Tough Love actually out this week?

I thought that was a surefire huge smash until recently when it became clear it was getting no support or anything from anywhere. What a disaster. sad.gif

Posted by: SevenSees 6th August 2015, 11:22 PM

A new Jamie Woon track? ohmy.gif sure took his time there, Night Air still sounds great these days tbh wub.gif

Posted by: SHADE RATE ADAM 6th August 2015, 11:26 PM

The Piano Guys! <3 you guys should check their work on the Star Wars Chello vid, it's great! biggrin.gif
Cheering on Pony as it's a great fun track. Can't see it do too well though sob.gif but will cheer it on anyway smile.gif
Wet Dollars should do very well.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 6th August 2015, 11:26 PM

I hope Body on me does decently I think she is making a mistake though releasing it so early.

Posted by: 『bré』 6th August 2015, 11:26 PM

That is a bit weird that R1 didn't even playlist 'Pony (Jump On It)'!

I'm guessing that horrific Charlie Puth thing will be soaring to #1 this week then dry.gif Praying for Calvin to somehow hold out...

Agreed.

Starts off a little disappointing, but gets good around the 2 minute 45 seconds mark. He's on PMR now too - great label!

Hoping Hailee Steinfeld does something this week, utterly amazing pop debut wub.gif Also loving Marvin Gaye, Threads and Body On Me wub.gif

Also of course highly anticipated for Lana's new one, should be amazing heart.gif

Team Rita and Only The Young this week *.*

Really hoping OTY can make the top 40! sad.gif

Posted by: Chez Wombat 6th August 2015, 11:41 PM

I don't hate that Marvin Gaye song, but it's kinda bland and that main lyric has to go down as one of the ABSOLUTE worst I've ever heard, I actually cringe when I hear it mellow.gif I can't see how someone thought 'yes that's a good lyric' when writing that song. laugh.gif

Meghan Trainor getting another hit too :/ This song being huge highlights why my interest in the charts is rock bottom atm. Grumble grumble etc.

Only The Young out too, quite a poor song, shame as I liked them on XF and was hoping they'd get something stronger for their lead single.

Posted by: scratchy23 7th August 2015, 12:25 AM

Rita Ora doing OA/OS? She's the last person I'd think would try that tactic. Looks like lots of labels are going for OA/OS now which is a GOOD THING!!

Team Calvin of course, although I'm expecting "Marvin Gaye" to reach atop on iTunes in a couple of hours though~

Anyway, there's a remix package of "How Deep Is Your Love" out (it should be considered that the original release of the Calvin and Disciples track was today, so I assume it was planned), so I hope it could help with the sales.

I don't mind it, yes it's cheesy and will attract a lot of hate but I don't care about that when we had a few horrors at #1 this year already.

The new Kylie track looks likely to miss out on a place in the official top 200 next week by the looks of things and Sarah Harding is looking to do even worse. cry.gif It leaves it hard to predict how Sarah Harding will perform with her album when released, id like her to manage a top 40 album at the least.

The Rita Ora/Chris Brown song could have been so much better.

Even the Charlie Puth song isn't THAT bad, just a little dull.

YAY for Charlie Puth dance.gif Delighted to see this is heading to #1, said right from the second I heard it I knew it was gonna be a future chart topper.

Poor Sarah though. Expected, yes, but not nice all the same. 'Threads' is a good song, no 'Beat of My Drum' but it's better than a lot of what Cheryl's put out in recent times.

Tough Love doing a LOT better than I thought so far, I'd love for this to scrape a top 40 position.

Based on its pre-orders I was anticipating 70something for it (though that still may happen).

I always do wonder what would have happened if Javine had ended up in Girls Aloud as it did come down to Sarah and Javine for the final place in the group and a lot of people were shocked when Javine never made the group. It would have probably been a compelty different group.

Interesting to see Rita Ora doing relatively well from OA/OS, especially so soon after "Poison" was released. Nothing spectacular as far as I'm concerned, but it'll probably grow on me. Guess the label were keen to get the Chris Brown collaboration out there, though I reckon we'll get another single promoted on the X-Factor live shows (no Chris Brown in the UK remember).

Quite. I wouldn't even know who 'Sarah from Girls Aloud' was if it wasn't for being in close contact with Jay and Joseph every day. At best she'd be 'one of the ones that wasn't Cheryl'.

Poor her though, it can't be nice to get rejected this embarrassingly.

Poor Only The Young, I'm guessing it will just manage top 100 but I don't think it will do anything else unless they have incredibly strong physicals.

WOW at Sarah Harding though!

I think releasing it independently gave Alesha the power to have it ineligible if she decided.

Although on the other hand, this won't be showing up on the chart anyway so she won't need to go to such trouble. laugh.gif

Come back when Jess Glynne's had over 12 years in pop music and is still getting hits xx

Seriously though, Jess matching the record so soon would be a bit :/ but if any song of hers does it, this should be the one as it's her best yet by a MILE imo. I don't think it will make it though - even if it's #1 on sales and misses out due to streaming.

Posted by: 『bré』 10th August 2015, 09:58 PM

I can't see 'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' getting to #1 after never even cracking the top 100 on pre-orders (AFAIA), I'm sure Charlie will still be selling more than well enough in week 2.

I think we actually could be seeing the end of held-back releases (at least on a major scale) for real this time, the fact there have been some SUCCESSFUL OA/OS releases (Calvin and 1D) this time should hopefully stop labels from immediately saying it doesn't work and giving up.

#47 Real Love
#40 Hold My Hand

I don't mean to be negative, and I know pre-orders are underperforming as of late, but this doesn't bode very well for Don't Be So Hard On Yourself. Which is a shame, because I personally would have liked to see it it number one.

At the end of the day, it's not surprising to see a Pop song at #1 on the Pop chart laugh.gif

I'd rather Jess Glynne got there too, but she really needs to put something different out if she wants a long career. This song is a sign her 'sound' has crossed over, but fans are going to want more of the same from a second album. If that's releases in two years time, then the trends in Pop would have moved on.

This is the first occasion of a dance track (that isn't a big dance DJ like Calvin) that would've been expected to do very well being released without a pre-order. Let's see if radio picks it up!

Demi top 200 with still nearly 3 weeks until release! Maybe she could grab that #1 instead of Rachel (or Felix Jaehn) staying there for two weeks ohmy.gif

Posted by: SHADE RATE ADAM 11th August 2015, 10:15 PM

Yay Sigala top 100 on the pre's! :cheer.gif should be an *easy* #1.
Would love for FS to get to #1 too and Intoxicated is STILL not released yet? drama.gif
Oh and Maroon 5 is going to flop (like a motherf***er) sad.gif

I really hope OA/OS works for Watermat! All My Love is incredible :'(

Do pre-order positions really indicate how well/poor a song does in the charts?

They've been fairly poor indicators as of late!

Posted by: steve201 11th August 2015, 10:58 PM

They just make themselves poor indicators as they are too stubborn with their release and are held back too long!

Posted by: mr_pmt 11th August 2015, 11:04 PM

Is that an indication 'Intoxicated' could go top 10? I'd really love that, it's so good!

20. Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly

I'd love to see Watermat go top 40 but I can't see it happening unless it gets airplay and a video...

I kind of hoped they'd just put it up as a pre order but I could be wrong

So happy to see Galantis smashing in the top 20, I'd love this to give them another top 10

Posted by: ML Hammer95 12th August 2015, 10:18 AM

21. Fetty Wap - Trap Queen

This is holding up remarkably well cheer.gif I think this could go down as one of the most loved songs of 2015.

66. Dr Dre - Talking To My Diary

Seemingly the highest track from his Compton album. Such a legend wub.gif

Watermat yes!

With such a bleak pre-order list, it's no wonder why all these OA/OS tracks are doing so well/building to decent peaks.

Posted by: Liаm 12th August 2015, 08:13 PM

Nope, it's 99p

EDIT: I know I searched for it on iTunes a week ago and it wasn't there (not even up for pre-order) so it must have just recently been released

Posted by: Robot 12th August 2015, 09:05 PM

You'd think this stands a chance at #1 once it gets airplay, surely! This rise has been very organic and she's not really much of a fanbase act yet so the signs are pointing that way.

DELIGHTED. It's pretty generic but that's no bad thing to me personally, so catchy and reminds me of the sort of songs that smashed in 2010 that you all probably hated.

Posted by: James1987 12th August 2015, 09:21 PM

Sounds like a cheap "What's My Name" to me, but I agree that's not bad. Should stand out nicely on the chart show and on radio in general so I'm looking forward to that. The unexpected and rapid climb is brilliant to see!

Pia has been hammered on Kiss FM (which doesn't share it's data with Compare). Kiss is the biggest station in the younger demographic after Radio 1 and Capital.

Hopefully Radio 1 and Capital jump on board now.
