San Marino
Serhat - I Didn't Know

Posted by: Mr J▲hqbiz 30th November 2015, 06:29 PM

Nothing yet but hopefully they're inviting Michele back heart.gif

I've also heard that the below was almost the 2015 entry before they decided 'nah' and brought in Ralph and Anita

I think they made the RIGHT CHOICE

Posted by: AdamAloud 30th November 2015, 06:31 PM

NO!

Posted by: Ryan. 4th January 2016, 05:29 PM

San Marino have confirmed to ESC United that they have already selected their entry, I hope it's a return for one of or a combination of Valentina, Michele or Anita! kink.gif

Posted by: Serg Mix 6th January 2016, 04:20 PM

Valentina please. She's a star!

Posted by: AdamAloud 9th January 2016, 05:48 PM

The artist announcement is this Tuesday.

Posted by: Ryan. 9th January 2016, 05:49 PM

*.* Apparently there's a chance it isn't a Siegel song, and potentially an "international artist" like with Kamilla in Juniro Eurovision. We shall wait and see and it will end up being Valentina with a Siegel song after all!

Posted by: LexDANCE 9th January 2016, 06:18 PM

Specific rumour I've seen around a bit is that it's a Turkish singer.

Posted by: Ryan. 9th January 2016, 06:24 PM

Yeah I read that too but it originated from Oiko Times so I'm unconvinced considering their reputation, although I'd quite like to see that happen! It'd be nice to see San Marino benefit from Turkish diaspora votes and do well heehee.gif

According to ESC Kaz, the representative is an "established professional, a name certainly already known in Europe". This means one of two things, it's either Valentina again or, because ESC Kaz are aware, it's a well-known artist from the Eastern bloc as they are very aware of info from Eastern Europe.

It's Turkish singer Serhat

*Not the entry

Posted by: J▲hq 12th January 2016, 01:04 PM

There I was keeping everything crossed for a Turkish twink.

Posted by: Silas 12th January 2016, 04:14 PM

Nei takk

Posted by: Ryan. 12th January 2016, 04:40 PM

Well I wasn't expecting that, I was almost sure Valentina was returning! So the first non-Siegel entry since 2011, the production on the track above seems promising if a little Electro Velvet but his vocals certainly aren't promising. That said, I'm interested to see what he comes up with and there's a chance it could be more modern than San Marino's last few entries!

Posted by: Ryan. 9th March 2016, 03:05 PM

This premiered around half an hour ago although it seems San Marino TV and/or Eurovision are too ashamed to upload the music video. Luckily (or not so luckily) for us, we can watch the video via https://www.periscope.tv/w/1lPKqjAjZdbGb and skipping to 22 minutes 40 seconds in.

The hesitant clapping at the end of the press conference says it all, dreadful!

Posted by: Ryan. 9th March 2016, 03:12 PM

Better quality here:

Posted by: AdamAloud 9th March 2016, 03:16 PM

It's not even iconically shit like Chain Of Lights or Facebook uhohohhuhhohh, it's just plain shit.

Posted by: Ryan. 9th March 2016, 03:17 PM

Bring back Ralph Siegel for 2017 (if they don't withdraw over the voting complaints)!

Posted by: sugabloke 9th March 2016, 03:24 PM

There is only one word to say:

FLUSH!

Posted by: Eyes 9th March 2016, 03:24 PM

You know, I don't actually see a single way I can defend that. And I was really really looking.

The vocals would be more suited to performing on an ASMR insomnia video.

Why have you posted that song THREE TIMES now Ryan manson.gif

Posted by: Vülker 9th March 2016, 03:34 PM

Watch this causing an upset in May for qualifying over one of the high profile entries. nocheer.gif

Anyone else thinks the EBU should have an 'expert panel' to give entries the 'green light' in order to guarantee the Contest has some top quality tunes? This year is so rubbish... nocheer.gif nocheer.gif

If it were in semi 2, perhaps, and I expect a haul of points from Azerbaijan but I don't think so. Turkey didn't qualify once when they had the name, and with a song that's better than this pile of garbage. First half, 'stronger' semi, no Italy (not that I'd expect them to necessarily even give points here), no Germany, forgettable and bad, I can't see a single route this has to qualification.

I think this year is just a couple of fab entries away from being at least on par with last year, if not better thanks to the variety of this year in terms of tempos. Hopefully Australia will provide one of them and I'd love the other to come from Lithuania but I feel like they are going to go with Erica over Donny (please don't though Lithuania as you have a chance of a Eurovision top 5 with the latter!). Bulgaria, Serbia and the Czech Republic all have a chance to spring a surprise also!

I'm not expecting much from Greece, but the remaining seven entries after them (the five mentioned above plus Azerbaijan and Sweden) and the promised overhaul from Albania should all bring at least good to great entries based on their (sometimes rumoured) artist selections or national finals.

Well you say that but then you have Belarus going Top 5 in their SF back in 2014 with an universally panned song without the aid of their usual allies while Israel languished in the bottom of the pile or Moldova scraping through 2011 over other favourites too. And let's not forget Valentina managed to qualify without any of those countries in her SF too (although Crisalide is a masterpiece compared to this ofc). It'll all be in the staging and how it comes across in the telecast and if the juries will be out of their minds or something. I can easily see it being a nul pointer but I'll be preparing myself for the worst.

Of course I would be saying the cliché "this year is not as good as last year", but I'm beginning to think a EBU Entry Framework would be a good thing to improve the overall quality of the Contest. {Silas to begin working on it asap}

Posted by: ScottyEm 9th March 2016, 04:38 PM

I remember feeling the same about last years Eurovision around about this time ie being a bit rubbish but it all came together very nicely for the final. Lithuania will be good (for once) when they (hopefully) send Donny and Serbia looks at least interesting.

San Marino is now trending in the UK! laugh.gif

THE HYPE IS REAL.

Posted by: f1mad 9th March 2016, 05:39 PM

What a crock of shite

Posted by: Umi 9th March 2016, 08:03 PM

I don't know, I think it's pretty fabulously terrible. I think it's just bad enough in weird enough ways to be enjoyable. Another successful year for San Marino in my books.

Posted by: Liаm 9th March 2016, 09:40 PM

Oh my jesus christ what on EARTH is this? laugh.gif Utterly dreadful.

Posted by: Alex! 9th March 2016, 09:43 PM

This is one of the worst ever.

Posted by: Eyes 9th March 2016, 09:44 PM

Why am I getting drawn back to this ffs. It's almost hypnotic.

Posted by: Explozian 9th March 2016, 10:53 PM

on tinder like

This is entrancingly bad. So many moments in that video. I also like his stunning hat reveal to show off the sizeable leather strap tied around his beautiful bald head, and subsequent pleased face. OBVIOUS WINNER.

Posted by: SevenSeize 10th March 2016, 10:55 PM

I wholeheartedly approve of this.

Oh my god. Four upbeat remixes. And a karaoke version.

This confirms it's a massive pisstake *.*

The switch to the disco version CONFIRMED! *o*

Posted by: Ryan. 21st March 2016, 07:09 PM

With new video too (if you can call it that):

Posted by: Umi 21st March 2016, 07:13 PM

Honestly think I'd have found the original funnier in May.

Posted by: AdamAloud 21st March 2016, 07:14 PM

This is a big TWO FINGERS to the 'calculated televote result' *.*

Also the disco version makes it iconically shit as Sammarinese entries should be!

Posted by: Qassändra 21st March 2016, 07:19 PM

I hope it gets NUL POINTS for FULL EFFECT *.*

Posted by: 💯 21st March 2016, 07:23 PM

Omfg

I always wonder what goes through the heads of people who seriously thought this was good and chose it to represent a whole entire country (of 25 people but still)
