 Hii all and welcome to a new EVENT occuring in the Cinema Forum: The Great Cinema Chain. The concept is simple and it's a great way to discover new films, or research films you already know to help keep the chain going. So either way it's a cinema lover's DREAM. I will kick start the thread by posting a film, and the aim is to continue the chain by replying to that film with a film of your choice that in some way links to it. The links could be very obvious or very obscure. Some examples could be:
Try and make interesting links and present us with interesting films as well as big obvious ones. Also COMMENT on the films that appear and that you post to make the thread an interesting read. If the person previous to you posts a very obscure film, do a bit of research on it and see if you can still make a link. If not wait and someone else should be able to do it. In your post you MUST explain the link that you have made and if possible give a little more information if it's an obscure film. The key rule is, we must not let the chain die  Got it? Good. |

I'll kickstart it with this absolute classic from 1975 and one of cinema's true greats.
Starring Jack Nicholson and set in a mental institution it's a must see to believe <3 POWERHOUSE performances all round and so funny/touching. |

The Shining was based on a Stephen King novel so let's have a film based on a short story by the same author, Stand By Me

Don't know that one so struggled a little, but i did find that the score was composed by Jack Nitzsche who funnily enough also worked on 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest' taking us full cycle
 But along with that, he offered some original scores for 'The Exorcist', so let's go with that just because... |

Waterfront is a song by Simple Minds. Forget About Me was a film about two squaddies trying to get to a Simple Minds gig in Budapest. I can't find a trailer but here is the IMDB entry to prove I'm not making it up. I really did see this film.

My favourite Hungarian actor is Eva Gabor (sister of Zsa Zsa, star of TV's Green Acres). She was in one of the last great MGM musicals..
