BuzzJack Music Forum _ R&B and Hip-Hop _ Iggy Azalea - Trouble (feat. Jennifer Hudson)

Iggy Azalea has confirmed that the next single from Reclassified is Trouble, featuring Jennifer Hudson! biggrin.gif REALLY happy about this, it's such a fantastic, sassy track and I NEED a video for it.

ugh...me no like this.

Love this! So happy and upbeat, should've been lead single with heavy crown following.

Posted by: Jack 22nd December 2014, 08:01 PM

For some reason I see everything from Reclassified flopping. It should have never happened, it has put me off Iggy because it all just feels like a cheap cash in and sub par.

THIS.

Also, with all the "racism" drama going on twitter, I see her career free falling from this point.

I agree. Reclassified is so shit - not even a fraction of The New Classic's quality. I hope this isn't a sign of quality of her next album.

Posted by: Liаm 22nd December 2014, 09:25 PM

I think Reclassified is ok, it was just such a shoddy mess of a re-release. They could have at least just added the few new tracks and maybe a couple of remixes to a second disc alongside the original, rather than taking some of the worst tracks from the original album and adding the new tracks onto those. That or they could have just waited for the second album, I mean I love her but it's not as if new material was THAT much in demand really!

Plus if Beg For It wasn't a hit (it did ok in the US and Australia I guess, top 40), none of the new tracks have a chance so she may as well move on.

Posted by: CDC 29th December 2014, 01:26 AM

she *literally* could not have picked anything worse

Posted by: Davidson 29th December 2014, 01:49 PM

This is pretty awful isn't it. No thanks.

Heavy Crown says hello.

Posted by: barbaric_dan 30th December 2014, 10:31 PM

I like it. I just wonder how it's gonna do.

I really think they shouldn't habe bothered with this re-release. They've clearly had no time to focus on it.

Posted by: TOXIC_AIR 31st December 2014, 07:10 AM

She needs to let go of this release, take a short break and release a new album.

Ooh wow ohmy.gif Looking fantastic, Iggy always delivers on videos. This NEEDS to smash, it's so good cry.gif

Posted by: Joe. 3rd February 2015, 09:37 AM

I just can't believe that after Fancy and Black Widow smashed so much worldwide that 'Beg For It' didn't even get properly picked up and flopped so bad(as did Reclassified). Her future is blurry for sure.

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd February 2015, 09:42 AM

The lack of a Beg For It video was no doubt part of its flop here, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't even sent to radio tbh, handled so poorly.

It still isn't growing for me. She's gone so downhill with the release of 'Reclassified' and its singles.

Posted by: Acoustic 5th February 2015, 06:52 PM

I don't like this song but Iggy always brings it with artwork. Sure the video will be great too.

Loved that!! yahoo.gif

cute, but they better use the radio edit which is so much better for the real music video!!

Posted by: Jonjo 27th February 2015, 03:05 PM

Video is here! biggrin.gif

Nice video. Not up to her past standards though. The song is still poo too. Nothing happens during it, at all.

Posted by: JosephStyles 27th February 2015, 03:52 PM

Ha, love that video! Not quite as good as Fancy or Black Widow but still a lot of fun and perfect for the track. The song is still FANTASTIC to my ears, although I prefer J-Hud's parts to Iggy's.

Posted by: jark 27th February 2015, 06:18 PM

Not a bad video (although clearly nothing on Fancy or Black Widow) and I do like the production and J Hud's hook, but Iggy's contributions here are complete trash and the whole exercise seems futile. Move on to the next album already!

Posted by: Dillan 27th February 2015, 07:33 PM

The song is just so boring. sad.gif

Posted by: troylovesmusic 27th February 2015, 08:13 PM

I love the video the ending is hilarious laugh.gif I quite like the song as well I don't get the hate for it. I think I like Jennifer's parts more than Iggy's though .

Posted by: jmmc 15th March 2015, 05:30 PM

this just went top 10 in Australia somehow laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th March 2015, 05:35 PM

laugh.gif good going! It'll go top 40 in the UK at the very least I think, it's just outside on iTunes. Impact date is 19th April so there's a while for airplay to build up. Really not sure whether radio will latch on or not, who knows what went on with Beg For It...

Posted by: jmmc 15th March 2015, 07:27 PM

its up to #81 on the main UK singles chart this week, the sales version isnt available for me yet

Track of the Day on Radio 1! cheer.gif A very good sign that radio are back on board with her. Beg For It never really happened, guessing it got cancelled in the UK.

Posted by: *Tim 17th March 2015, 05:42 PM

yasss! I never expected this to be a hit for her but glad it's looking v likely. I wish the US would get on board more tho

Yay!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: jmmc 22nd March 2015, 09:05 PM

up to #52 on the official UK Singles Chart (#32 on the sales only version, #31 in Scotland) better than nothing :/ lol

I wonder if radios will still support (and if Radio 1 will playlist)

Posted by: *Tim 27th March 2015, 03:34 PM

This is currently in the top 30 on US iTunes, due to some viral video by Jack from Will & Grace (idk his actual name) And still rising fast.

She's also got iHeart Radio, Kids Choice Awards and American Idol coming up. I can see this going top 10 on iTunes at least, now we only need radio to catch on

100% agree.

Posted by: JosephStyles 28th March 2015, 04:30 PM

This is my third favourite of her singles tbh ohmy.gif

1. Fancy
2. Work
3. Trouble
4. Black Widow
5. Change Your Life
6. Bounce
7. Beg For It (got old quickly)

Posted by: Apricot 28th March 2015, 04:32 PM

This definitely one of her worst, her quality of music has crashed with Reclassified.

01. Change Your Life
02. Fancy
03. Black Widow
04. Work
05. Bounce
06. Beg For It
07. Trouble

The sooner she moves on to a new album, the better.

1 Black Widow
2 Fancy
3 Change Your Life
4 Work
5 Trouble
6 Bounce
7 Beg For It

BW is amazing but Work is definitely her strongest in rap terms

Posted by: Kath ♡ 28th March 2015, 04:47 PM

'Beg for It', as recycled as it is, is really underrated

She needs to lay off the features and put out some hard-hitting credible material along the lines of 'Work' and 'Goddess' to silence her hate brigade and win back her respect from the hip hop community

1. Change Your Life
2. Fancy
3. Beg For It
4. Bounce
5. Work
6. Black Widow
7. Trouble

Finally got round to listening to "Trouble" and actually quite enjoyed it. I have gone off Iggy Azalea as a person completely, and won't be purchasing anything from her anytime in the near future (having bought "Work", "Bounce" and "Change Your Life"). This sure beats the awful "Fancy" though (controversial opinion, I know).

Posted by: Dobbo 28th March 2015, 08:34 PM

1. Work (she'll do extremely well to ever top this)
2. Fancy
3. Beg For It (agreed with the above, massively underrated & shame it didn't perform)
4. Change Your Life
5. Black Widow (good track, but got bored of it pretty quickly)
6. Trouble (hasn't hit me yet, need a few more listens)
7. Bounce (the only one I dislike, incredibly annoying)

Posted by: Jack 29th March 2015, 12:21 AM

I would say;

01 Work
02 Change Your Life
03 Fancy
04 Bounce
05 Trouble
06 Beg For It
07 Black Widow

02 | Bounce
03 | Work
04 | Change Your Life ft T.I.
05 | Beg For It ft MŲ
06 | Black Widow ft Rita Ora
07 | Trouble ft Jennifer Hudson

Trouble is growing on me since that video of J-Hud and James Corden. The highlight of the song is definitely the chorus though, the verses are quite weak.

Posted by: Explozian 15th April 2015, 06:48 PM

I think that's a recurring theme, all of her big hits have rested on big, identical choruses sung by someone else.

She sounds like a featured artist on her own songs and that's a sin for a big, urban artist (well, "urban" as in she knows some black people). She should be spitting killer bars, getting in touch with her inner thug misses, DOMINATING the track, not relying on the feature. Her most famous lines are ones about owning slaves and impersonating characters from The Wild Thornberries.

(aside from Pu$$y which is absolutely lethal)

THIS! She needs to take tips from Nicki. When Nicki raps on a song, lead or guest, it becomes her song. There's very few examples where it doesn't become about her (possibly "Only"). Iggy needs to work on her raps to make them more memorable and own the song. That's her main problem. The only time she's done that is...Problem. kink.gif

Posted by: JoeyXCX 15th April 2015, 07:06 PM

I'd say Iggy owns Fancy? Everyone of course knows the hook really well but the "who dat who dat? I-G-G-Y" parts are just as remembered, plus the opening line.

Posted by: Explozian 15th April 2015, 07:23 PM

I suppose she's got a couple of decent lines in that one, they're just a bit brief.

I don't know if it's her poor diction or the mixing but she frequently seems submerged in the production, particularly on this new one. It leaves you waiting for the unclear, mumbly parts to end before the chorus. I want her to switch it up, her flow is quite samey. She sits under the beat, I don't feel like she WANTS to trash the hotel with Charli, nor get drunk on the minibus.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 15th April 2015, 07:35 PM

To be fair, Iggy's being watered down with features because 'Fancy' and 'Black Widow' are what made her breakout and what her label took notice of, hence the birth of 'Beg for It' and the reissue being dominated with features

She is a very capable rapper, I think songs like 'Goddess' and '100' showcase this and the majority of her mixtapes/EPs prior to TNC. I just think her label are afraid to give her room to shine on her own, especially in the light of the mass criticism she's been receiving lately with regard to her talent as perceived by the GP

Not at all. She has all the memorable hooks from Fancy, in fact, Charli got trashed for her piss poor vocals on that track.

Black Widow i'd say was 50/50. Problem, Iggy totally owned that song. BFI, Iggy owned it once again.

Work remains one of her best and is a solo. Just because she's using pop girl features people look down on it like it's not as good, rap wise. It's elitist and kind of sad.

Anyway, Trouble's sales are around 40k right now, it's 34 in the mid-weeks. Should be getting a nice boost for Sunday.

I felt so bad for her after that live performance (SNL?) when her vocals got torn apart and her awkward moves.

At least Lean On is becoming a hit for her.

BFI deserved a video and proper single treatment though, i'm still mad she let it flop.

Posted by: JoeyXCX 15th April 2015, 09:42 PM

I do wonder why there was no video for Beg For It, even if it got scrapped in the UK, it still went ahead in the US, could've helped it go top 10 drama.gif

Welcome to the forum btw! biggrin.gif Nice to see another Iggy fan!

Thanks! Been a fan since her mixtape days on Youtube.

I'm honestly shocked Trouble made it to the top 10 though. I don't really like the song much. But the viral videos have helped, apparently the J-Hud/Corden video has gone viral now too.

Also it's being added to Capital's playlist and Radio 1 A-List as of Monday.

If she really owned Fancy in her own right, then they wouldn't have released two carbon copies of it with featured artist, big choruses as follow-ups. She would have been allowed to stand alone, no feature. That she's been continually watered down into this odd mix of an edgy rapper that releases fun, cartoonish pop songs is testament to that.

Plenty of hip-hop artists have worked with female popstars and produced excellent songs, that's a total departure from my argument and I find that quite frustrating.

If I was in the mood to be elitist, I'd say that her awful freestyling and bizarre co-opting of Southern patois would preclude her from being a proper rap artist, not that.

Same but I thought they had done that back when it charted on the top 100 over a month after its release cuz of this:

But it was just a statistical thing to report back then since the sales of Reclassified alone probably weren't relevant and won't count towards the same official certification (if she ever gets one for the album at this rate) anyway sad.gif

Only one Google Play 99p album reached a new peak - Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea's Reclassified, which enters the Top 75 for the first time at number 59 (3,240 sales), having debuted and previously peaked five weeks ago at number 118. It is essentially a revamped version of Azalea's debut album, The New Classic, which reached number five last year, and has sold 49,372 copies to date.

I think the summary is incorrect! The 49k sales are solely for The New Classic biggrin.gif I see the confusion though haha.

I really like this, another great single from her. She always delivers amazing videos too!

ofc it misses the top 20 on the official uk singles chart by 1 spot laugh.gif then again a week ago I thought it would miss the top 40 altogether so not that bad in the end tongue.gif

Posted by: jmmc 26th April 2015, 06:19 PM

Reclassified spends another week on the official uk top 100 albums, Trouble up to #13 singles #2 r&b #9 scotland
lol if it didnt make the top 10 this week it prob wont make it now cuz streaming prob wont increase THAT much + new releases right? anyway still a good result, just wish TNC would get a certification but bring on Pretty Girls next week and the new album in the Summer!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th April 2015, 06:29 PM

Trouble should make it next week I'd think! Its sales are stable right now and its streaming is increasing quickly too, it's top 30 on Spotify right now! biggrin.gif

Posted by: jmmc 26th April 2015, 06:49 PM

I almost want it to fall already so this era can finally end everywhere and avoid getting our hopes up again another week only for it to end up #12 or #11 kink.gif ph34r.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th April 2015, 06:55 PM

laugh.gif I know what you mean, #11 especially would be awful drama.gif It's surpassing my expectations already though tbh, I didn't think it would trouble (no pun intended) the top 40 at all when first announced!

Posted by: jmmc 26th April 2015, 07:05 PM

Same, I thought it'd flop big time everywhere as in non-charting single laugh.gif at least it is Iggy's seventh UK top 20 hit now.

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th April 2015, 07:11 PM

Indeed! And it's matched Bounce's peak at least, so that's very good going when you put it like that. 6 top 20s out of the 6 UK singles from this era is a fantastic effort biggrin.gif

Posted by: Joe. 26th April 2015, 07:23 PM

Really rather surprised that it isn't even top 10. It was 4/5 on iTunes pretty much all week. I knew streaming would cost it a place or two, but being as low as #13... I really think they need to adjust how much streaming effects the chart now, because it's starting to represent less and less what people are actually buying.

#7 sales, #41 streams.

Posted by: jmmc 26th April 2015, 07:32 PM

^idk how it fell to #13 from the Friday update, wasn't it #11? I know all those positions must be verryyy close but I thought this would get the edge considering it was the one actually improving significantly in comparison this week as you pointed out laugh.gif

Sacrilegious that it managed to outpeak the magnum opus Work though teresa.gif

I don't think you can disregard Beg For It being a single in the UK? It was released as a digital single & has a remix EP. That seems very single-esque to me... :eyesemoji:

Posted by: JosephStyles 27th April 2015, 01:54 PM

I disregard it as a UK single because of radio - sure, radio can snub any single they want, but it's quite clear they do it on an artist-by-artist basis, and Beg For It followed two huge smashes as well as three further top 20s before that, they had no valid reason to snub her with Beg For It. Furthermore, they then playlisted Trouble, as high up as the a-list. The only explanation I can see for Beg For It being snubbed was its release being cancelled for whatever reason. Obviously it's hard to know the ins and outs of it all but I think if Radio 1 truly passed on Beg For It, they would have passed on Trouble too.

Posted by: mr_aly 27th April 2015, 02:01 PM

Plus 'Beg For It' never had a video.

Posted by: Joe. 27th April 2015, 02:01 PM

It was playlisted on 1Xtra and Capital Xtra though, so it's hard to tell...

Posted by: Jay ジ 27th April 2015, 02:07 PM

I just think that cancelling a release needs to involve actually cancelling the release? laugh.gif And it wasn't cancelled in that respect, it was widely available. They even went ahead and released remixes eventually.

Radio snubbing a song, I don't think that's an automatic case of "it's not a single then, because they've not playlisted it".

Also not having a video isn't grounds to dismiss something as not being a single either. tongue.gif Equally sometimes a song having a video doesn't make it a single.

It's all very arbitrary, but Beg For It was singled out for single treatment and was never dubbed Urban only/buzz/instant grat/album track cut only.

Posted by: jmmc 27th April 2015, 05:17 PM

I don't rly consider Beg For It an actual single outside North America either tbh, let alone a LEAD single of a new project at that.. maybe a promotional single for the reissue since it was available/did get a digital release. Reclassified had one of the weirdest and messiest campaigns ever, way to kill her momentum worldwide after Black Widow wacko.gif

Posted by: barbaric_dan 27th April 2015, 11:15 PM

BFI wasnt even sent to UK radio.

Posted by: Jay ジ 27th April 2015, 11:31 PM

Does UK radio really dictate that heavily what is a single and what isn't? Every song that isn't played/playlisted = not a single? Well, I'll take that definition if it means Girls Aloud - Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me wasn't a single after all. cool2.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 27th April 2015, 11:41 PM

It doesn't heavily dictate it but it's a very good indicator especially with Iggy. As I said, Radio 1 do not playlist a song on its own merit (despite what they say) and it's on the artist - they would not snub a single of Iggy's when they a-listed the ones either side. That to me is a clear indicator that it wasn't a UK single. If it really wasn't sent (which I can believe), then I'm even more certain.

Did that release itself not actually get cancelled, and its charting at #97 was due to a performance on CIN?

I guess the CIN performance must have contributed to "awareness" of 'Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me' at least, although that performance did occur 10 days before the album actually came out, so it wasn't available to buy in the immediate aftermath.

It was a weird one, that song and what its status was supposed to be. The way it was handled was pretty much the opposite of any previous single they'd released. There never seemed to be any plans for it to have a physical or digital release, or even artwork. It didn't seem to get any radio exposure bar its premiere! The only factors that gave it a "single feel" was the music video & the fact that they performed it on more than one occasion. If it was ever a properly planned single that they decided to cancel, they certainly did that rather quietly. I wish there could have been some confirmation from any of the girls whether it was to be regarded as a single or not.

Re: 'Beg For It', I just think it's a bit of a "get out of jail free card" situation when a new single fails to ignite by a popular artist for whatever reason, and then fans declare it not to be a single at all because it wasn't playlisted? I'd hardly regard 'Beg For It' as being a "UK album track" and it's never been described as a buzz single / promotional track or whatever. It was just regarded as the new Iggy single at the time it was out. laugh.gif I'm not sure it can really be regarded as a cancelled single either, given that there's a digital single & digital EP available.

I really miss pre-downloads/pre-streams sometimes, when it was just 100% clear that a single was a single if there was a physical format in the shops... and sometimes particular singles by big artists flopped! drama.gif

Anyway it doesn't really matter. Nothing is official or clear-cut about the situation; we can all regard Beg For It however we like, it's fine. kink.gif Lady Gaga G.U.Y. and Jessie J Burnin' Up were singles!!!!

~~~~~
Just to make this thread vaguely on topic again (I apologise x)... 'Trouble' is such a grower. wub.gif I really hope this is the week that it goes Top 10 in the UK.
Posted by: barbaric_dan 28th April 2015, 10:21 PM
What happened with BFI remains a mystery. It seems the logical story is that Mų wasn't comfortable with promoting the song further and Iggy and her team decided to halt the release.
Posted by: JosephStyles 29th April 2015, 10:26 PM
#8 in the mids today!! Looking good for the top 10 this weekend biggrin.gif
Posted by: 768Sound 3rd May 2015, 11:30 AM
This sounds ok, but her older stuff is a bit better imo.
Posted by: THEO. 3rd May 2015, 12:05 PM
I like this but it is neither Iggy nor Jennifer's best. What I'm really annoyed about is how "Trouble" and "Go All Night" have become UK top 20 hits when JHUD failed to produce any hits here - I remember loving "Dangerous" and there was a collab with Iggy on there too, hopefully she'll try and push that now that this is looking to be a hit.
Posted by: Liаm 3rd May 2015, 12:53 PM
JHud's Iggy collab He Ain't Goin' Nowhere is immense, so funky wub.gif Miles ahead of this Trouble imo.
Posted by: jmmc 3rd May 2015, 05:34 PM
An official UK Top 10 hit now!! yahoo.gif
Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd May 2015, 05:38 PM
YASSSSSS!!! Delighted for that, been loving this since last November, so great to see a song blossom into a hit heart.gif
Posted by: Joe. 5th May 2015, 02:28 PM
Reclassified might re-peak this weekend (actually make the top 40?). Not only was it 99p yesterday (enough to get Charli XCX from out of the top 100 to #33 on Sunday), but it's also advertised as reduced on iTunes from last night, so it steadily rising up the chart again (currently #95). and obviously has the increasing relevance and airplay of Trouble as well as Britney buzz to back it up.
It's on 191.5k, so will go silver this week.
I have tried with this song, but I just can't like it. sad.gif It's clunky and jarring.
At least it's a certification, and for the SEVENTH single of an Album campaign, to get a certification is decent enough for her to end TNC+RC's album campaign. I believe Work, Fancy, Black Widow and Trouble would have all received certifications this era? I'm happy enough with that biggrin.gif
Posted by: Joe. 20th May 2015, 03:00 PM
At this midweek stage Trouble is on 201k, so it's officially passed silver, and will be awarded it by the BPI on Friday smile.gif
Posted by: JosephRomanyuta 20th May 2015, 03:06 PM
Fantastic news wub.gif So delighted at how well this has done, I didn't expect it to even touch the top 40 at first, let alone go top 10!
