The first official trailer for HBO and Amy Adams' forthcoming television drama Sharp Objects has been released.

Based on Gillian Flynn's debut novel, Sharp Objects follows Chicago-based reporter Camille Preaker (Amy Adams), who is sent back to her Missouri hometown to investigate the death of a small girl and the disappearance of another just months after being released from a psychiatric hospital for self-harm.

SO excited about this! I've literally been checking for news about this since 2015 (it was officially announced all the way back in 2014) so it's nice to finally get some concrete news laugh.gif

I read the book an age ago and all I'm going to say is you absolutely have to watch this when it premieres! If it's as good as the book, it's going to be one of the absolute TV highlights of the year. It's SO gripping and every bit as Gone Girl imo.

Oh god I read this book back in 2014/5 and found it incredible and completely chilling. I don't remember 100% of what happens in it but seeing all the names attached to this make me so excited to see how it's been adapted!

If this is even a fraction as good as the book, then it will be THE Tv highlight of the century and of Amy's career, she is going to nab all awards.

More Amy news -

https://variety.com/2018/film/news/woman-in...ams-1202860189/

Hyped already. "The Woman In The Window" is my fave read of 2018 so far and I can't recommend it highly enough - especially if you're a fan of psychological thrillers!

I think they'll really push The Woman In The Window, and her star will be even bigger after SO, so it might be her Oscar moment. I imagine Backseat will get her buzz and a GG nom but nothing more sad.gif

Got the book last week and can't wait to read it *.* i LOVE how Amy is doing these grittier roles.

I think she's winning atm for Backseat unless the film underperforms! She seems by far the frontrunner in Supporting Actress atm <3

Reviews are in and it's thankfully receiving a LOT of praise! wub.gif

Currently 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 85% on Metacritic.

Reading through some reviews and here's a few highlights -

QUOTE
"I don’t think this is going to be easy viewing, but it might just be brilliant."

"The mystery at the heart of the plot has a focused feeling of psychological discomfort to it that Red Dragon and The Silence Of The Lambs uses to great effect"

"The awards potential preordained by Adams' casting is more than justified by her performance. (Adams is so good you only rarely stop and try to do the math on how old the show wants Camille to be and whether Adams makes sense as Clarkson's daughter or if teenage characters could have remembered idolizing Camille when they were kids.)"

"Adams, who has already become one of the best actresses working today, delivers what is going to be her career-defining role as Camille Preaker."

"Make no mistake, Sharp Objects is absolutely focused on Amy Adams powerhouse performance, but Patricia Clarkson almost steals her thunder in a role that could easily go down as one of the most haunting in cinematic history."

"Believe me when I say that Sharp Objects is going to be the most talked about thing this summer, television or big screen. This is a nail-biter in the very definition of the word. You will find yourselves theorizing, analyzing, and questioning every episode for the two months HBO will be airing this series and you will not be disappointed when it comes to an end. Sharp Objects grabs you and refuses to let go. You will feel every grimy corner, every jagged edge, and every backstab that comes your way. This is the definition of event television."

"Overall, Sharp Objects is an impressive piece of television destined to turn heads and win multiple Emmy’s."

"'Sharp Objects' is the best series on HBO since the first season of 'True Detective.'"

I just finished the book and OMG I think Patricia is the perfect Adora wub.gif and Amy really fits my mental image of Camille.

Also I think the ages fit in terms of casting laugh.gif Adora was meant to have been a young mother and Camille is early/mid 30's right? Amy can pretty easily pass for that.

Can see the two of them winning the Golden Globe and Emmy next year for this.

I can't for the life of me remember what happens at the end of the book laugh.gif I keep trying to think (its been 3 years since I read it tbf - all I really remember is the fact it was my fave read of 2015) but I'm not coming up with anything which I guess is good because I'll be guessing what happens like everybody else while watching it!

Up to 88% on RT biggrin.gif
