Bugger, didn't realise there was an existing topic. laugh.gif (although I tried searching)

I checked it out on a friend's recommendation. I felt like since the murder episode it properly came into its own. Hoping they don't push for a second season of it as I felt like the story was told and there's nowhere they can go afterwards with it.

Topics merged~

And I notice I never posted in here about it but I also caught up with this and it was indeed really good - for something that covered just about the most grim topics (sexual abuse, murder, domestic abuse, psychopathy etc.), it remained very realistic and it's tone was just the right balance between darkly comic and gruesome and the performances from the two leads were absolutely brilliant and had incredible chemistry. The ending was certainly unsettling, I can't deny I'd be interested in a second series, but at the same time, I'm unsure if that would taint the original story told.

I'm so thankful it went on Netflix as it does work really well on that platform. I don't watch a lot of "TV" so I didn't even know this existed until it went online and i imagine that's the case with a lot of the targeted demographic kink.gif it's one of those series that's almost designed to be binge watched tbh, idk if I'd have been as invested if I had to wait between episodes, especially given how short the series is

Finally got around to watching this! Such a brilliant series - so dark, but surprisingly amusing alongside the heavy themes.

That ending though!! I lean towards being on team “leave it at that” though. Like others have said, there’d be a risk to continuing this and potentially tainting the show by pushing it too far, when as it stands it’s strong from start to finish. Maybe it’s better to just imagine what happened to James.

It WILL be returning for a second series! ohmy.gif

I’m happy because I loved the show but also concerned as I’m not sure where it will go....

Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about this. I really loved the first season but cannot see where they will take the second one at all?!

I really can't wait for this, I'm interested to see where they go next with it.

Apparently it will also air on Channel 4 first, rather than just on All 4, where the first series was, so I'm definitely up for that.

Oh I never expected this to come back at all - was a great series so I hope a second one lives up to the first, although I hope they don't do anything that ruins the previous fantastic ending.

Really hoping the second season doesn't screw things up. A few episodes just to tie up some loose ends and let us know the immediate future after S1's ending would be perfect, and then let the show rest how it is. I think a second season will be fine, but to go beyond that would really just make it seem like a dire cash grab and truly start to mess up the storyline. I can't see this going past a second season and staying great, but I guess that's up to the writers and producers to figure out!

I agree with everyone else tbh. A second season sounds good on paper but there doesn't seem to be much they can add to the story other than telling us what happens to them next, which isn't necessary as I enjoyed the ending as it was.

A bit like You, Me, and the Apocalypse is anyone here has seen that. Ending on a huge cliffhanger but one that is probably best left to the imagination.

Series 2 has begun production!

It will air on Netflix globally, but this time the whole series will air on Channel 4 in the UK first.

Coming in November to Channel 4!

Revealed a new (what is presumably) main character of Bonnie, an outsider with a troubled past and a connection to Alyssa. It will be set two years after the events of the first series.

tbh I kind of hope James isn’t in it as I’m uncertain about the need for a second series and most series where I feel like that suffers by trying to undo the events of the previous series and try and recreate that magic. I feel this will be a good series to tell a new story with Alyssa, whilst keeping that individual style that made the first so great.

Series 2 starts on Channel 4 on November 4th (a day before the rest of the world on Netflix!)

Two new episodes will air every night at 10pm from Monday to Thursday - and it won't be on Netflix UK at all for now.

Yeah I'm unsure about a second series of this. The first series was so good and contained that a second series could spoil that.

Hopefully i'm proved wrong

I'm willing to give it a chance, they changed quite a bit of the source material and still worked to their advantage so they may have more of a vision, and the ending was a real tease! I'd be interested to see how it could possibly get any darker or the adults get any more horrible, it really feels like nothing's off limits here! laugh.gif

Just realised the actress who plays Alyssa is 27! She's said she considered not returning because she felt too old to portray a teenager - but the head writer convinced her by saying all the characters would be older, so there will be a time shift in the show

(fairly minor spoiler)
