Wizkid & Kyla) - One Dance 37 33 185 Chainsmokers (feat. Halsey) - Closer 36 21 190 Dua Lipa - Blow Your Mind (Mwah) Firstly a major yikes for Little Mix whose 'Shout Out To My Ex', a fairly safe semi-finalist last year, bombs out of the AQ zone down to #45. A bit of a surprise there but a welcome one in my opinion. All Saints are out with what I believe was their comeback single albeit not one that lit up any charts are out with 'One Strike', a song I'm surprised made it to AQ in the first place. Dua Lipa, Chainsmokers, AlunaGeorge and Shawn Mendes also lose their placings. In welcoming news MK & Becky Hill are up to #41 with 'Piece Of Me', hopefully in prime position to keep on climbing next year. Alan Walker also makes the top 60 this time with 'Sing Me To Sleep', the oft-forgot about follow-up to 'Faded' which sadly wasn't a UK hit. A few other good songs enter the 'flop but not terrible flop' section including the controversial Calvin Harris hit 'My Way', Porter Robinson and Madeon's biggest streaming hit 'Shelter' and one of the biggest missed hit opportunities of the year 'Lost On You' (joining fellow was-a-huge-Euro-hit-but-the-UK-slept-on-it song 'Don't Be So Shy'). Next Year's AQs... 35 42 193 Christine And The Queens - Saint Claude 34 48 194 Röyksopp (feat. Susanne Sundfør) - Never Ever 33 26 198 Charli XCX - Vroom Vroom 32 38 199 Elle King - Ex's And Oh's 31 16 202 Adele - When We Were Young 30 40 204 DJ Snake (feat. Justin Bieber) - Let Me Love You 29 30 211 Bruno Mars - 24k Magic 28 24 214 Fifth Harmony (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) - Work from Home 27 23 215 ZAYN – Pillowtalk 26 28 216 Chainsmokers (feat. Daya) - Don't Let Me Down 25 08 223 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 24 34 224 Clean Bandit (feat. Louisa Johnson) - Tears 23 20 227 Little Mix (feat. Jason Derulo) - Secret Love Song 22 25 230 Beyoncé - Formation 21 36 231 Chainsmokers (feat. ROZES) - Roses So what comes in to replace the outgoing songs? Christine always does well with 'Tilted' but this time around the follow-up single 'Saint Claude' also makes the top 35 just about. Röyksopp are also in with 'Never Ever', the 2nd song of theirs to AQ and not-coincidentally the 2nd song of theirs with Susanne Sundfør (but it's a really great song yay). Elle King has a small climb with 'Ex's & Oh's as does DJ Snake & Bieber with 'Let Me Love You'. Chainsmokers also got very close to making semis with 'Roses', now joining 'Don't Let Me Down' in the AQ zone. It is not a great year for Zara Larsson though besides underperforming with album #2 'Lush Life' is now out of the running having been top 10 last year. Adele also loses her spot with 'When We Were Young'. Maybe if she announced her comeback sooner it could have remained there (oops I've just delayed it to 2054 now). 'Secret Love Song' doesn't bomb as hard as their other song but likewise it is removed from the semis this year. Semi-Finalists 20 18 234 Rihanna (feat. Drake) - Work 19 35 238 MØ - Final Song 18 22 242 Ariana Grande (feat. Nicki Minaj) - Side To Side 17 27 249 1975 - The Sound 16 09 262 Dua Lipa - Hotter Than Hell 15 14 269 Calvin Harris (feat. Rihanna) - This Is What You Came For 14 12 281 Sia - Cheap Thrills 13 13 282 Blossoms - Charlemagne 12 44 284 Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out 11 15 286 1975 - Somebody Else 10 07 303 Clean Bandit (feat. Anne-Marie & Sean Paul) - Rockabye 09 17 309 Weeknd (feat. Daft Punk) - I Feel It Coming 08 19 313 Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix) 07 10 330 Rihanna - Kiss It Better 06 06 388 Kungs vs Cookin On 3 Burners - This Girl Replacing Adele, Little Mix and Zara this year in the semis we've got MØ, Ariana, The 1975 and TOP. Fairly good trade-offs there (besides us having to lose 'Lush Life'). I'm also glad we didn't end up losing 'Work' which was looking like going out the top 20 for most of the running. Besides 'The Sound' climbing in 'Somebody Else' is also up to #11 so overall a good year for them. A bonus point to whoever nominated 'Stressed Out' too which is the only song here that wasn't a previous AQ. It's also great to see Mike Posner jumping a fair bit into the top 10 and I can't complain with The Weeknd climbing in either. Direkt Till Finalen 05 04 410 Weeknd (feat. Daft Punk) – Starboy 04 03 414 xx - On Hold 03 02 426 Christine And The Queens - Tilted / Christine 02 05 445 Alan Walker - Faded 01 01 513 Ariana Grande - Into You The top 5 has the same familiar faces however and to no one's surprise 'Into You' is #1 yet again, a song that is definitely a contender to win the whole thing as ever especially now that Dancing On My Own has been removed from the contest. Alan Walker is now into 2nd with 'Faded' which is the real great news here however, a song that can hopefully continue to do well into the final. It means The Weeknd, The xx and Christine all drop a place each, sadly leaving Kungs at 6th place for another year. |

I Took A Pill In Ibiza in the top 10 is the best thing I've seen in these results.
Poor Shawn Mendes, his fans have vanished! I think he had 3 2016 nominations last year and had only 1 this time that lost its AQ status. |
