Former world snooker champion Shaun Murphy is to attempt to qualify for next month's Open Golf Championship at Royal Portrush.
Murphy's scratch handicap means he can play in the regional qualifier at County Louth in Ireland on 24 June. The Englishman previously caddied for a friend in Open Championship qualifying. |

Northern Ireland's two-time World Championship semi-finalist Joe Swail has retired as a professional player.
The Belfast man has taken the decision "due to various health/mental reasons needed to compete at the top level". Swail, 49, finished the 2018/19 season 89th in the world rankings after a 10-1 defeat by Joe O'Connor in the World Championship qualifiers. |

China's Yan Bingtao became the first teenager for 13 years to win a ranking title with a 5-2 win over Mark Joyce in the final of the Riga Masters.
The 19-year-old world number 21 dominated the 54th-ranked Englishman and a break of 66 sealed victory. Yan is the youngest ranking title winner since compatriot Ding Junhui won the 2006 Northern Ireland Open aged 19. |
