Former Walsall manager Jan Sorensen has died at the age of 68.

The ex-Denmark striker, who scored three times in 11 games for his country, spent a season in charge at Bescot in 1997-98.

After succeeding Chris Nicholl as boss, Sorensen's Saddlers side won 14 of their 46 Second Division games in the English third tier to finish 19th.

Sorensen was then succeeded by Ray Graydon, who led Walsall to promotion to the second tier a season later.

The highlight of the Dane's playing career was being part of the Club Bruges side beaten 1-0 by Liverpool at Wembley in the 1978 European Cup final.

Former Wales and British and Irish Lions prop John O'Shea has died in Australia at the age of 83 after a lengthy illness.

Capped five times from 1967-1968, O'Shea made his international debut for his country against Scotland at Murrayfield in February 1967.

O'Shea was selected for the 1968 Lions tour to South Africa, where he became the first Lion to be sent off for foul play in a game after punching an Eastern Transvaal player.

He always claimed he had been retaliating after the opponent had targeted Lions scrum-half Roger Young, while there was an infamous melee as he walked off the pitch after a spectator then struck the departing prop.

Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain rugby league great Rob Burrow has died.

Burrow, who was 41, had lived with motor neurone disease (MND) since being diagnosed in late 2019.

The diagnosis came just two years after he retired from playing, following a stellar 17-year career that included winning eight Super League Grand Finals, three World Club Challenges and two Challenge Cups.

Burrow's death was announced by Leeds Rhinos, who called their former scrum-half "a true inspiration throughout his life whether that was on the rugby league field or during his battle with MND".

In 2022, Burrow was presented with the Helen Rollason Award at the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year ceremony, with his ex-Leeds team-mate Kevin Sinfield also recognised.

Burrow was given the award for relentless fundraising and raising awareness of MND while battling the illness himself.

Burrow spent his entire club career with Leeds and made more than 400 appearances between 2001 and 2017.
