Brazil have this in the bag, I'm afraid. I'll be interested to see how Qatar fare as this could be a nice preview of how they'll do as hosts in 2022, showing people how they stand up to real competition.

I think it looks like a clear Brazil vs. Argentina and Colombia vs. Uruguay semifinals to me, though any South American team can beat one of their rivals on any given day. If I were Qatar or Japan, I wouldn't be ashamed with their performances.

Yeah, there are certainly some results I expect but they're definitely not foregone conclusions!

Brazil forwards Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino both scored as they beat arch-rivals Argentina 2-0 in the Copa America semi-final.

Jesus opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he sidefooted in a low cross from Firmino.

Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi both struck the woodwork for Argentina, who have not beaten Brazil in a major competitive fixture since 2005.

Brazil vs. Peru in the final. Brazil beat Peru 5-0 in the group stages, getting revenge for Peru's 1-0 upset in 2016 Centenario edition of the tournament which knocked Brazil out at the group stages that year. Peru is a MUCH better side than being the losing end of a 5-0 thrashing, hopefully they'll step up.

South American football bosses say accusations questioning the integrity of the Copa America are "unfounded" and "represent a lack of respect".

Argentina captain Lionel Messi claimed the competition was "corrupt" after he was sent off in their 2-1 third-place play-off win over Chile on Saturday.

"The cup's fixed for Brazil," he added.

A ninth Copa America for Brazil with a 3-1 win over Peru. Jesus scores and then gets himself send off.

Brazil win 3-1 despite Gabriel Jesus being sent off after 70 minutes when the score was still 2-1. Everton scored the first Brazil goal while their third was scored by an Everton player,Richarlison. That might possibly be the first time a player and his club have scored in the same match.

I really do like Messi, but his comments are such an arse. Moans it's all set up for Brazil, but guessing he doesn't have the same attitude when his Barcelona side get the rub of the green constantly.
