Would never have thought a few weeks ago that I'd see 'Sweet But Pscyho' on R1's playlist, but here it is in black and white only a fool would bet against it getting to #1 now.
I'm quite surprised (and I'll be honest, disappointed) to see 'Let You Love Me' being dropped after a relatively short run on the playlist, even more so considering it's still flying high in the Top 5 AND the album's out this week. They really should have dropped Mumford instead.
Decent additions this week, hurrah. YAY for Ava Max.
Interesting Robyn only gets added now though?
Ava Max and Robyn! And 'Baby' on the up!
Robyn <3
FISHER!!!!
Great to see R1 still supporting these club dance tunes even though they have no chart impact anymore.
too soon to drop Rita
they could have dropped that horrible Funky Friday song or the equally horrible Little Mix track
not crazy about the ads, just Robyn
Great for Fisher! I hope it will get at least low top 40/30 like Panic Room did
LOSING IT *.*
Ruin My Life needs to move up to A-List!
LOSING IT!
Great to see Sweet But Psycho added, Been loving this song for weeks!
Echoing what people saying I think Rita was taken off abit to early, Still loving let you love me!
Surprised still no add for Cheryl.
Even one week on the playlist was too much for Rita. (Seriously though she was on the A-List for 6 weeks, y'all are acting as if it was only 1 or 2? I know it's still in the charts but I don't think that's an unreasonably short time on the playlist).
Hopefully Robyn can move up, definitely one of her best
R1 were probably waiting to see if Cheryl's song would become a proper hit, and seeing as it's not doing too well I can't see it getting playlisted.
Radio 1 are just applying a bit of quality control let’s be honest. That and nobody outside of Cheryl’s fan base is interested.
I knew Cheryl was unlikely to get added from the outset. They didn't playlist her last single before she went away, and that's pretty much always a sign they've completely dumped an artist permanently. Plus it had been 4 years and her previous album was a flop.
Finally some support somewhere for FISHER
Very happy to see Ava Max added - the perfect antidote to all the MarshGlynneAnneMarie I've endured over the past few years. Pretty much everything I want from a pop song. I like it so much I've opened my 100-track five-disc 2018 playlist with it. Reminds me of the good old days of the late 00s/early 10s. Fantastic to see Robyn there even though it will do nothing, I was worried they were dropping their support when she disappeared from the Live Lounge line-up. Fisher is a welcome addition too, although I can't see it doing anything commercially. I want to like Weiss but it just doesn't seem to hit the spot with me very much despite the various nods to the early 1990s, probs cos it's all light and no shade. Baby needs to smash but I worry Marina is just too interesting and quirky for the general public.
Not heard That Sound enough times yet but loved Dead Boys. Hope The One isn't too coffee-tably but loved Blue Lights and What If I Go wasn't bad. Heaven Let Me In should be promoted and not surprised to see Slaves stall, fast becoming far more of a 6 Music band. Still miss the days where many more things that were never going to go Top 40 found their way onto the A-list. The C-list is virtually pointless these days, the songs that stall on there might as well not be played at all. I really hope Thursday isn't the Xmas #1.
C List does guarantee at least 1, often 2, daytime plays and when the outreach is several million it’s not that pointless really
I know but it can be annoying - there's been many an occasion where I've been looking forward to hearing a C-list song on daytime R1 and it's never happened, even when listening quite a bit!
I guess the small playlist these days increased the plays of each song. I remember in the 2000s the C-list would only get around 5-10 plays per week.
I'd put money on Mumford & Sons being Mused, Prodigied or Robbie Williamsed next time round! Florence is probably on thin Radio 1 ice too.
Yay! I was afraid they were dumping Robyn after Missing U didn't have much impact, so nice to see them still supporting her for at least another single.
Thing is I think it is possible to be dumped and then put back on depending how popular you are with certain groups. Has this ever happened before? Take That never REALLY got dumped didn't they not? (Until the last album?)
Did Radio 1 support Sia in the 00s?
Her career is the ultimate example of rebirth.
She got some top 40s but you could chart in those days without radio 1 support so I don't think so just from memory!
I'm fairly sure "Taken For Granted" and "Destiny" were playlisted, at least.
Not sure about "Clap Your Hands" pre-"Titanium" though!
Euphoria or Acerben usually have the older playlists I think so they'll be able to shine some light on this.
Maroon 5 (unfortunately) are the biggest example of an act being 'dumped' by R1 then brought back. They never playlisted 'Moves Like Jagger' or, I believe, anything from the album before that but they've spammed pretty much all of their singles since then.
Yeh that's right, prob the best example.
They didn't playlist MLJ but it had a lot of random plays after it was huge!
Didn't realise she had two Zero 7 features!!
So many songs back then on the A list especially!
Yes its good to see FISHER added, hopefully it might go low top 40 in the chart eventually although that seems unlikely sadly.
Which makes the chart poorer surely!!
Such excellent playlists back then....Tall Paul vs INXS - Precious Heart was A listed, then...., still sounds so current with its dark Camelphat style tech house sound!
OMG FISHER
a lot of adoration for that fisher song...i thought it was a RIGHT RACKET on my one play of it
Must give it a listen!
I do enjoy these dance bangers that R1 keep adding even if they do nowt, Neutron Dance probs being amongst the best this year. Even if it is just a thumpier instrumental Bizarre Love Triangle. The charts being as they are, I have to make a note of some of these R1 bangers as many don't touch the Top 100. They loved Remind Me by High Contrast a couple of years ago and I think that got to about #131! You definitely couldn't rely on the Top 40 or even the Top 100 alone if you were trying to document a specific period with a playlist in future years. I have had to use Radio 1/6 Music last.fm stats to make Alternative Nows for the past 12 years because so many total bangers completely miss the charts.
Yeh Neutron Dance is one of my dance tracks of the year and not a vocal in sight!!
I see Sam Fender has been added, I much prefer his song 'Poundshop...' though, the chorus of that one is epic.
