BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Nuh Ready Nuh Ready • Standalone Release

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 Feb 4 2018, 08:41 PM

The track is registered on PPL UK site. It's called "Nuh Ready Nuh Ready" and it features PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Posted by: danG Feb 4 2018, 08:47 PM

not a fan of that song title and I'm not overly keen on PARTYNEXTDOOR either. still hyped to hear this though.

Posted by: cqmerqn Feb 4 2018, 08:49 PM

Wish he’d go back to gettingnames like Ellie etc... pop/dance

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo Feb 4 2018, 08:52 PM

That title... rotf.gif

Probably the weirdest song title since Disco Tits. Anyway, am I the only one whi thinks he's going for the hip-hop sound? The title screams that sort of genre to me.

Posted by: danG Feb 4 2018, 09:06 PM

Are we sure this isn't the start of Funk Wav 2 anyway? Cause judging by the featured artist it's not going to be a club banger.

I just hope it's not trap or future bass.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo Feb 4 2018, 09:09 PM

He says he's moved on from Funk Wav sound so I'm sure it'll sound different.

i wish this too but unfortunately people like PND and Migos/Future etc are bigger and more popular at the moment so i guess he's always gonna go for what's 'in' sad.gif

(i'd love a Frank or Tyler or Weeknd collab tho, mind u)

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 Feb 4 2018, 09:16 PM

Maybe he will go urban this time? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Posted by: lewistgreen Feb 4 2018, 09:22 PM

Oh this is going to be urban drivel isn't it.

Posted by: cqmerqn Feb 4 2018, 09:25 PM

I’ve always wanted Calvin ft. Ariana

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 4 2018, 09:28 PM

This sounds very exciting! I thought he was veering away from the sound of his last era, so this is a pleasant surprise. I reckon it'll be 'Afrobbean' sounding considering its success in the UK at the moment and previous PARTYNEXTDOOR songs like 'Run Up' and 'Not Nice'.

And to those who want 'names'... he worked with so many last era: Frank Ocean, Migos, Katy Perry, Pharrell, Nicki Minaj to name but a few.

Posted by: CodyOfTheWoods Feb 4 2018, 09:29 PM

Part of me wants to be optimistic but another part of me wants to be a hater

I just can’t decide which

Posted by: Bjork Feb 4 2018, 10:02 PM

hope it's not a drake-ish sounding mess :/

Posted by: gavindeejay Feb 4 2018, 10:13 PM

I hope it’s a throwback to the dance bangers he used to do!

Posted by: BridgeCow Feb 4 2018, 10:16 PM

Ermm that title lmao laugh.gif kinda hoping he doesn't go urban but it is Calvin so I'm sure it'll be amazing

Run Up was one of my songs of last year, so excited by this!

EDM trap done well (ie dancey enough and not too poppy) would be OK though imo!

Can't see it though, EDM trap has kind of had its day.

Most probably will be, I do actually like Run Up now despite not liking it much at the time.

Posted by: jase. Feb 4 2018, 11:43 PM

The song title actually offends me it's so atrocious rotf.gif

"Heatstroke"??

I think Calvin Harris is slowly becoming nu David Guetta aka his glory days are way over past.

Don’t you dare compare Calvin to the atrocious sellout that is David Guetta

Posted by: cqmerqn Feb 5 2018, 12:36 PM

Calvin actually creates his music... unlike David

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 5 2018, 12:50 PM

Hyped for this!

This! Calvin is so much better than David and his ghost producers right now, even if he's past his commercial peak he's still making top quality tunes.

Posted by: Midge Feb 5 2018, 02:10 PM

Calvin past his glory days?? "Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1" is his most musically accomplished album to date! >.<

Posted by: Bjork Feb 5 2018, 02:30 PM

lol all calvin albums are terrible, he shouldn't even bother and only release singles

Posted by: Klumzee Feb 5 2018, 02:34 PM

Hyped! Is this 100% not from Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2? The PARTYNEXTDOOR feature could fit in with the first part I reckon.

I think Funk Wav was the first Calvin Harris album I enjoyed listening to all the way through. I LOVE all of his previous stuff but he’s not an album artist like you say (although I wouldn’t say terrible tongue.gif) and 18 Months & Motion we’re basically just collections of amazing singles (18 Months especially) laugh.gif I’m excited for this, whether it turns out to be 2016 or 2017 style Calvin Harris or if he’s found another unique sound to adopt for 2018 dance.gif

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 Feb 5 2018, 08:42 PM

Confirmed.

I find myself agreeing with you a lot.

Posted by: Cremey Feb 5 2018, 11:32 PM

Can’t wait for this. Anything with PARTYNEXTDOOR is absolute fire and it’ll be an interesting collaboration, great to see him working with more urban artists again. Also, the artwork is heart.gif

Posted by: Steve201 Feb 7 2018, 07:53 PM

From Calvins twitter over the past few months I think it's clear he will return to the Funk Vol2 later in his career. Hope this is a commercial banger!

Posted by: danG Feb 8 2018, 11:10 AM

When's it coming then?

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 Feb 8 2018, 11:36 AM

I guess it's going to be a Beats 1 premiere, hence the reason why it didn't come out at midnight EST as expected. If this doesn't happen, I really don't know when it will be out.

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 8 2018, 01:54 PM

PARTYNEXTDOOR performed it in Brixton, London last night. A few videos have been tweeted: https://twitter.com/zakgreenwood/status/961404225237463040

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 8 2018, 04:26 PM

The snippet I've heard sounds very similar to 'Run Up'!

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 Feb 8 2018, 06:24 PM

Premieres on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show.

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 8 2018, 06:56 PM

OUT NOW!

Posted by: BridgeCow Feb 8 2018, 07:04 PM

F*CKING AMAZING OMG SO DIFFERENT TO WHAT I WAS EXPECTING WHAT

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 8 2018, 07:07 PM

In love with this track! Different and amazing!

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo Feb 8 2018, 07:07 PM

It's err.... Nuh good. Gonna need a few more plays.

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 8 2018, 07:19 PM

Video out too https://t.co/S0uYj22hbK

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 8 2018, 07:27 PM

I love it, can see quite a lot of people hating it. laugh.gif

No idea how it'll do commercially.

Posted by: BridgeCow Feb 8 2018, 07:29 PM

I can see like everyone shitting all over this too lmao :’(
Honestly have no idea if this could be a hit, part of me feels like it sounds huge but then i also feel like it completely doesn’t sound commercial at all

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 8 2018, 07:31 PM

There’s an interview on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe. Calvin says “I’m gonna release more and also I’m taking it one song at a time. The songs are all gonna be based in dance music because I love it again.”

Posted by: cqmerqn Feb 8 2018, 07:31 PM

Posted by: lewistgreen Feb 8 2018, 08:07 PM

What the f*** is this shit? It's awful

Posted by: photografdemon Feb 8 2018, 08:29 PM

I feel like it'll took ages to get used to new Calvin's track cuz I'm really nuh ready for dis.
Funny 'bouncy' elements make it kinda radio friendly imo but it would be awesome if only these elements were enough.

Posted by: ElectroTroye Feb 8 2018, 08:41 PM

I like it - its different

Posted by: Midge Feb 8 2018, 08:45 PM

This feels very 2000

Posted by: BridgeCow Feb 8 2018, 08:45 PM

You’ve really gotta give it to Calvin for coming out with such different stuff though

Posted by: Midge Feb 8 2018, 08:53 PM

Oh definitely. He's always trying to stay one step ahead. His material last year really stood out from the mainstream crowd - and so does this. Not sure if I am particularly big on it after 1 listen, but then I wasn't about "Slide" for a few weeks.

Posted by: danG Feb 8 2018, 08:58 PM

sounding quite good on first listen. liking the production and that Calvin seems to be switching it up again (and phew that it's not trap), though I wish it had a stronger hook and a more punchy dance beat. doesn't help that PARTYNEXTDOOR isn't a strong vocalist and as no song is going to change that. can't see it being a big hit nor get up with his very best anyway, though I suppose if Calvin is supposedly releasing a load of songs not all of them are going to be hit-ready.

Posted by: Rooney Feb 8 2018, 09:34 PM

The beat is awesome! I love it.

Look people expecting the next massive commercial hit.. I am not sure it will ever happen from everything I have read. It seems he is focused on making music he likes with big features. His name will always sell, be interesting to see how this does.

Posted by: JosephSprayberry Feb 8 2018, 09:54 PM

This is absolutely terrible, I didn't mind most of the Funk Wav stuff but this is tuneless. His worst in a long time sad.gif

Feels wasn't that long ago, I doubt he's actually giving up on making commercial hits..

Yeah I feel like he’ll still have a hit now and there, but I don’t think every single is gonna be a hit sort of single now tbh, like especially this, Calvin knows how to make a hit and this really isn’t one, as much as I’m loving it

Posted by: Klumzee Feb 8 2018, 10:14 PM

It's decent! Credit to Calvin for keeping things different and trying something different from the rest of the mainstream - think this could get forgotten about both in the public eye as well as people who keep up with Calvin. It's just not got any defining features - but still a pleasant listen.

Posted by: HarryEzra Feb 8 2018, 10:17 PM

Quite liking this reminds me a bit of Run Up

Not saying he has totally given up on them, but sounds like he's actually making music he likes rather than music that is specifically designed to be formulaic and appeal to the Spotify crowd. His songs will always get playlisted because he has stature and money behind him.

Posted by: mdh Feb 8 2018, 11:25 PM

i really really like this 🔥

Posted by: The Snake Feb 9 2018, 01:07 AM

Decent enough but not great imo sad.gif needs a more complex melody of foreground synths to it imo apart from just three notes every so often.

Posted by: Dexton Feb 9 2018, 01:23 AM

What genre is this beauty

Posted by: Addyland Feb 9 2018, 02:57 AM

Calvin stopped being hot with me since My Way tbh...everything after that was hit and miss...more miss and this isn't changing that.

Posted by: slowdown73 Feb 9 2018, 10:08 AM

Absolute rubbish. What on earth is he doing? I haven’t liked anything since he changed his style. Total garbage!

Posted by: Klaus Feb 9 2018, 01:41 PM

In a chat with Annie Mac, Calvin basically states even he was unexcited and bored by My Way which is why he did Funk Wav Bounces to do something that wasn’t commercial.

I’m glad he also realises My Way is dull laugh.gif

Posted by: Inna Selez Feb 9 2018, 05:41 PM

The clip brings me back to the 90's era! rolleyes.gif

Posted by: mdh Feb 9 2018, 05:53 PM

yeah this is totally great - sooo infectious!

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 9 2018, 05:57 PM

It's a very trippy video isn't it? laugh.gif

Think this will be more of a university club and house party song than a chart hit personally, but it's pretty great.

“My Way” always felt soul-less, so I’m glad to hear that he wasn’t actually that excited by it either. Came across as a dig at Taylor following their break-up anyway, which I never liked.

Here for “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” though, getting garage and dancehall vibes from it; sounds fresh!

Posted by: Juliano Feb 9 2018, 07:43 PM

Not my sort of track, it irritated me a little on first listen, we will see if it grows on me?

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 9 2018, 09:25 PM

I got 2-Step Garage vibes from this too, refreshing to hear such an established artist making fresh music like this!

Posted by: The Snake Feb 9 2018, 11:30 PM

Starting to like this song now!

It's progressive dance which I like and the production sounds quite atmospheric!

Posted by: jase. Feb 10 2018, 11:59 PM

It's decent! Far better than the abomination that is 'Slide' so that's something I guess

Posted by: BridgeCow Feb 11 2018, 06:27 PM

Wow, he's said in an interview with Zane Lowe that Virtual Self - Ghost Voices has caused him to fall in love with dance music again and that he's gonna release more dance-based music this year!

https://itunes.apple.com/us/post/sa.785bc720-0cfd-11e8-a4cb-64d1ccb4754c

Posted by: Joe. Feb 12 2018, 09:15 AM

I actually really like the production. But the melody/vocals are all over the place and make it unlistenable.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Feb 12 2018, 09:44 AM

I don't know what he's doing, to be honest with you.

Posted by: Bjork Feb 12 2018, 10:48 AM

I kinda understand why calvin would be tired of his old style, his last proper calvin-esque singles (This is what you came for, My Way) were really lazy rehashed versions of old songs
and it's good that he's opened to work with others, that's always good

Problem is when you work with others and the end product sounds zero like you, all songs from the Funky Wav era sound 100% Pharrell o& Calvin, and now it's the same, the song is 100% Partynextdoor

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Feb 17 2018, 05:26 PM

This is really growing on me, it's impossible to sit still when it's playing. laugh.gif

Posted by: Midge Mar 15 2018, 09:50 AM

Getting into this one just isn’t happening. I think it’d suit fine as an album track but as a single it is really quite unremarkable. However I am totally all for Calvin experimenting and setting the trends. This is what we need from him.
