This was not a thread I was expecting to see anytime soon! I loved Since I Left You, was my soundtrack of 2000 in many ways... am ridiculously excited for this and just hope they've not lost their spark in the 16 year wait!

First single appears to be 'Frankie Sinatra'. Just listening now and it seems to be something that conceivably could have been on their debut, certainly a continuation of the cut & paste approach.

I can't believe they are back, I always thought they'd dropped their perfect 2 singles and album and would have forever called it a day.

Sounds ok, could do without The Sound of Music sample but the electro swing beat is addictive.

Frontier Psychiatrist is still one of the best songs of the 00s for me. Loved them!

They released at least 3 singles, I have 'Electricity' on CD single. Not that this is particularly important but I'm always surprised when you get a stat wrong! biggrin.gif

It's so crazy to think that in a month's time, both Detox Compton and now the elusive 2nd Avalanches album will actually exist. Now it's Tool's turn to be the butt of those jokes laugh.gif

Their first album is an all time favourite for me and I've got high hopes for this too.

Looking forward to this. I didn't actually like the album that much, the two singles (nobody counts Electricity!) aside...it was good but a little overwhelming. But their DJ sets were always eclectic affairs.

Frankie Sinatra is a lot of fun biggrin.gif

Also reminds me of Wilmot by the Sabres of Paradise along with Cypress Hill.

This is out then and I've had a listen through today. It's very similar in sound and texture to Since I Left You but my initial feeling is that it all feels a little more forced than their debut did. It's still an enjoyable and fun listen though and more than decent enough to warrant a few more plays over the Summer.

Wasn't hugely taken by the album as a whole, it's a bit bloated. That said, I like the lead single and enjoyed about 6-8 of the other tracks so I'll chop it down and make my own edit.

Right now, I'm wondering what would have happened if The Avalanches released this album 3 years after Since I Left You instead of 16
