-40-x 19/11/2016 | 19 | 03 weeks | 1990 | NAS | 19-23-39-x 31/03/2018 | 39 | 01 weeks | Generad | NAS | 39-x 29/02/2020 | 13 | 03 weeks | Om du tror att jag saknar dig | NAS | 13-22-30-x Recommendation |

47 Peder Elias Nationality: Norwegian Current age: 23 Year of first single: 2018 Another rising star, Peder Elias has just started to make noticeable waves in my chart. I can't quite remember how I discovered him, but he's been low-key on my radar for a while. His debut single Simple lives up to its name in a good way - it's a cute pop track with no strings attached and a solid hook. He scored his first top 10 hit in 2020 with TRXD collaboration Care Less, which climbed to #1 in its second week, and it remains his best song! Peder's definitely one to keep an eye on going forward, as I think he's still got a lot of potential to reach. Personal Chart History 15/09/2018 | 39 | 01 weeks | Simple | NAS | 39-x 09/02/2019 | 34 | 01 weeks | Good for You | NAS | 34-x 11/04/2020 | 21 | 02 weeks | Back in the Game | NAS | 21-25-x 09/05/2020 | 01 | 08 weeks | Care Less (TRXD & Peder Elias) | FEAT | 3-1-5-12-21-21-22-33-x 20/06/2020 | 08 | 04 weeks | Easy | NAS | 8-18-28-37-x Recommendation |

Lots of people I don't know so far Even Harry Gardner only looks vaguely familiar The names should get somewhat more familiar as we go up (even if you've only seen them from BJSC or constantly appearing in my personal chart! )! Thanks Pete, glad you like Strawberry Vodka! Very very catchy, reminds me a lot of early summer 2018 |

46 Tom Jay Williams Nationality: Australia Current age: 28 Year of first single: 2017 For this countdown I'm generally keeping band members and soloists together, but in this particular case, Tom Jay Williams was a name I knew on his own away from either boyband he was a part of. The Aussie singer rose to fame on Australian Idol 2008, then as part of pop/rock trio At Sunset in 2012, and they released a series of singles until the group split in 2016 (the other two members forming their own band while Tom went solo). He released two solo tracks - Closure and Figure It Out. Closure was a BJSC entry of mine, and was the track I discovered him with. It reached unlucky #2 in my chart (behind Cheat Codes' No Promises, a tough week!). Figure It Out reached #3, so Tom was building up a strong track record. All then went quiet, and now Tom's part of Darling Brando, a new three-piece boyband who have scored two small hits in my chart thus far. Personal Chart History Tom Jay Williams 25/03/2017 | 02 | 10 weeks | Closure | NAS | 16-2-3-4-6-10-14-23-32-40-x 11/11/2017 | 03 | 05 weeks | Figure It Out | NAS | 3-6-13-21-36-x Darling Brando 21/03/2020 | 25 | 03 weeks | Beat Up Guitar | 1 | 29-25-34-x 12/09/2020 | 37 | 01 weeks | Nightlights | 2 | 37-x Recommendation |

45 Anton Hagman Nationality: Swedish Current age: 22 Year of first single: 2017 I discovered Anton Hagman alongside most people who are aware of him - through Melodifestivalen in 2017! He entered with the song Kiss You Goodbye, hoping to represent Sweden in Eurovision that year. The Shawn Mendes-esque track immediately won me over, and I was thrilled when he pulled off the shock of the year by knocking Loreen out of the competition to reach the final...! Anton's post-Melfest material has been varied - follow-up single Somebody to Love was initially a big hit but it's a track that's truly stuck with me over the years, and it actually has more plays than Kiss You Goodbye on my last.fm these days! Sadly his return to Melfest with Swedish-language track Känner dig was more of a damp squib Personal Chart History 25/02/2017 | 02 | 12 weeks | Kiss You Goodbye | NAS | 2-2-3-6-9-12-15-22-24-29-31-40-x 27/05/2017 | 03 | 10 weeks | Somebody to Love | 1 | 3-5-8-12-20-25-30-39-x-25-34-x 05/05/2018 | 40 | 01 weeks | Running in the Dark | NAS | 40-x 02/03/2019 | 40 | 01 weeks | Känner dig | NAS | 40-x Recommendation |
