Everybody's least favourite eurovision country are coming back with powah powah
QUOTE Kleine Zeitung one of Austria’s largest newspapers is reporting that the national final to select Austria’s Eurovision 2016 participant will be held February 26.The newspaper says that it is very likely that Austria will select their participant for the competition one week before the latest series of “Dancing Stars” begins in Austria on March 4. ORF confirmed earlier in the year that they would once again be using a national selection process to select their participant for the Eurovision Song Contest. Austria hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and were represented by The MakeMakes with “I Am Yours” they finished in 26th place with 0 points. Calm yourselves guys, I can feel the hype ready to burst into this thread! |

The thirst is so real for Austria that they've brought the national final forward 2 weeks!
QUOTE This year’s Eurovision host is all set for selecting its representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The Austrian national selection Wer singt für Österreich? will take place on 12 February with 10 participating songs. Nine out of the ten acts will be nominated by Eberhard Forcher, an award-winning Austrian musician and DJ, together with ORF’s Eurovision team. The chosen acts will be announced in the beginning of January. The tenth and last act to join the national selection will be a wildcard chosen out of an open submission process. The submissions will be reviewed by Eberhard and the ORF’s team, while the best of them will go to an online-voting round, that is expected to kick off at around mid-December. The winner will then join the line-up of the national selection of 12 February. The submission period is open and the deadline is 11 December. Songs must be submitted by sending an email to songcontest@orf.at with MP3 file attached or a link to it on a social media platform (as Soundcloud, YouTube or Facebook). The general rules regarding participating songs in Eurovision Song Contest apply. No limitations regarding the artists’ or songwriters’ nationality were mentioned. http://esctoday.com/106843/austria-eurovis...on-12-february/ |

Eurofans seem to think this is a near certain victory for Zoë after missing out last year yet going onto success in Austria since that defeat. Her song is available on her latest album apparently, although I can't find it on YouTube.

Really loving Zoë, much preferring her song this year to her entry last year. And the new remix for Eurovision is much better than the album original!

I've only listened to Zoë, Elly and Orry so can't offer too much discussion but of course Zoë is my favourite by far as I've said before. Elly is a decent Rudimental & Ella Eyre type song and would be a solid entry too, Orry is catchy but very basic.
Zoë of course has a lot of hype, but I always worry when my favourite is the favourite. I could definitely see Orry being in contention with a good running order draw, I'm not as convinced by Elly despite her odds as it sounds like a song that could be a struggle live. |

I'm told I listened to the wrong version of 'Loin d'ici' the other week as I don't remember it at all, but this ESC version is fabulous! *.*

*.* Amazing!
This national final is one of the most watchable I've ever seen, each performance has had so much thought into it - practically Melodifestivalen levels of production value, even if each of the performances seems to have ripped off a previous Eurovision staging! The jury scores coming after each performance keep it really interesting too! |

This jury are hilariously harsh! They just gave the last performance 10 out of 40, I only caught the end but I'm sure it wasn't that bad

The jury has left Zoe with a bit of an uphill climb to make the superfinal, she'll need an excellent televote and others not to have to make it - there's still a chance though!
