And Trump has made thinly veiled racial jibes at Nikki Haley - such a scumbag.

Well we now have a pretty pure test of 'is there enough anti-Trump feeling in the Republican Party to think about life without him' - the answer is almost certainly no but if it's there then it will manifest with Haley in New Hampshire and if not then we can put to bed any argument that the Republican Party isn't a one-man band.
DeSantis probably one of the worst mainstream primary candidates ever, good riddance. |

And in the hope he didn’t win, would Trump be the first person to lose 3 times on votes alone?

Trump will be the second. His clown show cannot be stopped, and especially not by Biden's Jimmy Carter numbersm bernie would have destroyed him both time, with an even bigger lead the second round Even IF he loses, by some miracle, he'll be back in 2028 anyway! THE republican psrty is basicallya cult of personality now; it'll be Trump, then either dictator Trump, or a long line of Trump family members.

It's weird - Trump is leading Biden in head to head in Presidential election polling but have the Republicans done well in any recent elections - it especially seems that if they "Fight Woke they Go Broke", despite their idiotic slogan saying the other. I still don't see him winning on the day - although of course him and his deranged supporters will undoubtedly claim he's got a landslide!

Trump predicted to win by a margin of 10 percentage points over Haley in New Hampshire according to the NYT. It's over - Trump vs Biden rematch. God help the world

It was sort of closer than I expected in New Hampshire? The turnout was also actually relatively high compared to past NH GOP primaries. I want to see some stats from other states to give me a better feel of how this race is going to go but division is good in the Republican party and high turnout coupled with a not complete blowout means... potentially a less comfortable walk (but still a victory, obvs) to the nomination for Trump, if the feeling was that it's all over it'd be lower turnout and a more decisive margin.
Also that independents swung hard for Haley here is a good sign for the Democrats. |

Trump being surprisingly reflective and incredibly gracious about his NH win over Haley Serious - out of all the tyrants in the world, Trump must be the only one that talks like a spoilt 4 year old. And very threatening to Nikki Haley. Not a fan of her as she's a horrible transphobe who'd sell her own soul for power (look at the way she denies her previously stated racial experiences) but kudos that she is carrying on with so much hostility stirred up by Trump and his mob. |

The situation in America has parallels with the U.K. In both countries, the two main parties have leaders neither of whom are very popular or inspiring. Biden is dull and boring. Trump is full of baloney and dangerous. Sunaq is out of touch and weak and Starmer is just dull and uninspiring. That creates a situation where many feel there is no real alternative. I think the outcome will be very close in the states and it could literally go either way. The polls will also narrow more in the UK too nearer the election and we could still end up with a hung parliament but with labour as the biggest party.

Good to see Putin still trying to influence things by granting an interview with "truth speaker" Tucker. Can see where this is going, Biden is going to be dragged in to a massive hole on this issue.

Yep and Biden is just no way fit to be US President due to his health - I mean Trump clearly isn't either but these are the crazy times we live in. One thing that does raise a question is how would Trump winning and US becoming closer to Putin affect World politics? I know it would be horrific for Ukraine (and Europe) but Russia isn't pro Israel, so could it be good news for the Palestinians as there would be pressure on the US to stop being Israel's piggy bank for their endless supply of bombs?

Biden definitely had a pretty disastrous night, calling President Sisi (of Egypt) the president of Mexico. Part of me wonders (hopes) that they're preparing Harris to take over. Would be a smart decision, even if she's also a weak candidate, against Trump she'd probably neutralise the attacks he's been building up to because the Republicans will leap on any evidence of senility on Biden's part.
The Putin interview sounds laughable, going on about the history of Russia and the demons in the West (I haven't watched it, I will, but that's the vibe I'm hearing). Which is good actually, some extreme people have been painting Putin as a reasonable nationalist counterpart over in Russia, but seeing that he's just (as everyone sane knew) a dictator bent on Russian revanchism with no real desire to get closer with the West is good evidence to quash alternative stances towards him from the West. |

At one point Putin mocked Carlson for applying to be join the CIA and getting rejected when he was younger as it "was a serious organisation". Complete snark there! But Putin then blames Poland for Hitler invading them because they "overplayed their hand". |
