Is Dexter worth watching from the beginning if you’ve never watched before? Definitely, Seasons 1-4 are pretty much amazing. Seasons 5-8 have their moments, but it's a bit of a slog at times. If you're not enjoying Season 5, I genuinely wouldn't be against just Youtubing what happens in the later seasons. |

Jesus didn’t realise there were 8 series, must give it a go with the new series out! I do love Michael C Hall from his work on 6 Feet Under!

Seasons 1-4 are incredible and I'd say season 2 and 4 are two of my fave all time series of any show I've watched...and I watch a lot! Watched New Blood last night and I had a huge smile on my face throughout it. Absolutely adored seeing him and Deb back together and I'm looking forward to seeing his relationship with Harrison develop. |

I'm finding this very predictable and not overly interesting to watch. The Deb hallucinations are quite jarring, they should have just kept her character dead and out of this series.
The Harrison age thing is throwing me off as well. |

The Harrison age thing is throwing me off as well. I think Deb is good as Dexter's guardian. I really enjoyed the first episode, was less keen on the second. Whatever happens, it seems like Harrison is going to be central to the main plot. Obviously I have a few theories where it might go based on the big bad.. |

So the finale is proving less devisive than the original one, but seems it's a real love or hate it seeing as Dexter finally dies. Personally, I think that needed to happen. However.. not so sure about a spin-off and a creation of a Dexter Television Universe with Harrison.

Well... it was always either going to end with Dexter in jail or Dexter dead. No other ending really makes sense - because ultimately, Dexter is an animal that was kept in check by following a very rigid code. Personally, I always wanted to see him end up on death row with a trial and a full fall out (they couldn't get Batista at least there in time to confront him?), but at least this is better than him ending up as a lumberjack in the middle of somewhere.
I wouldn't buy into a Harrison spin-off they've been talking about though - the whole point seemed to be that Harrison wasn't like Dexter; he's a messed up kid, sure, but he clearly took no pleasure in killing and being part of dismembering Kurt, even if he thought he deserved it. He clearly cared for Audrey enough to stress that he wanted to say goodbye to her while Dexter just shrugged off potentially having to flee again. |

^Thanks
I liked it that the journey ends for Dexter, and that he dies rather than being sent to prison... but I didn't like it that it was Harrison that had to kill him... he was an already traumatised kid, he was angry rather than having a dark passenger, but sure now he's gonna be more traumatised than ever after killing his father... I much would have preferred a more opened ending or something that didn't involve his son having to kill him |

how do you add the spoiler tags? [*spoiler][/spoiler*] Remove the asterix. You can also just go to Insert Special Item, Insert: SPOILER and then type or copy and paste whatever you want hidden. Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time! Friends isn’t the greatest sitcom of all time! |

Debs would have been the best one, but the writers fudged up and killed her off. It had to be Harrison really, my own gripe is that the last 20 minutes played out really fast. But I did like how Harrison realised Dexter had broken his own code he had explained to Harrison, and Harrison realised Dexter had to be stopped for others to live. The best ending ever suggested is the one the Executive Producer said he wanted to do before he left the show after Season 4. I felt that after they told everyone the ending of Dexter on death row and him hallucinating about all his victims watching, they couldn't really go with that ending, so it had to be that they killed the character off. This is way more complete for me than him living his days as a lumberjack. |

Does anyone know where you can watch it right from the start at season 1? It’s not on Netflix and I’ve searched on demand as I have virgin media and couldn’t find it anywhere without paying a fortune

Can't wait until that contract ends and we get HBOMax in the UK and the licensing for other programmes are shared back out again. |

This is way more complete for me than him living his days as a lumberjack. I think an issue with the originally planned ending is that it's only really satisfying if we see the full fall out - ie have Dexter arrested, go to trial etc and pretty much spend an entire season with this and other people's reactions. It would've been an amazing ending after several seasons of him getting away with it - but it probably really wouldn't have been satisfying for Dexter: New Blood to start off with authorities finding him and putting him in jail. Plus... there's really no other characters left to have that emotional fall out that would be satisfying. So unless they literally had planned for Dexter: NB to go on for several seasons so that we could build up a new set of characters around Dexter I don't think there was another way to go but to kill him off, especially considering the exec producer said that he did this to fix the ending. |
