Welcome to my second reshuffle EOY (see the 2018 one here), which hopefully this time I'll finish before May magic.gif My shape-defying (proto-hopscotch?) creation above features every reshuffle top 2 hit of 2019. (Billie's album cover counts for both 'bury a friend' and 'bad guy')

Just like last year, this is counted from the 52 reshuffle weeks based on the OCC charts revealed in 2019 - so that's from the OCC's W/C 04/01/2019 to W/C 27/12/2019, or in other words, the Christmas clearout week to the peak Christmas week.

Despite being a 10-years-old concept designed in a completely different (and likely more BJ-friendly) chart environment, 2019 was a pretty thriving year for the reshuffle chart! The first week of the year got a boost in voting numbers higher than any week of 2018, which I thought was just because of attention created by my 2018 EOY thread's opening, but then that boost just... never faded. Every week of 2019 got more voters than almost every week of 2018:

That gives 2019 a total of 1,393 votes (an average of 26.8 per week), up 42% from 2018's total of 979 (average 18.8). I can also confirm that 2019 got more votes in total than any year from 2009-2013 (but probably not 2014, and I don't know about 2015-2017... yet).

106 songs placed in the top 10 sometime during 2019, slightly up from 100 in 2018 - though literally 30% of them are 1-weekers, ready to flood the mid-section of the world's only countdown where the least relevant songs land in the middle by default.

57 people voted during 2019, which is actually down from 69 in 2018, but 2019 had a lot more dedicated regulars - including as many as 7 who never missed a single week (and 4 very close calls) ohmy.gif 3 of those (Dircadirca, LewisGT and me) (and Dobbo bar an unlucky miss) also voted every week of 2018; that's over 100 weeks in a row.

Here are all the voters of 2019, along with the songs they gave the most and least points to:

And here are the first 6 songs:

#106. Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care

-584 total points | +5s: 13; -5s: 66 | Entry: 17 May 2019 | Weeks: 12 | Run: 10-10-10-9-9-9-9-10-10-x1-10-10-10
Average vote: -1.87 (rank #96; from 312 votes) | Positive votes: 26% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -22.24 (rank #106)

Most points given: Dobbo (+60, all +5s), Riser (+41, avg +3.7), WhoOdyssey (+29, avg +2.4)
Least points given: marcinjaro (-57, avg -4.8), West (-51, avg -4.6), Bjork (-51, avg -4.6)

I am surprised to see this land at the bottom! Even with Ed Sheeran's long history of reshuffle #10s, this has always felt to me like it would be one of his more agreeable songs, being, y'know, not a ballad. I think it helps that there weren't any long-running top 10 hits this year that were full-on hated, but it really did rack up a sea of low votes - 57% of all the votes it ever got were -3 or below, with only one dedicated fan to dole out the +5s:

As '2002' ranked at the bottom last year, this makes 2 years in a row of Ed Sheeran-involved songs taking the anti-crown. I expect 'Perfect' or 'Shape Of You' would've been the one for 2017, too.

#105. Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

-487 total points | +5s: 23; -5s: 43 | Entry: 10 May 2019 | Weeks: 15 | Run: 10-9-9-8-8-8-8-6-8-9-10-8-9-8-8
Average vote: -1.26 (rank #80; from 387 votes) | Positive votes: 31% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -18.84 (rank #105)

Most points given: WhoOdyssey (+70, avg +4.7), coi (+56, avg +3.7), jimwatts (+56, avg +4.3)
Least points given: Rush (-64, avg -4.3), LMLou (-63, avg -4.5), ...ready for it (-61, avg -4.1), Villages (-61, avg -4.1)

#104. Tom Walker - Just You And I

-483 total points | +5s: 12; -5s: 52 | Entry: 1 Mar 2019 | Weeks: 11 | Run: 10-10-9-8-8-8-9-8-9-8-9
Average vote: -1.56 (rank #88; from 309 votes) | Positive votes: 27% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -17.22 (rank #104)

Most points given: WhoOdyssey (+48, avg +4.4), PeteFromLeeds (+33, avg +4.1), Riser (+18, avg +3.6)
Least points given: brokenrecords (-55, all -5s), coi (-54, avg -4.9), Rush (-53, avg -4.8), Villages (-53, avg -4.8)

#103. Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved

-384 total points | +5s: 55; -5s: 98 | Entry: 1 Feb 2019 | Weeks: 21 | Run: 8-9-7-7-6-6-7-6-5-7-7-7-6-7-8-8-8-9-10-7-x2-9
Average vote: -0.67 (rank #67; from 577 votes) | Positive votes: 42% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -14.27 (rank #103)

Most points given: Bjork (+92, avg +4.6), JosephStyles (+84, avg +4.2), coi (+81, avg +3.9)
Least points given: Dircadirca (-98, avg -4.7), Dobbo (-98, avg -4.7), LewisGT (-92, avg -4.4)

#102. Ed Sheeran feat. Khalid - Beautiful People

-337 total points | +5s: 2; -5s: 48 | Entry: 5 Jul 2019 | Weeks: 9 | Run: 7-8-7-7-7-9-10-8-9
Average vote: -1.44 (rank #84; from 234 votes) | Positive votes: 35% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -12.97 (rank #102)

Most points given: Dircadirca (+23, avg +2.6), WhoOdyssey (+21, avg +2.3), chrissmith276 (+17, avg +4.3)
Least points given: brokenrecords (-45, all -5s), Riser (-45, all -5s), LewisGT (-44, avg -4.9)

#101. Joel Corry - Sorry

-327 total points | +5s: 12; -5s: 37 | Entry: 23 Aug 2019 | Weeks: 8 | Run: 9-8-8-9-9-9-10-10
Average vote: -1.56 (rank #87; from 210 votes) | Positive votes: 31% | Total weekly Points Per Voters: -12.45 (rank #101)

Most points given: Dobbo (+39, avg +4.9), photografdemon (+32, avg +4.6), ElectroBoy (+18, avg +2.6)
Least points given: Dircadirca (-40, all -5s), Brι (-37, avg -4.6), jimwatts (-35, avg -4.4)

Of course, Lewis Capaldi's extreme longevity makes it easy for him to place this low, even though he's never really done that poorly on the reshuffle chart, with enough consistent high voters (shoutout to WhoOdyssey, who provided him with as many as 195 points across the year) to cancel out his consistent low voters. 'Someone You Loved', in particular, ranks #67 by average vote, only pushed this low by having 21 weeks for those mildly negative totals to rack up. Its longevity is also very visible in the list of voters in the OP, where 19 people have it as either their top or bottom song.

Not unlike Lewis Capaldi later, Tom Walker dusted off an aging track (I had it in mind as 2017 but it was in fact 2016) and turned it into a 2019 hit, though in Tom Walker's case he did re-record it, and sneakily renamed the original to '(Acoustic)'. Impressive that it's not the only 2016 song with a 2019 version in this list. Unfortunately neither version carried the... Rag'n'Bone Man Goes Electronic vibe of 'Leave A Light On' and its unsuccessful follow-up 'My Way', and perhaps Buzzjack would've preferred that too as 'Leave A Light On' got a better -0.77 average vote last year. It's worth noting that 'Leave A Light On' is still easily his biggest hit outside of the UK and Ireland.

I'm disappointed to see 'Beautiful People' this low as it's my favourite Ed Sheeran song since the 'Bloodstream' remix (possibly bar 'Castle On The Hill' which has suddenly grown on me after 3 years). It did almost dodge #10, at least - the week it made it was just on the unlucky side of a tie with MIST's 'So High'. Coincidentally, someone told me they assumed Joel Corry was a James Arthur type based on the name and no features, and if you saw him among the rest of the artists in this post you'd certainly think the same tongue.gif It's unusual to have a dance song this low, but barely anyone seemed to care for it. Not sure if that's due to any affinity for the Monsta Boy original as I'd never heard of it before.

No shock at my top song being 'Ladbroke Grove' ofc (although I must have given a higher average to 'Circles' right? thinking.gif but that wasn't top 10 for as long). 'Someone You Loved' doesn't really deserve to be last for me as I don't really hate it (although it is my least fave of Lewis' hits), that's just down to it refusing to ever leave! If only 'Dance Monkey' had a couple more 2019 top 10 weeks eh tongue.gif lol at it being either the top or bottom song for 6/7 of the people who voted every week. And snap stats with LewisGT, the taste xx

Wow at the graph of participation, great to see the number of voters this year being consistently higher than it was in 2018! (Well apart from that one week in July tongue.gif)

I think 'I Don't Care' is actually one of Ed's more agreeable songs - it's just that the agreed consensus is that it's extremely lazy and pointless laugh.gif it actually managing to be not only huge but still the biggest hit of the era is still slightly mystifying to me, feels like it should have... done more of a 'Yummy'. Lmao at how much of an outlier Dobbo is in those detailed stats, single-handedly providing 12 of its 13 +5s!!

'Hold Me While You Wait' remains Lewis' best song, a bit of a travesty that it ended up ranking below 'Someone You Loved' here - and over 100 points behind despite having 6 fewer top 10 weeks?? sad.gif 'Beautiful People' is good too and I have a small soft spot for 'Just You And I' although it's probably still heavily in the negatives in my voting stats for the year.

My dislike for Joel Corry is definitely in large part because I love the Monsta Boy original - it hurt my soul to see a garage classic reworked into something so painfully basic and rewarded so heavily.

^ You gave both 'Circles' and 'Cross Me' 46 points over 10 weeks, so they both have a slightly higher average for you. ('everything i wanted', 'HIGHEST IN THE ROOM' and four 1-week-charting +5s are even higher.) You managing to give 'Dance Monkey' 100% -5s across 13 weeks is honestly impressive tongue.gif No one else in 2019 did that (Mack. also has a -5 average for 'Dance Monkey' but with only 11 weeks voted, and likewise brokenrecords for 11 weeks of 'Just You And I'.)

I feel bad having 'Hold Me While You Wait' as my lowest because it's grown on me since tongue.gif I've realised through this that there aren't any long-running 2019 top 10 hits I especially dislike, which is nice compared to 2018's several horrors.

Oh I'm surprised at 'Cross Me' being on par with 'Ladbroke Grove'/'Circles' (which are easily my 2 favourite top 10 hits of the year), must have been less competition over its run I guess! Those two should really have +5 averages from me if I always voted on how much I like the songs overall (unless they had any weeks that they were both top 10, I forget) but I do try to give slightly more weight to more recent songs (i.e. songs currently in my personal chart) over those that have been hanging around for a while. 'Ladbroke Grove' managed to average so highly for me even though the vast majority (if not all?) of its top 10 run came after it had been and gone from my chart though!

I did come relatively close to boosting Tones to the dizzy heights of -4 in the week of LadBaby but ultimately couldn't quite bring myself to...

Purring at these in-depth stats *_* brilliant work again I must say, Rush. Talk about THE perfect host for this job.

Absolutely lawling at that first set of results. I feel last year more than ever before my preferences were completely unaligned with the Buzzjack masses but to actually have my #1 song according to this metric finishing plum last is so unsurprisingly hilarious laugh.gif At last Riser chipped in with a sole +5!

Genuinely think a good majority of the bottom half I'll probably be the #1 fan of, definitely remember giving +5s to a lot of the unpopular one-weekers anyway.

Not a big fan of the rest of that bottom bracket but no way should Sorry be down there. One of the best dance hits of last year.

Ooh yay at this back, the beautiful presentation and stats wub.gif now annoyed to find I actually missed one of these over the year x

Not surprising to see all of those low down I suppose, now all are deserving though. I Don't Care has always seemed inoffensive at worst to me and Someone You Loved is brilliant! Longevity definitely working against that one.

Great to see this back this year!
No real surprises in that bottom 6. I missed slightly more weeks than I thought - if I'd voted every time I could have given Someone You Loved +102 points, but its scores held up reasonably well here considering how long it stuck around for - if anything, Hold Me While You Wait took the brunt.

It's been a great run considering that the only reason I became the host was because I offered to fill in for Dexton, possibly because shared Australian timezones meant I saw his post first tongue.gif Thanks everyone cool2.gif

And now it's time for the hip hop songs to begin tongue.gif (with a nice black and blue theme in the artwork)

'Take Me Back To London' is most notable to me for its absurd 3-x-x-14-10-11-1-1-1-1-1-13 official chart run; imagine stepping out of a time machine and trying to make sense of that. It started off better than 'I Don't Care' here but ended up becoming a #10 fixture anyway, and would've definitely placed below 'Beautiful People' if it had lasted an extra week. 'Take Me Back To London' and 'I Don't Care' are the only 2019 UK #1s that spent multiple weeks at #10 here ('Beautiful People', 'Someone You Loved' and LadBaby spent one week each).

Like 'Take Me Back To London', 'So High' only managed to get a single +5 across 7 weeks. They also both placed in people's top 3s only 8-9% of the time, the worst of any multi-week-charting songs in the list that don't involve Chris Brown. The other 'You're Makin' Me High'-sampling top 10 hit, Secondcity's 'I Wanna Feel', got 12 +5s in only 3 weeks back in 2014, so it's officially proven more popular. 'So High' then got hit so hard by ACR that it only ever spent one week between #12 and #40.

Though released in 2018, 'Wow.' was late enough in the year that it gets to entirely impact in 2019, and is by far the lowest of his 4 entries, understandably as I'd be surprised if it's anyone's favourite Post Malone song. It's easy to forget that Dave's 'Location' only debuted at #11, behind 'Disaster' and 'Streatham', as those both left the top 10 fast while 'Location' kept persisting... against my will, as it has to be the least interesting big 2019 hip hop hit to me; I wish 'Professor X' had been the top 10 hit instead. 'Location' might be his biggest hit in the real world now but 'Funky Friday' did considerably better on the reshuffle chart last year, with a -0.42 average vote and even a #3 peak once.

And then there's 'No Guidance' magic.gif Chris Brown was already a frequent #10 magnet early in the decade, and collective annoyance at him returning to the top 10 for the first time in years (outside of features) can only have exemplified that, but it's still impressive just how low its scores got. It was #10 by miles all 3 times, with the worst score of the last 2 years when it got -99 points in its 2nd week. It never got a single vote above +2, and 40% of all its votes were -5s. Only a certain Alexa John Legend prevents it from having the worst overall average vote in 2019 (the next worst is far ahead at -2.73). I found it average at first but I really like it now ph34r.gif

I guess I'll be seeing my name pop up as among the biggest fans for a lot of the rap songs, unsurprisingly tongue.gif there's 3 of them already. My average of just over +2 per week for 'Take Me Back To London' making me its second biggest fan though laugh.gif it's far from the best either artist can do but yeah, better than it's given credit for in Reshuffle as per with Ed.

'Location' is a good song but I really wish it wasn't Dave's biggest hit as it's one of his most shallow releases. 'Wow.'... yeah it isn't likely to be anyone's fave Post Malone song indeed, and it wore off on me relatively quickly after stanning it for a couple of weeks, but it is still pretty enjoyable now.

Only 5% positive votes for 'No Guidance' over 3 weeks and only one person giving it net positive points *_* very much deserved low position for that, it's not so much a really awful song as it is just an aggravatingly bland one that really did not need to be inexplicably Chris Brown's biggest hit for years. If we have to keep giving the guy hits could they at least be more interesting songs? (The follow-up single 'Heat' was a bit better though I'm not going to complain that it didn't blow up in the same way x)

Ok but the more charts with 'Heat' (feat. Gunna) and 'Hot' (feat. Gunna) simultaneously charting, the better tongue.gif

(Very surprised to find that 'Heat' somehow never made the US Spotify top 200, despite being a #36 Billboard hit)

Very mixed bag there. I'd put Wow as one of my personal faves from Posty. TMBTL was decent but could give or take it, love that chart run tho. So High was such a bland song.

I like No Guidance much more now than when it was in Reshuffle so feel like my name should be among the fans. Conversely, I absolutely cannot stand Location anymore, but it's peak hatred came long after it had departed the top 10 yet stuck around the lower positions like a virus.

Haha I noticed that as well. Gunna's verses are pretty much interchangeable on any song he features on anyway so it's on brand for him to appear on songs with basically the same title. ('Hot' >>>>> 'Heat' tho)

And oh really?? That's shocking indeed, it even got as high as #196 on UK Spotify! laugh.gif (I do recall that the album tracks from 'Indigo' made almost zero impact on the album release though).

Loving these stats!!!

Disappointing to see Someone You Loved (the song I ended up giving the most points to this year from the OP!) and Hold Me While You Wait finishing so low here, otherwise decent results so far. And yay at being one of the seven to vote every week!

Thanks for compiling this Rush and giving such in-depth and detailed stats. Really remarkable work!

Suprised that Ladbroke Grove is the song I gave the most points to as I would rank it as my least favourite AJ Tracey track that has reached the top 40. Just shows what a long top 10 run can do I guess.

I find No Guidance one of the most average, ok-ish songs of all-time so lol at my average for it being 0. laugh.gif

It wouldn't be a Buzzjack list without Maroon 5 somewhere near the bottom tongue.gif Apart from 'Moves Like Jagger' (a multi-week reshuffle #1), all their top 10 hits in reshuffle history have ranked #10 at least once. I feel like 'Memories' actually did well for their standards; 'Girls Like You' in 2018 spent half its run at #10 and had a worse average of -1.75. ('Memories' is tied with 'No Guidance' but gets ranked higher due to having more +5s.)

Another Ed Sheeran song falls, with 'South Of The Border' having the best average of his 4 so far, so it'd probably be the highest even if their chart run lengths were even. Due to the 3-track rule preventing 'Remember The Name' and 'Antisocial', and I believe 'Feels' but only due to other songs being on ACR, from being top 10 hits, there's only one remaining song from the album, but it'll be a while before we reach it.

One of my favourite top 10 hits of 2019, 'Keisha & Becky' sits alongside 'No Guidance' as the only multi-week-charting songs to never rank above #10, but it did improve week by week, and landed only 1 point behind 'Location' on its final week. I want to say it was saved by its 3 main fans, but it's far enough ahead of #94 that they (we) didn't really make a difference (though without them its average would slip from -2.25 to -3.00). It first debuted at #19 and started falling like every other short-lived UK rap top 20 hit (feat. D-Block Europe), but the release of the remix (featuring Aitch, JAY1, Sav'O and Swarmz) catapulted it into the top 10, and not in the 'Take Me Back To London' sense of a remix providing some extra padding to the original; the 'Keisha & Becky' remix was far ahead on Spotify from the moment it came out, and remains on the chart while the original has long since disappeared. Unofficially, it should probably count as Aitch's first top 10 hit. Along Russ splash's journey of trying to figure out how to best disambiguate himself from the other Russ, he's gone from being 'Russ splash' on Spotify and 'RUSS (SPLASH)' on iTunes when 'Gun Lean' was out, to 'Russ splash' on both at the time of 'Keisha & Becky' (but just 'Russ' on YouTube and the single covers), to now becoming... 'RussMB'. I don't believe he's at any point considered changing the spelling to 'Rush' to match its pronunciation, presumably because I have exclusive rights on that.

Edit: no, apparently he once did *.*

Lewis Capaldi loses the 3rd of his long runners with his 2017 debut single 'Bruises', which had already built up sizeable Spotify plays before he had any chart hits and further spent many weeks in the top 100 earlier in 2019, but surprisingly there was still enough of an untapped audience for it to reach the top 10, without any relevant new versions. It probably helped that it was getting an international push on Today's Top Hits at the time, unlike 'Hold Me While You Wait' which never did. With a much shorter top 10 run, it probably would've outranked his first 2 appearances no matter what, but average-wise it lands between the 2.

And the one repeat artist in this batch is Tion Wayne, who I've barely ever heard of on his own, but helped both NSG and Russ splash get their biggest hits thinking.gif Maybe D-Block Europe should call him up to get themselves a top 10 hit. 'Options' looked like it might be an unlucky top 10 miss at first with a 12-11-11-12 run but eventually broke through, but not quite with the same fanfare as that time 'Elastic Heart' finally made the top 10.

I like all of those bar Bruises although was a little bit harder on Keisha & Becky as it was such a drop off from the incredible Gun Lean. I expect I wasn't too far behind the 3 big fans!
