BuzzJack Music Forum _ R&B and Hip-Hop _ DJ Khaled - Khaled Khaled

Posted by: dan-G Jul 13 2020, 10:19 AM

Ultimate Music are reporting that they’re getting back together for a new single. Not sure why we need a Drake feature when he’s meant to be starting his own album era soon but ok, I just hope it’s better than their previous collabs which I wasn’t so keen on.

Deep joy.

I don't like DJ Khaled. As a producer I think he's alright but his insistence on being in every music video just to stand around awkwardly and pose is really irritating.

Posted by: Bjork Jul 13 2020, 02:11 PM

His contribution is more than that... don't forget him shouting "we the best music... another one... DJ Khaled" at the start of every song biggrin.gif

Posted by: Bré Jul 13 2020, 04:35 PM

He doesn't actually produce most of 'his' songs lol ~ his role is more of a promoter / PR guy than an actual musician.

Posted by: dan-G Jul 17 2020, 07:17 AM

two songs out today. Popstar being the one they seem to be pushing (and it is the better of the two)

Posted by: Bjork Jul 17 2020, 07:45 AM

they're all terrible
rhyming Kevin Coster with lobster biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

another one... Nope... another ZERO biggrin.gif

He sounds like a different person on Greece I had to double check there wasn’t a feature on there laugh.gif . Both songs are bops though .

Posted by: Tombo Jul 19 2020, 12:11 AM

I like them both, especially Popstar.

Posted by: hlavkus Jul 20 2020, 02:34 PM

Unlike some other members here, I don't dislike it by default just because it's Drake (or rap in general) but "Greece" sounds really bad, I don't get why is his voice so high pitched. "Popstar" is quite good though

Posted by: Bré Jul 23 2020, 10:48 PM

I think these are both quite good and both sound like potential growers. Not actually sure which of the two I prefer yet!

I do think 'GREECE' would easily be my fave of the two if he got The Weeknd to actually be on it rather than Drake doing a blatant impersonation of him laugh.gif

Posted by: dan-G Jul 28 2020, 07:46 PM

Popstar US #3
Greece US #8

And with those two Drake finally has 40 top 10 hits, that is 2 more than Madonna! cheeseblock.png

Posted by: Bré Jul 28 2020, 08:02 PM

clap.gif of course Drake had to gain that record in style getting 2 debuts at once x

(with a few more listens I have decided that 'GREECE' is defo my fave of these two but both of them have grown on me more, I like both quite a bit x)

Posted by: dan-G Jul 28 2020, 08:17 PM

Drake greatest hits rate to mark the occasion? it's been 2 years and 2 albums since his last one!

Posted by: troylovesmusic Aug 12 2020, 10:33 AM

I feel like most people thought ‘Popstar’ would be the one to take off more out of the 2 songs but so far it’s actually ‘Greece’ doing better !

Posted by: Dobbo Aug 12 2020, 10:51 AM

That surprises me as GREECE sounds far far more commercial sounding! I do prefer it so happy it's fallen that way round.

Posted by: dan-G Aug 12 2020, 11:31 AM

I've grown to much prefer 'Greece' now too, mostly thanks to it actually having a melody.

Posted by: Bré Aug 12 2020, 11:35 AM

'POPSTAR' is still the bigger hit in the US though. I guess because it's more rap oriented (kind of ironic given the title that it's the less poppy of the two lol) which does better in the US than the UK.

POPSTAR music video starring Bieber:

I'm actually really liking this and the video is fun (if not taken too seriously)

Posted by: hlavkus Sep 5 2020, 11:31 AM

The video is great and I still like the track, don't understand how "Greece" has more success. I laughed at Bieber's ringtone being a midi version of Baby laugh.gif

Posted by: Jαsє Sep 5 2020, 01:29 PM

That video is an absolute embarrassment. Oh Justin mellow.gif

I think it's great. Bit of a piss take/ throwback to the pre-marriage Bieber lifestyle and it suits the theme of the song too.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Sep 5 2020, 04:42 PM

I really like the video it’s actually quite creative !

Posted by: dan::G Apr 28 2021, 08:03 AM

The album Khaled Khaled will be out this Friday

Posted by: Rooney Apr 28 2021, 08:33 AM

Isn't there meant to be a song with Bieber & Timberlake together?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Apr 28 2021, 08:39 AM

From his Instagram caption it sounds like they are separate songs:

QUOTE
My brothers I’m gonna call you back! I’m mixing BOTH of y’all’s VOCALS! 🔑 @justinbieber I just got done with the mix a few days ago get ready for mastering!
And @justintimberlake I just sent the record we did together off to mix
My brothers I will call you RIGHT BACK!

?

Posted by: Alberto! Apr 28 2021, 04:59 PM

He's very cringe, but when he gets it right he's capable of sizeable bops.

Posted by: Sour Candy Apr 28 2021, 06:44 PM

JT or Khaled or both? tongue.gif

Posted by: Bjork Apr 28 2021, 07:42 PM

DJ Khaled is the definition of cringe ohmy.gif

Posted by: LewisGT Apr 28 2021, 10:52 PM

Nas & Jay-Z on the same song ohmy.gif

Posted by: Bré Apr 29 2021, 02:32 AM

Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby and DaBaby all on the same song sounds like something that is going to break Apple Music in the US laugh.gif

Posted by: Sour Candy Apr 29 2021, 04:19 AM

He had Travis Scott and Post Malone on the same song last time around and it did nothing. So, nothing is guaranteed.

Posted by: Mangø Apr 30 2021, 01:38 PM

I don't think I could bring myself to sit through an entire DJ Khaled album. Does he actually say 'We Da Best Music' at the start of every song on the album?

Posted by: Dan17F1 Apr 30 2021, 01:49 PM

I quite like ‘I Did It’ from the ones I’ve heard. Nothing else really stood out for me but I didn’t get through the whole album!

Posted by: Rooney Apr 30 2021, 01:58 PM

I Did It is a bit of a mess, too many vocals for my liking. I quite like the Bieber song, the beat is great and Savage sounds great on the track.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Apr 30 2021, 02:05 PM

I think ‘I Did It’ is meant to be the main 1st single . I can see it being big it’s got big current names that radio will eat up .

Posted by: Mack. Apr 30 2021, 04:05 PM

Jay-Z and Nas on the same song never thought I see the day that would happen.

Posted by: k👠th May 2 2021, 02:30 PM

He did it! ANOTHA ONE

DA BEST MUSIC! DJ KHALEEDD

Posted by: Alberto! May 3 2021, 12:39 AM

I've not gone through any of this yet but I noticed he added a track feat. Cardi B last minute to the final tracklist, which wasn't in the initial back cover he posted.

Also I've noticed that the bottom of the tracklist he credits his 2 toddlers, himself and Allah as the Executive Producers of the album

I noticed that as well, reminded me of that one time Kanye West had God feature on one of his album tracks, namely... I Am A God (lol)
