I presume there's a good reason why a 25-year old Boz Scaggs track is charting? He still seems to be alive.

?

a) it was released yesterday i.e. Wednesday
b) a lot of new releases these days come out on Wednesday/Thursday, not Friday, presumably to try and be visible on streaming services by the time chart tracking weeks start

There are very few cases where releasing on a day other than Friday would make even a slight difference to anything and this certainly isn't one of them.

Yes it happens every week

this seems to have had very limited impact, surprising
especially since its an Ed track and he sings it almost impersonating Ed

Liam's last single with French Montana did absolutely nothing as well, I'm not sure he really has much of a fanbase of his own any more.

I don't think First Time was really given any sort of push in the end despite a little bit of Capital airplay in week 1, it essentially headed up an EP of rejects from his album :') Familiar is his most recent proper single as a lead artist, unbelievably over a year ago now!

But as everything related to 1D is "fanbase only" these days (well apart from Harry Styles perhaps if he decides to release something), that one day makes a big difference for 1st full week total.
