Can’t see anywhere past a flop for Madison so hoping Buzzjack does the opposite of Eurovision and gives good songs good results

Probably still too early to call it but Lotunia certainly looking in a solid position here, definitely does make sense as a winner. A few surprises in that top 10 though, FSR Rontvia didn't strike me as a big hit at all (but there's my inability to understand what pop songs do well as per, I see Lookylion and especially Altyr not doing amazingly well so far either...) and also didn't really call Sovarasma and Jadakissnia doing so well but not complaining at those if they hold where they are now!

Good evening, thank you to Altyr Muunilinst for hosting us once again and here are the final votes for BJSC 144 from Persephonia

Trifoski would have been our 18 easily if they had qualified but as the voters made the mistake of kicking that out, it's a lucky day for Greenfroze who capitalise on that to get our top marks for the first time ever after so many years of us participating together with their thoroughly off the wall Japanese banger. That screech note tho! This in fact marks their very first appearance in our medal positions as their previous high water mark was 12 points for SOFI TUKKER in BJSC 115, massively overdue for such a veteran country (albeit one that we don't often have much musical overlap with to be fair). Land of DW are a slightly more familiar face in the top 3 as their hypnotising electronic track (which we are very relieved made it out of semi 1, the only one of our initial top 5 of that semi to do so) takes 15 points, this is their fourth medal position finish for us after a gold for Cream Soda in BJSC 126 plus two previous silvers. Pestolia may have only been here for about 5 seconds but their glorious dark electronic rock offering lands our 13 points and that's already their second medal position for us from just 3 finalists, matching the bronze we gave to Mareux in BJSC 141. Rounding out the top 5 are a couple more electronic tracks from two all time faves (who seem to finish next to each other in our rankings all the time, often as our top 2 #blocvoting), 12 to Skall and 11 to Jadakissnia.

With an infectious spoken word synth banger from one of my former Club Bizarre artists, Summericia get our 10 points, and it's all various flavours of dance and electronic music in the remainder of the top 10 too, 9 points to the ever consistent Kathaldazia, 8 to a late big grower from Jupiterdonia (impact of lyrics so incomprehensible that people on Discord assumed they weren't in English), 7 to Aeroche and 6 to Danæviia. Following that block of dance entries there's a few rock entries in a row, 5 points go to Taahino serving that classic Taahino sound in one of its best iterations to date and earning them their first final points from us since Paramore in BJSC 123 (justice for Dream State tho), 4 points to the anime-theme-core entry from Zanmatony and 3 to ~~Taahino's other entry~~ POPHub who land their first points from us since Suad in BJSC 128. In a contest so completely dominated by pop songs, we... very easily could have just not voted for any of them to be honest but did ultimately find room for 2 points for Lookylion, and that surprises us as much as anyone else after being CHIEF HATERS of '4:15', this one is a lot better though and was a big last minute grower on a final relisten. Lookylion also end a relatively long points drought with this being the first time we've voted for them since Gregory Dillon in BJSC 130. Our mealworm point goes to another pop-ish entry, the entrancing D'yermak'er.

FANTASTIC result for Rontvia, one of the most instant tracks this year, I swear FSR Ashvia is on a roll this year *.* Also didn't expect Jupiterdonia being this high so kicking myself even more Glad to see Botanikka get a decent result after it looked like they weren't gonna get the needed justice earlier on!

24th is... fine, I guess I should be glad I still manage to qualify consistently even if the Cor Lupus descent into nugudom seems inevitable these days. Moral of the story is y'all need to pick my entries from now bc I am HORRIBLE at making decisions and listening to my heart, passing up on Rêve, Ylona, Noa, and now Claudia and TSEBA is just proof that I don't have a good judge of taste when it comes to this contest

Will do my usual double check of the final scoreboard when I am finished adding in the last 11 votes but in the mean time congratulations to Noche for picking up a second win and celebrating your anniversary in style! I have never been able to get quite as into M83's music as most of the people who I usually have similar music taste to and this song isn't really an exception to that unfortunately (I did like it but fell just short of my votes, I wanted to be blown away by it much more than I was) but I can certainly see the appeal. 'Parmi Les Mortels' remains the only winner so far this year that I have voted for, hopefully next month...

Cannot believe I finished top 10 with 'Tachi' did not see that coming at all, I was honestly hoping for somewhere in the 20s at best before the results kicked off tonight. I was actually bottom 5 in some odds fantastic to seal a top 10 for the year now, especially after starting 2022 off with a DNQ. At least one top 10 every year since I started competing lives on. My next planned entry is quite whacky so now I have an unexpected hit I'm even more inclined to send that one. Really pleased that this entry connected so much anyway, thanks for the love! Would definitely recommend the 'Neotokyo' soundtrack in general as I considered several songs from it.

Terra and Skall deserved better than languishing in the 30s but glad they qualified in the first place x

Congrats Lotunia! A great, epic-sounding standout entry. In the end 4 of my pointers (Lotunia, Aeroche, Jadakissnia and Tartford) made the top ten so not too bad, still some really robbed songs from FARC, Summericia, Greenfroze and Terra Avium to name just a few. Thanks for hosting Altyr, it's been a great contest.
Really happy with 27th, I was expecting mid-to-low-30s but that's my second best result to date (admittedly that doesn't mean much when I've had 3 finalists x). Thanks to anyone who enjoyed Four Phonica!

Disappointed with the 17th. Was hoping for low top 10 but once Bre complimented it, I knew I was doomed.

Congrats Lotunia, a big winner indeed! It's a nice song and was growing on me, I can see why it crossed all the voter bases and managed to win, and obviously a spot on choice of anniversary entry.

Thanks Rob for the final four points too, I'm elated and shocked to be 2nd! A year since Self Esteem went top ten and four years since Freya Ridings was our last hit this big so it's really cool to have another big smash. I had a feeling it could do quite well when I first heard it, which was funnily enough a month or two ago when it autoplayed on Spotify at the end of one of the BJSC semi playlists that month. I thought it was one of that month's entries and LOVED it so was about to assign it my 18 and then realised it wasn't and was excited that I could send it! I did not, however, expect it to come out on top with the pop voters on such a hugely strong month for the genre.

Thanks so much for the great and efficient hosting for a second month running John! Hope you can have a rest now.

Also so good to see Jupiterdonia, Kath and Tartford all making the top ten <3 The AQs are both lower than I'd expected, the results continue to throw up surprises every month.

Gosh, I think that's the second time this year my 18 has won, I don't think it's ever happened twice in a calendar year! *.* Congrats Lotunia, pretty much anything from M83 is an instant win for me and while I do tend to prefer giving it to discoveries, there just wasn't anything quite up to it this month!

Extremely pleased to see Jadakissnia and Jupiterdonia in the top 10 as I really didn't expect them, and Dobago and Tartford were two of the much better pop entries so I approve of that too, especially as I expected the top 10 to be littered with pop songs I don't get the appeal of x

That last run of votes really killed me, I was hoping for a little higher than the 30s, but I suppose it's back to business as usual after my two top 3s! Really happy it made a great impression on some of you though and hopefully the first of many 6Music adjacent entries from me this year

I'm absolutely out of words to be honest. I can't believe I have received a lot of high points from a combination of different nations! I'm very grateful and I hope I will send something similar and convincing in the future (Hiwwhee anyone?? ). Absolutely stoked to finish as my 2nd best position tonight! CHAL BADHE AAJ!!!!

Absolutely overjoyed to see Lotunia winning. This is an amazing winner! FSR Rontvia and Lookylion both shocked me to finish that high. Congratulations on getting medal positions! Hushkanukia achieves an amazing result though I'd love to see it even higher. This song flopped in another contest I'm in so glad to see this do well here. Cumulonimbia, Flynnonda and Greenfroze absolutely robbed unfortunately. Botanikka deserves higher too! This edition is quite iconic with a lot of memorable songs. Long may it continue! I also encourage risks taken as you'll never how that'll propagate!

Pretty much this, I probably should have noticed it but gave the 10 to Kylienips. It made no difference to the qualifiers thankfully.

Aquafina deserved much better than last place! Although it does mean I almost definitely shot myself in the foot giving them my +12 in the semi Ah well.

PHEW! I kept trying to do the maths with different possibilities and none of them resulted in any changes to qualifiers so I'm happy that's the case. So let's just sweep this under the carpet and Cody you can relish in the fact that you actually got 10 extra points in the semi xx

Oh I do hope I finish 7th as that would be a unique position. I don't think I got a single 18 skimming through the thread but a lot of mealworm points so that bodes well on that front. Edit: Yay. Thanks to all the votes, a pop entry paying off again! It's been a few years now (Cam being the previous one).

Well done to Lotunia, a very soaring track that was no surprise to see win. Impressed with FSR Rontvia in second, normally short songs (under 2 and a half minutes short I'm talking) don't have a great track record I'm thinking so that's great to see as it was the best pop entry this month imo. Actually my entire top 7 finished in the top half so this is a very pleasing set of results.

Happy to see that Lookylion did pick up later on in the results and finished with a medal position (and by quite some way at that!), 9th for it the last time I checked felt far too low for what seemed to me should surely be absolute catnip for the pop fans - only a few points off being another silver for Claudia in the end, that's more like it. The Holy Molly song's appeal is entirely lost on me I'm afraid but well done Rich, not too far off finally being another winner for you, surely has to happen again one of these days.

Once again only a small handful of songs I voted for in the top 10 (boosted from 3 to 4 courtesy of Hendinia's deduction x) but it's a really great surprise to see Jadakissnia being one of the ones in the mix there, I definitely didn't get big hit vibes from this song at all (certainly less so than I did for their last couple of entries which fell short of the top 10!), glad to see Aeroche in the top 5 + Jupiterdonia and Kathaldazia up there too even if the latter needed the Hendinia deduction to scrape 10th. Some good stuff lining up just outside the top 10, Taahino and POPHub finishing next to each other feels very appropriate (they very nearly were in my own votes too but I ended up being slightly more into 'High Hopes' so happy that ended up as the higher of the two). Meanwhile all of my top 3 ending up between 25th and 30th, I think I'd have predicted a little better for Land of DW and maybe Pestolia but that's a fairly good showing for Greenfroze.

Me having an entry that gets its one and only medal position from Altyr Muunilinst certainly wasn't on my bingo card for this year (or any year) Shame to have just missed the top 20 but that's still solidly my 2nd biggest hit of the year so far so am fairly happy with that, clearly not the kind of song that stands out enough to get the biggest points from anyone but getting 22nd with only one medal position is really not bad, received votes from 25 people which is actually my best of the year so far by some distance (even my top 10 hit only got 19 voters) so that's a win for wide appeal

I have an entry lined up for next month already (was actually torn between it and Yumi Zouma for this month but I held off on it as I thought someone else might have been planning to send it and didn't want to step on toes, the person in question didn't send it in the end though so I'm in the clear for next month I hope), excited to share that one as I am cautiously optimistic it might do quite well.

Seems I barely scraped through the semi’s then at 20th.

My final streak for 2022 now goes 35-34-30-29 so by that pattern my next position will be 25th. At least each month has been an improvement so far. Yet to find my first Top 20 finish for the year though but thank you everyone for your votes, especially Seyetana and Greenfroze for their 18’s.

some great tracks in the top 10 but i knew the pop tracks would divide the pop voters - there was just too much to choose from. well done to lotunia on the win! i think this is the most points i’ve ever given fsr rontvia; this one soared it was glorious, the melody is gorgeous.

loved the claudia valentina track but not as much as 4:15 so very slight gladness it didn’t beat that.

Congratulations Lotunia! I enjoyed the song, something I'd heard maybe a couple of times before and a good winner - though didn't quite make it into my votes. I love M83 and Susanne but I had others that sneaked ahead of it, strong final for my votes. FSR Rontvia nearly did, that sounded instant to me, not surprised to see it top 2.

Great to see Sovarasma doing very well in 12th, unfortunate to see Zanmatony and Greenfroze so low but I'm just glad especially the former snuck in at all, was so close to losing my 18 looking at those semi results.

I'll probably send a song very much like 'Spring Memory' in the near future, I say as if that wasn't obvious, a fantastic discovery for me. I don't have a song in mind but it in the final has inspired me to keep trying. 'Outsider' too.

Well done Lotunia. Admittedly didn't quite get the song to begin with took about 3 listens in the semi to end up as a 1 pointer but once I listened with everything in the final it clicked big time hence the bump to 10 points. The production did sound big though and it's great to see a different country winning that doesn't always happen.

Fab to see Rontvia as high as 2nd. I did think that sounded like a top 10 so to be in with a runner up is amazing to see. Really fun catchy generic tune that. I don't even remember that other Claudia song at all but this one was very good so I'm glad that takes up a solid top 3.

Echoing the surprise at Jade coming top 10, didn't see that coming or Jupiterdonia for that matter. I liked both though so good surprises there.

Ngl a bit disappointed to be that low as I had envisioned it being at least a top 20 type track but 28th is a new position in the 20's for us so we'll still gladily accept that. I'm just happy it wasn't bottom 10 as even myself didn't think it deserved that haha.

Devault did disappointingly for me in Club Bizarre as well unfortunately! Agreed that 'HEAVEN'S GATES' also deserved better. (Forgot to mention it in my commentary but me giving that 10 points was the highest I've given you since VNV Nation, been too long)

Congrats NocheLuna! That was a brilliant rediscovery for me, a song I'd forgotten about over the years despite loving it at the time. 'Shot a friend' is a terrific runner-up, I'm shocked to hear it was overlooked as a contender! Great results overall with 3 of my top 4 making the official top 4 <3 Where was the love for Aquafina though, that Mary Mary sample was fantastic. Even without the deduction their score is appalling!

Wow, my entry got a lot of big points toward the end, climbing out of the top 10 and even the top 15! 26th is easily my best result of the year so far. Thanks especially to Lotunia, Yehesi and Jupiterdonia for the 15s and Hendinia for the 13! In Harmonica-adjacent news, top 20 for Scherzland is great justice being served for VINCINT DNQing when I sent him.

Looks like you would have squeaked in in 19th even with the full deduction, yes!
