Another month away? I love Clean Bandit and everything they’ve released this era has been amazing but why are we constantly waiting so long... Demi is a nice surprise though and she’s proven (twice) that she can do dance really well, not quite Jess Glynne or Sam Smith though

Edit: To add to that, it’s quite funny that since this era’s first single, Tears, the featured artist has actually changed her name since it was released it was that long ago I wonder if it gets on the album she’ll be credited as Louisa or Louisa Johnso

I can't say I'm particularly hyped for a Demi Lovato feature but to be fair she was pretty good on 'Instruction' (and I wasn't massively enthused by Julia Michaels featuring on their last single either but I ended up liking that quite a bit). Once again though, people kept saying this would be Jess Glynne or Sam Smith and it turns out that was completely made up

definitely interested in hearing how this turns out. Big fan of both of them and CB rarely disappoint as well (well I Miss You was only just above average for me but was still enjoyable). Demi has shown ability to pull off dance features too!

Well going by their latest output I suspect it will be dance-pop, that's just what we should expect from them now. 'I Miss You' was still rather dancey but I hope this new one is a bit more uptempo like 'Symphony'.

They're obviously going for the whole "5 senses" thing with sight, sound, taste, and touch already here. I can't wait for the smell artwork that is just a nose I suppose that'll be the final single before album release too.

But kinda against that, they've now made their little sort of logo with the shapes from each artwork lining up. Unless they've decided to add a fifth shape to match with the above theory, the next artwork might not be so predictable

edit: There's also a bit of a city - rural, night - day pattern going on I think. Although I might just be making that up tbh analysing Clean Bandit artworks is surprisingly fun

Well I am not looking forward to it after that review The comparison to Anywhere by Rita Ora for the chopped vocals makes it sound like it is going to be generic , the emphasis on it being pop and the lack of mention of any sort of danciness to it too isn't what I was hoping for .....Well maybe I suppose the site is called popjustice so they probably would emphasize the pop aspects!

I found it seriously underwhelming when it first premiered, but it's probably my most listened to song of theirs now. The Cahill remix in particular goes off. 'Tears' is the weak link of this 'era' for me.

'Solo' is really strong, it reminds me of 'Rockabye' in how instant it clicked with me. Can easily see this reaching #1.

Oh thank god I'm not alone on I Miss You, that really doesn't sound like them, they've always felt joyous aside from that one, which is just kind of depressing and dull. Symphony and Rockabye are some of the best pop songs of the last couple of years, that's probably one of the worst. They should never ditch the orchestral-pop sound ever again.

The sound of this is a lot more promising, Demi's been underrated recently.

I get ‘I Miss You’ (and appreciate those drums!) but it still just falls so flat for me that my finger always hovers over the skip button.

Not heard this yet but I feel like if they don’t announce the album within this single campaign, its never coming at all and they’ll just release two singles a year.

I'm actually very disappointed in this.

I have no doubt it's going to be a huge smash worldwide but I find this weaker than 'I Miss You', 'Symphony' and 'Tears', of course I could grow to love it but this has been the least instant Clean Bandit single in a while for myself.

The strings in the post-chorus is very familiar, it's not a sample, is it?

This is a bit of a bop, although a part of me anticipates it burning out and not holding up in the same way Tears/Rockabye/Symphony did. An improvement on 'I Miss You' anyway.

Where do people stand on whether or not Disconnect was a single? It seems pretty clear that it wasn't - different artwork theme, no video, no promotion, old material. Wasn't it just thrown out for fans after they'd been asking for it?

Solo is like the lovechild of Symphony and Rockabye tbh. It's got the classic CB feel like Symphony did but is very obviously keeping up with trends (in a good way) like Rockabye was. I Miss You is a bit of an outlier but it's still a 10/10 Clean Bandit bop, hopefully the album will find more middle ground between Symphony and I Miss You which I think are two vastly different song styles

Disconnect I agree is 100% not a single but I hope it makes it on to the album (a deluxe version at the very least)

Nice of Demi Lovato to invite her pet duck for a guest verse

The pre-chorus will take some getting used to, but the strings/house drop in the chorus still works wonders and Demi's not actually too OTT on this which I feared. Pretty decent effort overall, I continue to be pleasantly surprised they remain almost as good as ever (and remaining to be chart saviours ofc.)

Love it! Had it on repeat today - they're really keeping UK pop alive at the moment. It's pretty on trend but still sounds so fresh. Once again Demi has done a great job, who knew UK dance features were going to be her strong point?! This and Instruction are my fave two songs involving her.

and the chorus is kinda silly, overall it's almost like a novelty hit with them silly lyrics

Yeah, Miss You was their most subtle and risky song really. It's low key a ballad.

The Solo video is a bit all over the place. It's a bop though, but it's not as great as most of the rest of their stuff.

I agree! This has more of a Latin sound to it rather than tropical.

It's not their best but it's a far more interesting video than say, One Kiss. I generally find videos do barely anything now in terms of impact (with a few notable exceptions of course) so it won't be detrimental to the song's performance at all.

Which is great as I'm proper loving this now!

The point of the Yxng Bane remix is probably to get the song on certain Spotify playlists and give the song extra streams, it wasn't ever going to be pushed properly.

Clean Bandit know better than anyone to release loads of different versions to get on all the Spotify playlists: original, rap remix, Latin remix, dance remixes, acoustic version. Every little helps the song's total stream count.

Yes, and not forgetting Seeb's remix of Stitches was semi-successful, and their remix of Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza went all the way to number one as well. This could indeed be a boost for the song.
