I know it's probably laughable that this album has a moment that makes me emotional, but I've been heading back to my hometown today after my grandad's passing, and Wonder has really touched me and grown to become a huge favourite.
I guess it goes to figure that it is the only non-Dr Luke production on the album, and also the longest song on the album. I think it's also undoubtedly the most "Katy" songs on the album and reminds me a bit of Ghost from Prism? It feels like a song she's had a strong part in writing, rather than feeling like a Dr Luke cast-off from another project. Such a gorgeous closer and a huge highlight. I think it could've made a great single with a little beefing up here and there, it feels mature and honest to a 39 year old who has a child. |

Just finished the album.
Wonder is absolutely beautiful. Take the kids opening and closing it (or get Daisy herself to do it?) and we have one of her most beautiful songs. It made me think of Madonna's Ray of Light album, being written in the aftermath of becoming a mother and discovering the beauty of doing so but also the fears that come with such a milestone. The lyrics moved me completely (being an Uncle to the most gorgeous little girl ever, I want the message of this song to follow her over the next few years). It lyrically touches on what Ray Of Light does but it's Katy's stamp on that. Oh how the potential is there - imagine an album of Wonders? Songs about being in love with being a mother and a wife and a woman - that's what 143 should've stood for. Instead we get "hold onto your men, women are out on the prowl and we look good!!1" with awful, tinny, regressive production. The same tired songs with awful lyrics and cringe sentiments. Wonder is my keeper from the album, the rest I'll probably skip (though I'm His, He's Mine is a bop) |

#4 in the first midweek update, should guarantee it a comfortable top 10 finish at any rate, especially as there's loads of other newbies in the top 10 that'll drop fast too.

If only the whole album had been built around Wonder. Stargate <3
And credit where it's due, I rather like the bonus track Has A Heart too, it has a more laidback kind of vocal than a lot of the main album tracks and it's got a good chorus hook. The kind of simple hand clap production really works too. I'd take it over half of the main album tbh. |

She is very safe to stay top 10 on Friday and who knows she might manage to stay top 5, considering the bad reviews she is getting i think its a decent result and looks to be on track to match the sales of her last album on the opening week.

It's probably been mentioned already, but I can't unhear how much Nirvana sounds like Double Trouble chorus from the Will Ferrell Eurovision movie.
Hoping Wonder does get to have the single treatment if the label won't have given up on funding the campaign anymore. Agree with the comments on this being the sort of theme Katy should have focused on for this album. This post has been edited by GTH: Tuesday, 05:13 PM |

21 Savage is the one saving grace of that track. Why is there a solo version?

21 Savage is the one saving grace of that track. Is he really though x Big dog Savage, I'm the man of your dreams (21) I heard you gotta jump just to put on your jeans I'm like Amazon 'cause I got what you need (21) She gave me her heart, so I gave her my keys (21) i- That entire song is wretched! ~~~ All the Love and Wonder are the only two non-singles that made me perk up a little bit while giving this album its first listen. Even then I'd only go as far as to describe them as "good", but it's far from love at first listen. Nothing special. Gorgeous, Crush, Truth and Nirvana are all ok at a push, but they're not sticking in my mind after a couple of plays. Well, to be fair "gooooorgeooooous" (like, literally that one bit of the song) is memorable. As well as a part of 'Crush' simply for sounding like Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath, oop. Gimme Gimme and Artificial are really quite bad. After the first play of the album, I actually understood why they went with the three singles that they did lol. Like, I can hear the "logic" behind Woman's World first out of what they had to work with. Lifetimes has a bit of energy and sentiment to it compared to some of the other more AI-esque sounding offerings. Then there's I'm His, He's Mine - which for me is by a distance the best song here due to being the catchiest... with the sample and Doechii doing some heavy lifting; Katy's relatively inconsequential on her own song. Honestly I even had quite a bit of time for Witness, and felt sad for her at the time that she was getting dunked on when I didn't feel like she was deserving of that. Clearly Witness was a side step away from the sounds we were used to from her, but at least to me she sounded fully present in her music and it was admirable that she was trying out new things artistically - even if it wasn't a triumph overall. But on 143... she comes across as being checked out and the overall result is a bland and forgettable offering. |

Is he really though x Oh I agree that the entire song is wretched but he fits the track better than she does, so I'm not sure a solo version of that track is needed (just poor wording on my behalf )
