Did you send this bc the video says “PROJ_JADE” bray I-

I mean I'm not gonna lie, I discovered Devault through a different song and noticed he had an EP called 'JADE' which did make me curious so like... sort of? kink.gif

In another fun coincidence Devault also released a remix of 070 Shake's 'Guilty Conscience' like one day after I confirmed him for this contest, so it was always meant to be cheeseblock.png

08. Juan Carlos was behind…

The Midnight - River of Darkness (feat. Timecop1983)

QUOTE
+12: Jai Wolf featuring Mr. Gabriel – "Starlight"
+10: Rogue VHS – "Jupiter"
+08: Andromeda Dreams – "Two Million Light Years"
+07: Jean Michel Jarre – "Oxygene Pt. II"
+06: Arvo Party – "Chevy Chase"
+05: Sunglasses Kid – "Last Days of Sun"
+04: Wice – "Star Fighter"
+03: Dan Terminus – "Digital Onslaught"
+02: Zombie Hyperdrive – "Red Eyes"
+01: Flashworx – "Odaiba Chase"

Honourable Mention: Future Holotape – "Light Racer"

Next up it’s Juan Carlos who is revealed to be the one behind ‘River of Darkness’ by The Midnight featuring Timecop1983! Both names are heavyweights in the world of synthwave so it’s a surprise to see this entry languishing in the bottom 3 right now. Perhaps more of a mid-tempo moment got a bit lost in amongst the full-throttle entries and über relaxing ones. It’s still early days though so they could still make a comeback. ‘River of Darkness’ is one of quite a few saxophone-heavy songs in the contest - an often essential element of synthwave tbh. Juan Carlos awards Jai Wolf top marks so ‘Starlight’ now has a lead of 17 points! Can that be overtaken? We’re still yet to find out who is behind that one. ‘Jupiter’ continues to get medal positions and nothing else so that is enough for this lewis entry to rise to 2nd. Andromeda Dreams receive the bronze, so that lifts up to 6th. I remain in 4th place after a 6 point boost, while Jean Michel Jarre rises into the top 5! Poor ‘Miami’ is still waiting for votes.

1 51 Jai Wolf - Starlight (feat. Mr Gabriel)

5 28 Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Pt. II

(btw belated thanks to Lewis and Wardy for the points so far as well!! medal position swap with Lewis you love to see it)

The top 5 is looking pretty great now *.*

'Miami' was one of the many songs that wasn't super far off my points by the way (it was 15th but could v easily have been 9th) so hope that'll get off 0 ASAP as well...

09. King Rollo was behind…

Artemus Gordon - Deathrace 2000

QUOTE
Some of you might have thought that I entered Jean Michel Jarre but it wasn't me. Oxygene Part II is my 414th favourite song of all time so it obviously gets my 12 points. Here is my vote:

12pts - Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Part II
10 - Rogue VHS - Jupiter
8 - Zombie Hyperdrive - Red Eyes
7 - Hollywood Burns - Scherzo No.5 in Death Minor
6 - Fixion - Zero Tolerance Control
5 - Wayfloe - Fractions
4 - Devault - Runway
3 - Dan Terminus - Digital Onslaught
2 - Kalax - Carousel
1 - Rosentwig - Press Start To Begin Your Journey

Now it’s Rollo’s turn to be revealed! He was surprisingly not behind one of the longer songs like ‘Oxygene Pt. II’. Instead he sent French producer Artemus Gordon with the instrumental ‘Deathrace 2000’. The accompanying visuals feature footage from the anime movie Redline. There’s a pretty intense race going on so it’s fitting for the title. Rollo is currently scraping top 20, not bad, however his favourite ‘Oxygene Part II’ is now sitting pretty in the top 3, wow! Who could be behind that one? His 10 points for ‘Jupiter’, still getting medals or nothing, reduces the gap between 1st and 2nd to 7 points. He snubbed Jai Wolf so that helped here. Rollo’s bronze goes to ‘Red Eyes’ which now has a round 20 points. Dexton’s entry finally gets another point but this is not enough to lift Rosentwig from second last. As for last… poor ‘Miami’, will that have better luck as we reach a double-figure number of voters?

1 51 Jai Wolf - Starlight (feat. Mr Gabriel)
2 44 Rogue VHS - Jupiter [lewistgreen]
3 40 Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Pt. II
4 33 Niky Nine - 909 & Heartbreak [NocheLuna]
5 29 Arvo Party - Chevy Chase [Jade]
6 29 Hollywood Burns - Scherzo No.5 in Death Minor
7 25 Andromeda Dreams - Two Million Light Years
8 22 Sunglasses Kid - Last Days of Sun
9 22 Wayfloe - Fractions (feat. Jessie Frye)
10 21 Glitch Lazzer - Don't Give Up

11 21 Devault - RUNWAY [Bré]
12 20 Fixion - Zero Tolerance Control (feat. Dimitrius)
13 20 Zombie Hyperdrive - Red Eyes
14 18 Future Holotape - Light Racer [awardinary]
15 18 David Hasselhoff - True Survivor
16 18 Wice - Star Fighter [Addy]
17 17 Gemini Rising - Orbit
18 16 Scandroid - Neo Tokyo (Dance With The Dead Remix)
19 16 Flashworx - Odaiba Chase
20 13 Artemus Gordon - Deathrace 2000 [King Rollo]

21 13 Dan Terminus - Digital Onslaught
22 9 Kalax - Carousel (feat. World Wild)

Still only 2 of my votes unmasked after 9 reveals ;o Artemus Gordon was 11th for me though so was a pretty strong opening track! Rollo would have been my best guess for who was behind Jean-Michel Jarre so no surprise at that 12. Thanks for a few more points for Devault as well! Not going too badly so far ~

Thanks. I found it after listening to some synthwave playlists. A lot of them were quite samey but this one had quite an epic sound to it.

Hyped to see if Jean-Michel Jarre can win this now.

10. Dobbo was behind…

Zombie Hyperdrive - Red Eyes

QUOTE
music.gif music.gif music.gif ~~~Synthy~~~ music.gif music.gif music.gif

This was a really enjoyable contest! For a subgenre I'm not all that familiar with I found myself liking a lot here. Broken down into 4 categories below of exceptional / very strong / pretty good / decent then those not listed I wasn't too fond of although there weren't any I outright disliked.

Club Bizarre continues to bring the goods even remotely cheer.gif

12: Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Pt. II
10: Devault - RUNWAY
08: Hollywood Burns - Scherzo No.5 in Death Minor
07: Glitch Lazzer - Don't Give Up

06: Dan Terminus - Digital Onslaught
05: Rosentwig - Press Start To Begin Your Journey
04: The Midnight - River of Darkness (feat. Timecop1983)

03: Arvo Party - Chevy Chase
02: Flashworx - Odaiba Chase
01: Wice - Star Fighter

Rogue VHS - Jupiter
Gemini Rising - Orbit
Niky Nine - 909 & Heartbreak

Voter number 10 is Dobbo! His entry is revealed to be ‘Red Eyes’ by Zombie Hyperdrive. This is one of the many tracks entered with a spooky title. However, it’s not so scary sonically. It’s a mix of synths and guitar and has this real late night drive feel to it, especially with the accompanying image so kindly provided by NewRetroWave. Dobbo’s votes shake things up as we have a NEW LEADER! Jean Michel Jarre snatches the crown currently after a second 12 in a row, while Jai Wolf is snubbed. Just a measly mealworm point in it… oh my! Still waiting to find out who is behind either entry of course. Dobbo’s 10 points go to ‘RUNWAY’ so that advances to 7th - resulting in Brade next to each other! He also supports fellow spooky titled entry ‘Scherzo No.5 in Death Minor’ as that returns to the top 5. Still nothing for ‘Miami’ - eek!

Yass thank you Dobbo, highest points I have got so far and into the top 10 *.* (next to Jade's song as well you love to see it xx). Ooh at Jean-Michel Jarre taking the lead as well! That one had a very mixed reception on BeatSense so interesting to see it actually doing so well so far.

This reveal order is really keeping me waiting to find out who's behind the songs I voted for though, still only my top 2 unmasked so far! Zombie Hyperdrive was another of the many contenders for my last 2 spots though (landing in 14th).

Next up it’s Harry and his entry is revealed to be the Dance With The Dead remix of Scandroid’s ’Neo Tokyo’! Both of these acts are BJSC alumni, with Dance With The Dead scoring top 3 hit ’Waves’ in the 79th contest. Could this do as well tonight? Well, it’s currently scraping the top 20, so it needs a lot more support - but we are only on vote 11 so far, so we’ll see what happens! This is a very epic remix with guitars galore and an anthemic chorus. Harry’s votes change the leader again as Jai Wolf is there once more thanks to 8 points! But Jean Michel Jarre does get 3 points too so the lead is only 4 points. 12 points go to Gemini Rising after a long drought and that’s enough to be back in the top 10! Dan Terminus also benefits a lot from Harry’s silver and rises to 8th. High points for my entry ‘Chevy Chase’ allows that to rise into the top 5 again. Still waiting patiently for ‘Miami’ points!

A great entry from Harry, always nice to see DANCE WITH THE DEAD being wheeled out in these contests - really don't get how it's doing so badly so far? (The Midnight being so low is rather shocking as well, although I wasn't the biggest fan of that song, I really thought name recognition could be a big help in this contest but seems like it's more the opposite so far!)

Thanks for some more points Harry as well cheer.gif
