ARMTV, the Armenian national broadcaster, has confirmed to ESCToday that the ARMTV Eurovision team is currently on working on its 2015 Eurovision project.

Ms. Gohar Gasparyan - the Armenian Head of Delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest - told ESCToday.com: "We are preparing a big surprise for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest." More details will be released in due course.

The Armenian national broadcaster will be disclosing its plans for Vienna in the coming days.

Is Sirusho finally returning or could it be BJSC star Lilit Hovhannisyan? ohmy.gif

QUOTE
Armenian broadcaster ARMTV has revealed to escXtra.com that they will select their entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 internally.
Armenia’s Head of Press, Ruzanna Pilosyan, has also revealed that the name of the Armenian representative will be revealed in February. It’s the second year in a row that Armenia opts for a fully interal selection, after selecting Aram MP3 and his song Not Alone internally as well.
The rumour mill surrounding the Armenian representative is, as always, in full swing again. ARMTV will confirm their name in February, but many names have already been mentioned. The name rumoured the most at the moment is Hayk Kasparov.

Entry announcement tomorrow according to Eurovision.tv calendar!

Posted by: Ryan. 11th February 2015, 03:20 AM

Rumours are that the Armenian head of delegation (Gohar Gasparyan who has become iconic amongst many Eurovision fans!) has put together a supergroup of "Armenian singers from across the world" including singers who have Armenian roots and are connected with other countries including the United States, Greece, Ethopia, France. If this is the case, it is rumoured the five members of this supergroup could be Tamar Kaprelian, Athena Manoukian (her song 'XO' is amazing), Inga Arshakyan (of 2009 'Jan Jan' fame), Vahe Tilbian and Essaï.

A further rumour is that, if this supergroup turns out to be true, the song will be in English and composed by Armen Martirosyan who composed previous Armenian entries 'Without Your Love' and 'Apricot Stone'.

This has been a rumour for a month or so now over on ESC Forum and I didn't believe it until just now when Tamar has quoted a tweet about tomorrow's announcement that hinted she could be involved - so maybe this project could be true! Gohar did say she had a big surprise planned! laugh.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 11th February 2015, 03:23 PM

Looks like OGAE Armenia may have confirmed the supergroup!

Posted by: AdamAloud 11th February 2015, 03:24 PM

This will either be amazing or it will be Switzerland 2006. There is no middle ground.

Posted by: Ryan. 11th February 2015, 05:03 PM

It's true! Well the supergroup part is, the members aren't confirmed yet. The group is called Genealogy with the song Don't Deny!

I'm slightly hypnotized by central girl in that picture and her eyebrows!

Posted by: J▲hq 11th February 2015, 05:07 PM

The concept sounds very interesting and 'Apricot Stone' is the best thing they've sent so I really hope this delivers!

Thats not just any woman, its Inga heart.gif (As in Inga and Anush)

Posted by: Ryan. 14th February 2015, 10:46 PM

Reports from various website suggesting that Azerbaijan are not happy with this "politics song" and are threatening to complain or even withdraw.

Posted by: J▲hq 14th February 2015, 11:30 PM

Well we're not exactly going to stand in their way!

Posted by: hezza555 17th February 2015, 02:47 PM

I liked emmy in 2011

Posted by: J▲hq 12th March 2015, 05:36 PM

Feels a bit messy towards the end but I think that made me enjoy it more. laugh.gif Quite like it for what it is.

Posted by: LexC 12th March 2015, 05:42 PM

I am not in possession of the words to describe how dreadful that was.

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 06:13 PM

I'm actually shocked in a positive way. I was expecting it to be a bit of a disaster, but in fact I really enjoyed it! Essai's diction in the first verse wasn't a great start, but Inga's first chorus was fantastic and from then on I really enjoyed it. Loving Mary-Jean's operatic vocals too towards the end, very dramatic.

I'm glad it isn't political either (as far as I can hear), really interesting entry and much better than I was expecting!

Here's a full overview of the members by the way:

It is Switzerland 2006.

Posted by: LexC 12th March 2015, 06:15 PM

This is the worst Armenian entry ever and that is quite an achievement!

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 06:18 PM

No way is this the worst Armenian entry ever! I'd rank Hayko, Dorians and possibly Emmy below this, I am quite the fan of Genealogy!

Posted by: Conderella 12th March 2015, 06:26 PM

Emmy was by far the worst entry of theirs actually. Dorians at least didnt pretend they were good smile.gif

This could be good if there was any chemistry between the guys. So far there is pretty much nothing. That is why its really risky getting several solo artists and putting them in one band.

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 06:27 PM

On third listen, this is quite amazing! All the different voices make it so interesting to listen to, and I love the chorus so much wub.gif

It could be quite a mess on stage in Vienna, but if they can pull it off and all sing in tune together it will do very well I think!

Posted by: LexC 12th March 2015, 06:33 PM

Lonely Planet and Boom Boom are twice the song this will ever be.

Posted by: AdamAloud 12th March 2015, 06:34 PM

Sirusho >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Posted by: Jack89 12th March 2015, 06:38 PM

Ok so that was a hot mess. They might not even make the final with that as boom boom Chaka Chaka was better than this! This is obviously a political song without actually stating what they are soft implying. Nice music video though. I do like when contestants are given a nice music video are styled well!

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 06:39 PM

The music video and styling are really great, if they can somehow recreate that "wall" on stage it could look very good!

Posted by: Jack89 12th March 2015, 06:39 PM

Oh and yes, please can we have the perfect Sirusho back rather than one of those creepy out of tune twins.

It seems like the Caucasus regions always style and bring good music videos. I do think people underestimate styling at the event - in my head if Slovenia didn't wear that awful dress last year she would have done loads better ha

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 06:48 PM

Compared to what they wore at the Slovenian national final, the Copenhagen styling was incredible! laugh.gif

Add the hideous "Jan Jan" to that list and I'm in agreement.

Posted by: Ryan. 12th March 2015, 09:01 PM

Up until a few months ago I thought 'Jan Jan' was pretty awful too, but it suddenly clicked for me (I think I stumbled upon the music video for the first time) and now I think it's fantastic! Although I do love Inga's voice so much in 'Don't Deny', she has a great tone that wasn't utilised so much in 2009.

Posted by: Lukuzz 12th March 2015, 09:42 PM

it's certainly very interesting, one of them songs that's it's so bad it's kinda good. I sort of like it even though so much of it is a mess. What is wrong with me laugh.gif

Posted by: Iz~ 13th March 2015, 11:31 PM

WHAT IS THIS MESS I DON'T...

I think I love it.

Posted by: _Nīck_ 15th March 2015, 09:54 PM

Ok on reflection this is amazing - also it's gotta be an Armenian genocide ref given that it's the 100th anniversary and a band made up of Armenian diaspora and also the fact it's called 'Don't Deny'?! That said could be wrong as the lyrics literally mean nothing.

QUOTE
In what organisers describe as a “take away any suggestion of political intent behind the song”, Armenia’s entry to Eurovision 2015 has been retitled ‘Face the shadow’. The lyrics of the song, which formerly went by the subtle title ‘Don’t deny’, remain unchanged.

In the drawn out period of announcements regarding the Genealogy project, the Armenian delegation made reference to the centenary of massacres of 1915. The song’s video, which remains unchanged, uses imagery designed to reflect upon this era. However, the official statement released suggests that ARMTV requested the song name change “to strengthen the concept of an anthem of peace, love and unity”, Gohar Gasparyan, Head of Delegation, was quoted as saying.

Gohar living up to her iconic status yet again causing this further drama! wub.gif

Posted by: Jack89 17th March 2015, 05:44 PM

Face the shadow is even more of a political name IMO it's like referring 'face up you killed us'? Ha

Posted by: Ryan. 17th May 2015, 12:49 AM

Genealogy have released a new song, and it's an ethno-pop dance stomper! ohmy.gif And it features a little bit of politics too with a We Are The Mountains (of Sirusho's 2009 clipboard fame) top being worn by Mary-Jean! kink.gif

Is it too late for them to change their entry?
