Dexter is an American television drama series that airs on the pay-TV channel Showtime. It debuted on October 1, 2006, and filming has begun on the fifth season, due to begin airing on September 26, 2010. Set in Miami, the show centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department, who moonlights as a serial killer. The show's first season was loosely based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the first of his series of Dexter novels. Subsequent seasons have evolved independently of Lindsay's works. It was adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos, Jr., who wrote the pilot episode.

Season 5
Showtime has renewed Dexter for a fifth season, which is set to premiere September 26, 2010. Julia Stiles will guest star in 10 episodes as a new woman in Dexter's life.Shawn Hatosy will appear in a multiple episode arc as a "bad guy".Maria Doyle Kennedy will also join the cast of Dexter in Season 5 as an Irish nanny. April Lee Hernandez has been called for a recurring role as a police officer. Jonny Lee Miller has been added to the cast, and will have something to do with Julia Stiles' character.Also Peter Weller will join the cast and he will be playing "a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation." The actor will appear in eight of the twelve episodes.

Dexter is without a doubt the best US drama series at the moment... Possibly even better than "The Wire", and I dont say that lightly.....

Glad Rita is dead she was a whiny annoying bitch. I was hoping Dex would snap and kill her. And screw ending the show who cares if a serial killer comes to Miami every year, It isa tv show. Dexter is one of the best TV show I can’t wait for the drama between Quinn and dex to unfold.

Got hooked during series 4 (watched bits of previous series), last ep. of season 4 was so tense and dramatic - brilliant!

Anyone else currently following season 5? i thought the first 2 episodes were slow, but the new one was great and based on next weeks preview it looks like its gonna be great until the end of the season.

Just finished watching (8 episodes in 2 days wub.gif I really don't like waiting for a whole week to get a new episode, especially if i had to with season 5). INFUCKINGCREDIBLE. Seriously, better than f***ing Lost.

woah not better than Lost.

but tbh, waaaaaay better than most shows, possibly even second best for me.

I disagree with your rank though, season 4 is the best for sure,

but as you say, they are all amazing.

i just started reading the first book as well, really good.

also season 6 is confirmed


god i love Dexter too much.

Dexter is brilliant! Haven't started watch Season 5 yet but the ending to Season 4 was really good and pretty messed up. Looking forward to getting addicted all over again. smile.gif

watched it yesterday. was good shit, very intrigued by the new bad guys. SNAKES WTF.


in a life where Lost has ended, Dexter is my favourite currently running show <3. hope it's better than last season, i want season 4 standard again.
