Following the EP 'Under Exit Lights' in March, Sea Girls have announced their debut album 'Open Up Your Head' will be released on August 14th! They also upgraded their November tour to include Brixton Academy! And have released the new single 'Do You Really Wanna Know?' - which I'm loving, very catchy.

Tracklisting:

1. Transplant
2. All I Want to Hear You Say
3. Do You Really Wanna Know?
4. Lie to Me
5. Call Me Out
6. Closer
7. Forever
8. Weight in Gold
9. Ready for More
10. Violet
11. Shake
12. Damage Done
13. You Over Everyone
14. Moving On

I'd never heard of them until I heard 'Ready For More' a few weeks ago. That's a decent enough track but 'Do You Really Wanna Know' released this morning is even better! I'll have to check out some of their others.

From 'Do You Really Wanna Know?' the melody of the "we could get into my head or just spend the day in bed" line really reminds me of "Stacy can't you see, you're just not the girl for me" from 'Stacy's Mom' laugh.gif really enjoying it though happy.gif

They released a "Single Version" of All I Want To Hear You Say. Since the orginal was released in 2018, I'm guessing they are going to re-push this soon.

There won't be much of the album left with all the releases, I do hope there's some standouts other than the singles which are pretty much all 8-9/10 for me.

Agreed 'Forever' sounds amazing on first listen as well. Probably my favourite release in 2020 anyway. It's like a mix of U2/White Lies/Interpol/Editors. Very different to the more indie/pop of the earlier releases!

There's 6 new tracks now which is alright for a debut album, that's the problem as they're usually built up of songs released over their careers so far! (Sports Team said they didn't want to use so many older songs, but the label made them).

Though it seems like all the older tracks will have new mixes, which is good as I much prefer the new 'All I Want To Hear You Say'

Yeh most debuts as you say are like that due to the amount of time it takes bands to break through with the numerous Ep releases.

Weight In Gold is great!

Liking this album a lot. Not much variety though, but that's ok. Maybe the standouts will start becoming more noticeable on repeated listens.
