BuzzJack Music Forum _ Indie, Rock and Alternative _ Joanna Newsom 'Divers'

Posted by: ░░░░ 9th December 2014, 02:32 AM

"I’m working on something new – I should hopefully have a little more news soon,"

this in joanna's words mean expect a new record in 2015

anyone else a fan, 'ys' is probably my all time favourite record and the follow-up had such ridiculous expectations and 'good intentions' fixed that.

stunning / insane

oh my god oh my god oh my god

i'm excited!!! as someone who only really dabbled in what is a vast amount of discography minutes i can follow this from the get go so it hopefully digests a bit easier

can't deny she's incredibly talented.

Posted by: AntoineTTe 9th December 2014, 10:11 AM

Cool. Hope it's more easily digestible than the last one. Which I never really got into. Ys is astonishing.

'Yay'

Posted by: Breauxnderella 11th August 2015, 02:13 PM

Cannot stop playing this. So obsessed with this, it's not even funny.

Posted by: Cassidy 13th August 2015, 04:10 PM

Her GLARING OMISSION from Spotify means I'm struggling to muster the effort to access this regularly. FFS Joanna.

Wowowow this is amazing! So great to finally have some new music - and it's got me back into more of her old stuff too which is nice <3

Really dislike the lead track. Not sure if I'll bother buying it. I never even got the whole way through Have One On Me, once. Ys is still amazing.

As if I am going to do that biggrin.gif

Posted by: Pacifica 15th October 2015, 12:37 PM

The previews leaked so it means the whole thing will be out soon. IT'S LITERALLY A FUCKING TORTURE.

Listened to the previews just a bit. Can't spoil it for myself too much~ The album sounds like it's going to be her best yet. And 'You Will Not Take My Heart Alive' especially sounds PHENOMENAL.

If an artist releasing an album is torture then perhaps music isn't for you.

Posted by: Pacifica 15th October 2015, 01:23 PM

i'm not sure you read posts you reply to sometimes sad.gif

Posted by: Colm 15th October 2015, 02:33 PM

12 o'clock.

Posted by: Pacifica 18th October 2015, 09:48 AM

I really have never read more album reviews before than I have with this album. WHY WON'T IT LEAK GODDAMNIT

Posted by: Pacifica 19th October 2015, 10:02 AM

8.5 from p4k. Seems a bit too low and I haven't even heard the album. Because, guess what, IT STILL HASN'T LEAKED GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!

Posted by: Pacifica 19th October 2015, 08:59 PM

Love this too much. Was definitely worth the wait. Her most commercial album to-date by far. So deep and rich in sound. Lyrically stunning, as always (album starting with "Sending..." and ending with "...tran" *.* ).

brb crying how incredible this is

Posted by: Colm 20th October 2015, 04:23 PM

I'd really love to be able to get as much as you do out of modern music. I just don't.

So, the greatest album of all time then?

Posted by: Hennoween 27th October 2015, 07:40 AM

don't be so jealous, you might feel about something like this some day

Posted by: Cauldron 27th October 2015, 07:53 AM

It was a question - a barbed one but still a question.

By those scores is must be very close to being your favourite album ever, if not THE number 1?

Posted by: Hennoween 27th October 2015, 07:57 AM

It's been out there for a week and even though I listened to it at least 30 times by now, that's ridiculously early to tell. I'm not even entertaining the idea. Come back in a couple of years.

Posted by: Cauldron 27th October 2015, 07:59 AM

I suppose I associate scores like that with some sort of estimation of all time greatness where others are able to separate scoring an album at a point in time and it's all time status.

Posted by: Hennoween 27th October 2015, 08:13 AM

You might get bored in a year, you might find more dimensions in it 3 years later which will make you appreciate the record more. Longevity is a huge factor that shouldn't be ignored.

Posted by: Cauldron 27th October 2015, 09:30 AM

I totally agree. I mean, when I listen to Bloc Party's Silent Alarm is blows my mind but I still dont have it in my Top 10 albums ever - it just doesn't feel right to put it there.
