When it was announced that Scott Mills was taking over the Radio 1 chart show last year it was also announced that it would be extending to end at 7pm with the final hour having more chart related stuff but Friday Dance Anthems carried on in the end in this slot. Wonder why this odd change of plan.

Wasn't it the Sunday afternoon/evening chart-related show that was extending back to 7pm, because it took on the 'first look', rather than the Friday evening chart show?

Party Anthems is SUPREME and does not deserve to be axed in favour of a 3 hour chart. It works not playing every single song ha

But oddly they also said the number 1 would still be announced at the same time, so God knows what that last hour was going to be. Perhaps it was just a miscommunication?

I think the chart works quite well as 1.45 and agree, Party Anthems is a great show.

it would've been nice if they did the normal chart from 4-5.45 then an hour of retro chart picks afterwards.
but I work Friday evenings so can't listen to it live anyway so the Sunday First Look chart works better for me.

On the bank holidays when the chart runs for two hours (4-6pm) I always find that to be the perfect length of time for the show. It feels a bit rushed fitting it into 1 hour 45 minutes, but I don't think it needs to be extended to the full three hours either. I know that's difficult to do though when the news is a requirement.

I think the extra hour might have been a similar idea to the short-lived Number One Show on Sunday evenings in 2015-16?
