The record may well be beaten this week, but does anyone know who the oldest artist to reach #1 is?

Tom Jones, who was 68 when the Comic Relief cover of 'Islands in the Stream' charted at #1.

Cher is the oldest woman to score a #1 (52 when 'Believe' was #1).
