Madonna will release 'Dark Ballet', the final pre-album song for Madame X, on 7th June.
We've heard excerpts of the song during her Met Gala 2018 and Eurovision 2019 performances and insiders have hailed the song as an album highlight. Madonna herself revealed on Twitter today that the song was probably her favourite. In another tweet, she revealed it was inspired by A Clockwork Orange. QUOTE Probably Dark Ballet. because the song changes gears so many times. It starts off one way, then it becomes classical. A lot of modern and classical sounds. .Some more details in an interview with TÊTU magazine: QUOTE TÊTU: In the song ‘Dark Ballet’, you say «Your world is full of pain». You are not a part of «our world»?
Madonna: I am not saying that your world is not mine anymore. I am just saying that this world where people are ruled and dominated by the illusion of fame and luck, ruled, dominated and slaved by social networks, ruled and dominated by oppressors who discriminate endlessly people.. this world, I refuse to be a part of it. This song, Dark Ballet, was inspired by Joan of Arc and her story. It’s like a junction point. Madame X and Joan of Arc come together. I speak her words and her language and I say: «I am not afraid to die for what I believe in.» And this is exactly what I feel. |

Really like that artwork! Didn't realise we'd be getting a video with it too so that's a nice surprise.
I see that the excerpt from last year's Met Gala when the song was titled 'Beautiful Game' hasn't been completely changed. Interested in hearing how it all pieces together. |

Ok so I heard this on twitter via a link from someone who lives in Australia.
I’m obv buying it as well but it’s just so wtf! One of her most bizarre songs in a good way It would fit in pretty well on the Music album tbh. It’s very Music era I’d say.
I so wish she performed all of this at Eurovision now! I think amongst Madonna’s fan base it’ll be pretty well received but it will take a few listens to get as the first I’d say three times you hear it you’re just trying to get to grips with it. |

Just heard it - I like! The two performances of it we've heard so far give the basic jist of it but they work together well. It's a little left field but I don't it's too odd. She's kinda telling a story, not too dissimilar to Mer Girl really. The piano melody is lovely and there's little flourishes from Mirwais throughout.
It's like Medellin is the catchy opening song to draw you to the album and Dark Ballet is where she introduces you to the story of the album. Reminds me of how Future Lovers follows the one-two-three punch of hits on Confessions. |

Just watched the video! Visually stunning and a powerful concept. Madonna's only appears for a couple of seconds but it's great even without her being the focus.
It's going down really well with fans and I reckon critics will approve as well. |
