Howdy again folks! So I'd been toying with the idea of bringing back the CDSWAP contest that we always used to run but the last couple didn't really work out... so I thought I'd try something slightly different this year. The basic aim is still very similar, those who sign up would still make a mixtape (or playlist) as you see fit. You can still create your own artwork for it if you want to, you can still remove the tags so people don't know what they're listening to if you want to... however the difference this year would be that we'd take it turns over the course of the year and then share our mixtapes with the rest of Buzzjack who are then free to review/rave about/discover whatever gems you choose to include on yours - no huge pressure to do a full review, the thread would be just like any other for an album where people can comment on whatever they wish. The idea behind the revamp is that we would then get around the issue we had with CDSWAP where someone puts a lot of work in just for their sole recipient to not bother reviewing it. Anyway this is all just an idea at this point... thought it was worth posting the idea for all to see and get a sense of how many people would be interested in taking part, either creating or merely just listening to them. If you are interested in taking part then please shout up in the thread and I'll begin to put some of timeline together, I was originally thinking one a month or something like that. If you've signed up then I'll drop you a PM each month when the mixtape has been compiled by that month's host and I'll start a thread in the indie forum for your thoughts on it. There's no restriction on content, it can be whatever you want it to be from a late night chill mix, fictional soundtrack, full on popfest or obscure indie acts, basically wherever your imagination takes you. Alternatively you may just want to listen, in which case also shout up and I'll add you to the PM list whenever a new one has been created. So then... any thoughts people? The last CD Swap went mostly fairly well in the end didn't it? Even I eventually got my review done!
Definitely interested in partaking again in whatever format it might be revived in anyways ~ |

I was actually quite pleased with it too given everyone reviewed, but there was still issues with the length of time it took, which hopefully this one will fix given there's no total obligation. I'm obvs up for this! |

Fabulous! Glad there's some interest, I'll keep a list in the first post of those who I think are playing along.

Add me to the list.
I'm still waiting for my CD Swap to be reviewed 5 years on, but I've since realised that train has sailed. |

If it's well structured, then it would be good. Obviously the worry is that people are lazy and never get around to reviewing it at all if they're never forced to listen. I hope that this isn't the case and at least some people will attempt to make an effort for whoever's turn it is, but I am interested in using this as a way to get me to listen to stuff.

Ooh I like this idea more than the traditional CD Swap format. I actually wasn't going to participate in future CD Swaps but if this lets you listen without the effort of making a CD/mixtape then I'm more apt to participate.

I might consider this... Would a Spotify playlist suffice? (I've been almost fully Spotified now, don't even have iTunes installed currently!) Ideally I'd prefer to include mostly lesser known gems in mine but I feel as tho I've already randomly whored all of those out during plug.dj sessions 😂

Yes you do! Just things don't have to be a discovery either, I may still enjoy a Mattias curated playlist even if I already know everything on it!
