It's being rumoured that 'Bon Appetite' will be the second single from KP4. Sounds like another great track based on that snippet! She's really bringing it this era. *.*
I'd release this within the next month tbh. 'Chained To The Rhythm' is still doing well worldwide but beginning to fall (it's down to #43 on UK Spotify due to the drake album).
Uh really, I was going to say please tell me that title isn't real (DREADFUL TITLE) but then the clip kind of confirms it and the track itself sounds even worse. CTTR grew a lot but it's still one of her weakest singles for me and this just sounds like a big misfire. I hope it'll be good because she rarely disappoints but the clip doesn't fill me up with a lot of hope
I thought it was Deja Vu?
Thw snippet of Deja sounda good, but her use of 'definition of insane' is that f***in stupid one attributed to Einstein. Um he never said that. And also trying again and again is NOT insane. It can actually be quite healthy - i.e training.
this is gonna be a raunchy song *.*
This sounds good, I've got a feeling I'm gonna love this track, I think she's just slowly revealing snippets on her social media though, I don't know if it will be a single.
I'm hoping this will be stronger than chained to the rhythm which isn't a bad song but my least favourite lead single by far.
Yeah, I'm happy for her going for something else with the first single but I must admit I'm hoping for an absolute belter of a Roar kind of chorus with her second single. No issue with Bon Appetite as a title, at least it's not generic and a title has never harmed anything. I raised an eyebrow at Ciao Adios but it's a bonafide bop.
I'm going to LOVE this era
Everything is pointing to the era being KILLER. All of her albums have been tbh!
I think this album sounds like disco through and through :/
Disco is over.
Remember Heartbreak on Hold, the last experiment with a disco album?? :///
A moderate hit tbh that will be outpaced by Ciao Adios...
I don't get this comparison at all? Chained To The Rhythm was an instant hit, top 10 from the very first week. Ciao Adios took time to build because it's airplay has only just picked up and it's been reduced to 59p, there's no real comparison because they've both becomes hits at different stages in their time span.
Hearing a few people here and there say this might be featuring Ariana Grande, not entirely sure why.
It sounds catchy, I can't wait to hear it in full.
Omg that would SLAY *.*
Definitely here for an Ariana feature! *.* I think having Ari on the second single would really help it therefore giving a good launch to the album.
Just got this sent to my email from her mailer.
Friday?
I'M READY
imagine if those are the lyrics
OMG YAS I am perched *.*
I SCREAMED
This is gonna be a bop, I can feel it *.*
This Is How We Do vibes
How do we sign up for this mailer?
Ft Ariana and out this Friday
I AM NOT READY !!
I'd guessed there's be an Ariana collaboration based on the symbols thing she did with the bunny ears but I didn't think we'd get it as the second single *.* Yassss
This could be a #1 debut now, no?
OMG YASSSS! So ready for this!! <3
JESUS MARY AND JOSEPH I AM NOT READY
Wait! Is Ariana Grande confirmed on "Bon Appétit"? I only thought it was a rumour.
I just hope they don't try to outsing each other like Jessie and Ari in 'Bang Bang'. Otherwise, I'm excited.
Ew at that screech-off, like that Screech ft Screech Russ from Open Our Mouths Too Much band in their screech off!!
But Katy hasn't got a loud voice - it's more of a soft voice, so she won't try to compete.
Yes, as she has a soft voice.
I think their voices will be great together and will compliment each other nicely. In a similar way to the Miley Cyrus/Ariana duet!
SO excited for this now.
Ooooh ooh oooooh! Excite.
'Chained To The Rhythm' is alright and all, but I want something PROPERLY great for the second single please.
The snippet sounds great and huge!!!
'Chained' was a good second/third single so I'm HOPING this is the absolute pop banger we all know she's capable of!
That artwork is awful
But yeah apparently Ariana was replaced last minute with Migos, what a downgrade :')
LMAO WHAT!!WHYYY!!
That artwork is a single killer.
This is giving me huuge Artflop teas.
LOL
Wait Ariana was just a rumour and it's actually Migos on it? Even more excited for this now!!
I realise I'm in the minority here but it's great to see Migos get another prominent feature.
omg that's brilliant
All the stans will be so disappointed x
I have no problem with Migos but when you compare that with an Ariana collab :') That artwork ;o
Why on Earth would they "downgrade" to Migos from Ariana, last minute?! That's so bizarre. Maybe Ariana's camp changed their mind? (I still believe she was meant to feature on 'Touch' by Little Mix, but that info got leaked early too (just like this) :')
Crushed.
Crushed again by the artwork.
The artwork is GREAT and I'm excited by the Migos feature, even if I'm in the minority :')
I'm sure an Ariana feature would've been a more obvious hit though!
Well my excitement levels went from 100 to pretty much 0 I'd love to know what actually happened with Ariana because there's no way you "downgrade" from her to Migos I mean, Kanye or Jay-Z, I suppose I'd kinda get it...but MIGOS?!!
Was Ari even confirmed? Could've just been a rumour...
Migos are huuuge in the US right now and they're having an amazing year, way more exciting than a Jay-Z feature would be, definitely
Yep I'm with Jase. Really hyped for this and now it's just completely dropped
I'm sure it'll still deliver, but I had my hypes up a bit too much for Ari! Haha. </3
I'll get over it in an hour. Looking forward to it still
I agree with Brer tbh -will be crap.
A bunch of black men reaching for a white woman serving herself up on a platter. Who on earth thought this was a good idea???
As for that Annie Lennox haircut too.
I assume it's Migos who are the hands?
I like the artwork. The preview of the song also sounded good.
I'm just a bit confused about this supposedly woke popstar working together with a group that made a homophobic statement.
Yeah, it is a shame about the Ariana feature. I like cheesy Katy but everything from the snippet, title, lyrics tease and artwork is just TOO cheesy for me and the Ariana feature was all that had me hyped. Migos are like the least interesting rappers around too, they could've gotten anyone else! Even Fetty Wap or someone
f***ING MIGOS
Ffs I was so excited for Ari but I suppose it was a bit too good to be true.
MIGOS?!?!?!
This is going to be the most hated single on here
the preview sounded like full ON summer anthem
expecting a massive tune
why are bj so full of natural dread for migos? i can't recall a song of theirs
AS IF she's congratulating nonsensical stans for baking actual cherry pies, lattices and all
know a metaphor, this isn't mary besza
Even worse than CTTR if that's possible.
This is awwwwful
Can't believe I put this at the top of my hype chart!
The worst thing Katy has ever released for sure.
Official Audio:
Why isn't the entire thing like the last minute of the song? It feels sort of incomplete saying all that.
Just as expected, everyone here hates this song, which means the general public will lap this up.
Not as instant as CTTR for sure but the production is great!
To think the initial reaction here is worse than Rise...
it takes a while to get going doesn't it? 🦃
It's ok but a bit nothingy. Sort of catchy?
Will give it time but atm I'm not loving it.
f*** me, what is she thinking with this?
Really liking this. Nothing amazing on first listen but definitely one I'll be listening to a lot 💃🏼
This is disappointing af
Rise is way better than this on 1st listen and I actually think I'll still think that in a few months as well, this doesn't sound like it'll grow at all
Omg this is a mess, takes ages to get going and is hardly catchy, just cringey! Can't believe she went to this after the interesting lyrics on CTTR.
No idea what to think of this. It's not particularly good, but I wouldn't call it bad either.
I WANT MORE WOKE POP.
Its alright, just not something I see myself returning too. Odd that she's gone for two featured rappers for both pre-album releases toooo.
The chorus is catchy... It's not bad but it's certainly not a pre-album single to build the campaign :/ I really can't see this being a hit at all, I do love the production though. It sort of feels like it should be random electronic producer ft. Katy Perry & Migos and be a one-off single rather than her own single.
im heartbroken this isn't woke :'(
i was pleasantly surprised by how much i liked the migos bit tho
Bone app the teeth babeh
Why does this take two minutes to get going?
awful
Didn't she literally do an interview last week about being over faceless pop without a 'message?'
This is one of her weakest singles ever, how could she follow up the infinite bop CTTR with this? Don't even think Ariana could save it
Can't wait for y'all to catch up and be bopping in a month
I too am a bit undecided. As others have said, the chorus production is very good but it does take a good 2 minutes to get going and it doesn't seem like a solid pre-album release. I could definitely see it growing and becoming a right bop when out in the club, but I'm just so used to Katy Perry delivering instantly catchy songs.
Sounds like the worst thing she's ever pushed as a single quite easily and doesn't sound like a hit. Who gave this the go-ahead?
This won't be a hit but I really love it.
Surprised by how negative the reaction here seems to be! First listen I was a bit unsure but second listen it's a total bop, not one of her best but very addictive.
Yeah, I feel like I am gonna be one of the only ones stanning for this.
I think it's a complete jam. That chorus is so yummy.
This is isn't really to my taste But at the same time this album at least sounds a bit different from what she's done before and I can only credit her for that. Definitely think we're gonna get single 3 before the album now though.
I'm loving it too. So catchy.
Can't wait for the video too, it suits a really fun, colourful California Gurls/This is How We Do style video which Katy always does so well.
I don't think it's a wise single choice and it's one of her least instant for me but that aside, this is SO addictive. No matter what style she experiments with, she never ever loses an earworm of a chorus which makes everything she does have such a replayable factor. This is the same, it really delivers as a grower and I love Katy when she's naughtier like this <3
Too much hate
OK maybe I was a little harsh because it is growing and the chorus is fairly catchy. The rap verse is rly forgettable tho and the song does take too long to get into the swing of things, it is a bit of a disappointment after CTTR.
Do we think this genuinely has a shot at being a hit? I think it's going to be a massive flop tbh as it is kinda messy (but then Swalla is currently s huge hit so not that matters ) and I'm worried for her chances of a hit single/album following this as we've seen with Gaga how quickly radio can drop you. I know it sounds really pessimistic but I just don't feel confident that it's the huge hit that she could've done with at this stage in the campaign
Heard 'boner petit' once and can't unhear it now 🙃
Considering her last second single was Unconditionally, Bon Appetit should be hailed as a success. In all seriousness, I think it's a definite grower, whereas CTTR was mega instant.
i really want to love this because i love the disco sound and despite not being really enthusiastic about this yet, it hasn't dampened my excitement for the album as a whole!
I'm liking this, I agree it's not as good as 'Chained' but it's not half as bad as people here are making out.
It's not very instant, it's just a bit there. It doesn't really go anywhere! A huge disappointment after CTTR
I agree with the people who say that they like it but that it doesn't really go anywhere and takes a while to get going. I feel like it's missing something. The chorus is nice but could use a more explosive production. The verses are underwhelming.
I like it more than CTTR
But I agree that chorus from 2:15>>>>>the rest of track.
oh and just checked itunes positions (I know it's irrelevant these days lol) but seems like it got a very slow start
She is over tbh. No wonder she is crying. She has realised, like GaGa, she can't put out any ol crap after a long break, have awful styling and pretentiousness and expect to still be huge.
Who'd have thought in 2013 that 3 years later Katy and GaGa would be little more relevant than Britney and Christina, but with GaGa having the Britney hits still!
This is her Art Flop.
this serves her for making fun of Britney's breakdown etc etc.
This is terrible what a disappointment after 'Chained To The Rhythm' was so good.
I don't see how CTTR could conceivably be called a flop?
I do however think this is the moment it all starts to go disastrously wrong for her.
Yeah this is growing on me exponentially *.* It's a bop but I really can't see it doing anything other than bombing It'll get to like #25.
Eeh it seems to be really underperforming everywhere on iTunes. She should pull the plug on this single.
I really think the inevitable hot mess of a video will be what pushes it up the chart, so until then I think it'll flounder for a couple of weeks.
i don't understand how her "looks" are coming into anything at all? i think she's looked amazing this era (not that that should even matter anyway!)
bon appetit i'm done
This might genuinely already be in my top 10 Katy songs.
It really gives me 'This Is How We Do' vibes, weirdly!
Once again this homophobic witch shows her TRUE COLOURS.
~~ I hope Kesha can make a miraculous come back tbh to show has-beens like Katy and GaGa how it's done ~~
A non-rap version of the track has been sent to US radio. The length is 3:41 min.
Help this is already growing on me
This is growing on me, completely unexpectedly! Kinda loving this and can see it being pretty big after a few more listens
Sorry this song is a bop to me took me 2 listens but i'm loving it but I do think it will be one of those songs that either becomes a big hit or flops hard !
Absolutely f'n dreadful. Gutted
I am also enjoying this a lot more after actually finding myself going back to it. It is still too slow to get going though.
Re her looks, she's made all this comments about 2007 Britney which means people are now taking the fun out of her and thinking she's having 'her' Britney moment. I do think there's something MORE going on under the surface, I have been seeing people saying she doesn't want to be 'Katy Perry' anymore.
OMFG, Temporary BuffyCharmed you are right tbh. She HAS shaved her head and rejected her old music!!
This might actually BE her Britney moment.
If it's lucky.
http://www.towleroad.com/2017/04/katy-perry-bon-appetit-homophobic/
Homophobic loving witch's true nature revealed!
Tbf given it's pre album it would be easy to brush it off as promo single if it really does that badly, a la American Oxygen by Rihanna for example. I think it's a bit ott to assume that this one flop will kill her career dead
This is a f***ing tune and you all need to deal.
#1, #10, #100, I couldn't give a f*** where she peaks. I'm f***ing drunk and over this shit and I'm tellljbf you this sounds amazing at pre's.
Gonna have to stay of Twitter for this era though, she's getting so much hate. I've seen a few people seem genuinely so hateful towards Katy and I'm just like R U OK PSYCHO? Lmaooo get. A. GRIIPPPPP.
Spread me like a f***ing buffet, I'm taking all the contents this song has to offer. And I want dessert. Bye.
IT'S FINALLY GROWN
probs due to robs promo on his Snapchat xoxox
can we stop this comparison to 2007 Britney though??? Discussing a celebrity's mental health this way is trivialising and if what ya'll are saying is true then
I'm so here for this, the production is FIRE and Migos somehow don't ruin it. I've never had good first impressions of her singles and somehow these two have hit me right away!
Okay yeah hearing it again this gives me Swalla teas except I find it decent rather than nonsensical.
I love it, I've listened a lot already.
im OBSESSED
The iTunes performance is tragic! Her name alone should have went top 10 on U.K. And USA iTunes considering how terrible digital sales are!
I'm worried for her this campaign, think she will do well but nowhere near as well as she should \ expected!
Looking at the Migos situation I think it's beem blown massively out proportion - they made a full apology to what they said (which was probably taken out of context), if they genuinely were homophobic they wouldn't have properly apologised to ilM.
Rob omg 🤗
Yeah this hit me pretty much from second listen lmao. Certainly not a Katy classic but when her standard for singles is so high it'd be impossible to maintain those dizzying heights. Still a major jam though
I think it's the first single of hers I've explicitly disliked, though she has had 2 or 3 clunkers (looking at 'Part of Me' and 'Rise' primarily).
Actually shocked at how this is doing, I'd have thought her name alone would at least get her top 10 on iTunes
Anyway this is a bop, not gonna apologize *.* It sounds like the type of song that you'd go CRAZY to when drunk as well, which I'ma hopefully try and see. Surprised at the fanbase reaction still being pretty bad but let this be ha gentleman I guess
This is growing on me with each listen
I'm on my first listen and I really like it. It's not a huge pop anthem so in that respect, it's quite different for her, but it's catchy and I really like the production.
ROB LMAOOOO
This is incredible! I love it!!!
LMAO I'm passionate about Katy when I'm drunk, sorry.
I'm not even sorry but Bon Appetite is an absolute JAM. Her best in so so long!
I actually like this. It's bit different but got a good beat. It's struggling on iTunes though. Not made top10 yet & fallen out of top 20 quickly.
KP4 = Double Dutchess Pt 2...
Loving this! Hot production and I love how naughty it is. :') Was really surprised to see a lot of hate for it here at first - glad that a few seem to be coming around to it now though. *.*
Rob's post is everything. Had to put it in my signature!
OKAY I'M NOW IN ADDICTED MODE TO THIS
Heard this out last night. Amazing
Genius song. I think as with most people here, it'll take it's time to grow on the GP
The solo version is 100x better.
When the base kicks in in the verses it reminds me so much of Showdown by Britney haha. Absolutely loving this tune though.
Jesus, who thought Katy'17 will flop so badly
after walking on air this is the best thing she's done
I bet this gets demoted to "buzz single" and the 'real' second single will be coming in the next few weeks
Still obsessed with this, it's quirky but a massive bop at the same time *.* Tbh it probably should be demoted to buzz single but I need to see what the video for it would be like first
#39 in the midweeks ;o
This apparently is on track to sell 17k first week in the US, which is 1k less than Mariah Carey sold with I Don't to put it in context !!!
Solo version
Still growing on me but still disappointed in this, I do like the second verse with the 'open 24' and 'world's best cherry pie' lyrics a lot though. Might be a bit pessimistic but feel like this is the single that could end her, such a misguided single choice. #39 in the mids is dreadful, not even top 40 in the first week, and we thought Rise was a flop?!?
She's over.
I guess now she's learned not to follow in Nelly's baking pies strategy.
3 years is a long time. To come back and experiment with EVERYTHING, with all the ingredients that made you successful, and spend the interim 3 years pie-baking in the kutchen away from the studios, is just a recipe for disaster!
Yeah it's not THAT much of a flop to miss top 100, it'll probably also go top 40, idk much about US charts but sales aren't high enough for 17k to miss top 100 I'm sure
Well you need around ~15k to go top 40 in the UK
She'll have better streaming, idk about radio but surely it wouldn't miss the top 100
Yeah I think that's it not overall Obv it's not been a streaming bohemoth but I think I saw it was top 70 or sth so that'll add a bit.
She needs to do a Rihanna ANTI when Rihanna saw Breath In, Breathe Out and those other 2, I forgot them, were flops. She re-did the WHOLE album!! She came back with more bops. They still flopped but not so badly.
She should have booked some promo for the first week, Chained was predicted for 30k in its first week before the Grammys performance which luckily kind of saved its first week and it ended up selling a lot more after that.
I think she's on track to miss the top 40 in the UK and maybe US.
Yeah it's top 60 on Spotify US streaming with ~350k streams a day at the moment, that means she's probably headed for around 3 million streams by the end of the week in the US overall, which'll work out at a fair bit more than 17k!
(it'll still probably miss the top 40 but I doubt it'll miss the top 100 altogether!)
Oh right ok, I have no idea of thresholds for chart positions in the US!
Can someone PLEASE ban Michael from this forum (and Gaga's whilst we're at it) PLEASE!? Honestly, I don't mind anyone who hates the song to comment etc.. so it's not about it being a negative opinion, it's just that his posts are so repetitive, boring and just a chore to read and really ruins my enjoyment of coming in here!
Gutted about it's chart performance! I really hope it doesn't get cancelled as a single, coz I can see this growing and becoming a bit of a stable hit in the end. Especially if the video was to be killer, like I'd expect it would be!
Can I just say (and I've discussed this with friends irl too) that it is actually so liberating for an artist to "flop" quite badly and then stop caring about charts and success et al. I've learnt it the hard way with Gaga an era ago and with Madonna too I guess (and Prince retrospectively). Once the stigma of them being mega successful goes they are free to experiment, be artists and do WHATEVER THE f*** THEY WANT like the artists I mentioned do/did. It's liberating not only for the artist themselves to get through a shit period and come out of it rejuvenated and free but also for the fans.
This is all hyperbole in Katy's case. It's ONE song, what artist hasn't had a flop single? But SHOULD this spell a period of ""chart flopping"" welcome it and embrace it and let her be free to do whatever she wants and actually ENJOY being a popstar which she seems to not be doing recently I'm really rooting for her.
I mean, it's first week is pretty underwhelming, but it's only 5 years old so I do think it's way too early to brandish this an outright flop just yet.
Exactly, it is only one song If you look at huge artists, Cher for example had pretty much a whole flop decade for most of the 80s! And even the likes of Madonna and Prince had flop albums, one song is nothing. Especially when she smashed with Chained To The Rhythm just a few months ago. It's so easy nowadays to just brush this off as a promo single if she wanted to anyway, I know the pop industry is fickle but it's not so bad that this would end her whole career by "only" peaking at like #38.
On a side note, it's a shame that the Migos feature is so redundant on this. All of her features are just so unnecessary tbh, the solo version of California Gurls/Chained to the Rhythm/Dark Horse/ET are all better tbh (especially the latter when they cut out the AMAZING middle 8 to insert a Kanye verse...). I can barely remember the last time she did a good collab where both artists actually provide something worthwhile, probably Starstrukk & If We Ever Meet Again for me!
Oh please, Kanye is amazing on E.T. That song is nothing without him!
E.T. is so much better solo for me, not here for Kanye's addition at all, same for Migos on this really. I do enjoy Snoop, Juicy J and Skip's contributions to their respective singles though!
Skip makes CTTR for me! The solo version of Bon Appétit is wayyy better than the released one though, don't know why they didn't just release that tbh. That's not to say the released one is bad, I just don't particularly like Migos's part
Don't even care if no one else agrees but this is probably in the top 5 best songs of her career.
I am obsessed with this, especially when it was played in the club on Saturday night! Went down well!
I've honestly not been this obsessed with a song since Shine by Years & Years.
i need to hear this out
Debuts at #40 in the UK Charts! Of course that is dreadfully disappointing but at least it's better than the first mids suggested it could have been. Hoping the A-list spot on the R1 playlist will help it out a bit though...
I just want her to drop the video. It's apparently got some weird stripper in it and will probably be a hot mess. I can see the song rebounding nicely when it's out.
Apparently it's being pulled as a single in America, because it's doing a lot worse there than here.
Very woke to scrap a single you believe in when it flops
Will we still get a video?
Who, knows - for the UK's sake I hope we do, as the song is showing signs of doing really well here with a push. I find it a bit annoying that they'd pull the plug simply because it is doing badly initially, and isn't living up to the songs from her imperial phase. All it takes is a good video for a song to catch on sometimes.
Million Reasons by Gaga wasn't doing well at first but Gaga was smart and kept pushing it until it was.
I'm not surprised really, for it to sell less in week 1 in the US than Mariah's I Don't is a REALLY poor result, Chained didn't do badly at all so you can't really justify this. Million Reasons was pushed post-album anyway so it a different scenario really but as much as I'm enjoying the song, its US performance is worrying
I'm not saying Bon Appétit isn't doing terribly in America, but I Don't was released with its video the same week, got a premiere on her reality TV show and a performance on Jimmy Kimmel, was the first single from Mariah in quite a while and it debuted at #89 while this is predicted for #69. Katy has thrown this song out and done nothing with it, it's the first time she's done that with a pre-album single. I know Mariah and Katy are meant to be on totally different playing fields, but still.
69 is awful!
It's OK. This is just the 'Bitch Better Have My Money' to 'Chained to the Rhythm's, 'FourFive Seconds' in all honesty.
She just needs to rethink her promotional tactics and learn to move with the times a bit faster. This is nothing but a blip. Every artist gets one.
(Still an utter jam and seriously in my top 5 songs of the year)
BBHMM was still a decent sized hit
BBHMM did a lot better than this!! I do think it can be saved in the UK at least but in America they've probably done the right decision. Opening less than I Don't
Tbh, that is what this era is reminding me of. And I thought BBHMM did so much worse than it actually did haha. I remember people saying Rihanna was "ova!!1!×#1" because BBHMM didn't go top 10/have instant success... off the back of a big hit.
I understand that doesn't explain why they've pulled the plug on this. They really haven't given this a chance at all and that's why I'm annoyed. Haha. So infuriating. Like Joe said, this is the first time she's not promoted the hell out of a pre-album song first week!
I don't get where everybody's gone, though? Surely she has more than 18k fans in the US?!
If it's scrapped in the US already then she probably won't perform it on SNL in two weeks. Kind of like Gaga not bothering with Perfect Illusion on her SNL slot even though it'd only been out for a few weeks.
If so, would Katy debut two new songs in the same night? I can't see her doing CTTR but who knows.
Quite selfishly, I'm hoping she drops this ASAP and acts like it never happened with a new smash single in a couple of weeks. I know it has chance to grow in the UK but if it's not even going to get a video due to no US release then she may as well just not even bother. I mean she had SIX #1s in the US during the Teenage Dream era and then two #1s with the Prism era which is still good. To go down to a #4 and #69 or whatever with the next is a little embarrassing. She just needs to bring it with the next release and then I think this can be swept under the carpet but I am worried for her career at the moment tbh
Katy is no longer in her imperial phase though, she's not going to get #1s easily ever again. Pretty much every artist gets to this point at some point, and as Haus said on the previous page, I think fans sometimes need to ajust to that reality to be able to enjoy the fact they're releasing music they want to release.
It may have had a much stronger rollout, but #4 for Chained is still fantastic, the pop girls don't get #1s very easily anymore. Gaga and Ariana's era peaks were #4s too. And underwhelming as it is, there's no way Bon Appétit would have peaked in its first week if they continued to push it, especially with Billboards, Carpool Karaoke, SNL, Music video promo planned. A new replacement single, no matter how good it is, isn't going to magically do any better than this, unless she actually pushes it a lot harder than she's done so far with, she isn't the name that she was, she can't drop a single and expect it to sit at #1 automatically anymore.
This is going to be her ANTI isn't it? Bet this won't even appear on the album.
They really need to re-think her strategy.
Katy Perry trying to pretend 'Bon Appétit' never happened:
https://twitter.com/em__holt/status/861264660531744768
DEBUTED AT 76
76 and lower than Chained (and that took a big tumble this week too), disasterous!
76 !!!
Kygo/Ellie's new single debuted 10 places higher....
I don't know how to feel about this. It's obviously absolute TRASH but i can't help but bop along to it.
What's happened to her, she used to release such great gems but since the presidential elections, she doesn't care and even coming across as unlikeable with her comments about Britney's breakdown and that terrible Miley Cyrus haircut and it's even affected her music, who honestly thought that 'Bon Appetite' was a strong single, it's terrible and ranks as one of her worst along with 'Rise', she's just given up.
Not really looking forward to her new album, despite 'CTTR' being quite decent, but even that's nowhere near her best.
Migos' part is my favourite moment in this song now. What a sweet potato JAM 🙌
I do think her presenditional involvement and Taylor Swift rivalry has had a rather large impact, debuting as low as it did worldwide is nothing short of disastrous!
This is much better than the awful imo Chained To The Rhythm and its forced fun chorus 'dance dance dance to the disco show'
It's actually dance dance dance to the distortion lmao
Well serves her right for collaborating with this trash rapper
what the actual f***
Oooh, wasn't expecting the video to drop today! At first I wasn't so keen on it as I was expecting it to be a bit more vibrant but I really enjoyed the entire thing actually. I like it how it balances sexy and funny really well, she looks HOT throughout the video but the next second she's getting her leg stretched and kneaded like a piece of dough I'm hoping this video can work wonders for the chart performance of the song!!
Also, I knew Migos wasn't one person but now I'm even more shook that it's THREE people
The most annoying thing about the video is that the hand and the icing don't match up during the title intro thing right at the beginning
omg the part where she's sliding into the soup and is being boiled is my favorite.
amazing
f***ing disgusting, disturbing and weird....
It's very very clever though. I love the twist at the end and it's a good comment on capitalism. It's filmed brilliantly too.
It's kind of the antithesis to 'California Gurls'!
I like the video, but I'm sure there's some sort of message that I don't quite get atm (I'm sure someone will come to a conclusion that'll make sense and I agree with )
Still, a very well shot video. It's classic Katy, with a dark twist.
Awful.
LOVE it, perfect for the track! Totally bonkers but extremely fun. Just what it needed to get people talking about it too.
love!
It's a shame about the timing for the UK, it's the worst day/time for video boosts as with the weekend, weekday videos are much better. Might make some tiny gains though.
Record company must hate her rn
I think the video does kind of work for the song, it's a hot mess for a hot mess of a song, but it is quite disturbing It's definitely going to be a talking point though and it can't do the song much harm as it's not got much further to fall. Exposure can only be a good thing, it's better than nothing and the song just being left to fail. If it still flops now it's not hard to pass it off as a buzz single
Like the song a lot but that video is legit vile. The last thing she needs right now is a weird and offputting video when the song's already not doing that well.
HELP why have I only just realised the three hands in the single art are Migos?!?!?!?!
I kinda wanna go cannibalise random strippers while blasting this song tbh.
I'm sorry but this song is such a bop to me probably going to end up being one of my favourite songs by her !
The video is surprisingly really good and does make the song a little more tolerable, she looks great at the beginning with long blonde hair, and I really like it's disturbing nature, definitely ranks as one of her most interesting videos to date. Song still SUCKS though. Doubt this will help it's poor chart performance though (may climb a few spots higher in the USA, other than that highly doubt it.
Mmmm I wonder if Hilary Clinton did win the elections , then it would have made a difference and Katy would start caring again and make great tunes again. Maybe in an alternate reality where Hilary did win and Katy pulled her finger out and brought out incredible tunes that would slaughter the competition and eclipsed the success's of 'Teenage Dream' & 'Prism' combined. But nope we have to make do with this.
But I'm not gonna write her off just yet, gonna wait and see what the album's gonna be like first and maybe we might get a pleasant surprise and the next single will be great and put her back on form (maybe). Just wait and see.
I've written her off.
Let's come back to her in a few years.
I really like the video!
Bit late to the party but that video is unforgettable. Katy excels with humorous/playful videos (even if this does look like a Jeffrey Dahmer tutorial) and BA gets so much hate.
I'm really obsessed with this video, it's just so perfectly what I love Katy for
This has suddenly clicked MAJORLY and I am hooked *.*
W O W . ! . ! . ! .
It's SO good
YES @ that remix amazing.
This is now firmly in my Katy top 3. So good.
And the Martin Jensen remix 😍😍😍
Finally warming to this, the chorus in particular is very catchy!
Really enjoy this up until Migos where it gets cringe.
Absolutely AWFUL performance So so cringe, boring, awkward and plain shit i'm sorry, you know I love the song too.
Gosh.
I really don't like the blonde pixie cut.
Same
Lmao awful performance!
Have you read the youtube comments of it?
'Cringe', 'Cringe like a biology teacher trying to be down and look cool with her students', 'why do popstars always shave their hair when they go crazy' etc!!
Also, urgh at the cheesy Rock.
Why do Americans always do that huge, fake smile randomly at the end of sentences?
Awful
Yeah. That performance really wasn't good tbh. I HATE it when artists practically whisper over the backing track. I'd rather they just full on mimed and performed the shit out of it or gave us actual vocals. Visually it was an ok performance though, I guess.
I far preferred the 'Swish Swish' performance (which I don't get the hate towards? )
Wincing so much at her during Migos' part... 😬
The worst thing is her clearly thinking it's 'oh shit' when it's actually 'Offset'! It's like 'Tinasha' all over again :')
I'm just gonna leave this here.

Apart from the stupid outfit that's the most Katy Pery she's been in ages. Fun performance.
lmao the YT comments are so funny. She's being compared to Zack and Cody's mom from The Suite Life That haircut was such a bad idea. She's also trying too hard to be down with Migos while she clearly doesn't know how to move.
LMAO at that Sweet Life comment!!
So accurate.
I loved that performance
She needs to release the solo version tho, that one flows so much better
That performance is SO much better. Everything is very cartoon like and everything Katy Perry is really about as a popstar and I think it shows that she looked comfortable and happy in that environment.
As a result of her performance Bon Appétit has been performing better in France than any other country. Still #7 on iTunes there and is higher on Spotfiy than it's been in any other country. (She also did Chained and it's top 3 there but that was already a huge hit there). Goes to show this is the kinda KP people are here for so it's a shame the US hasn't seen a performance like that.
Also, side note, her hair looks a lot better now she's dyed it platinum blonde, so much better, more feminine and suits her face more.
the Voice France performance of this is PERFECT staging / visual wise! sooo much better
I've done a complete 180 on this.
Still one of my favourite songs of the year. So many people seem to have done 180s on it but I don't see why the public didn't take to it at all after what was actually a half decent push. I can understand why her campaign is in pieces because people they expecting a smash which is what it deserved.
I hated it when it first came out, but the beat got me SHOOK when I played it on my bass heavy speaker. I have been blasting it - get it into the consciousness of the hotel I was in and now aroond me barrio. Every little helps!
It needed to be a third, out there single after 2 smashes, or a risky first single to have done well.
As if Meekul has started including Spanish words in his posts !! They were hard enough to understand in the first place :')
I've kinda done a 180 on this too. It wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for when we first got it but it does worm it's way into your head and the video helped me enjoy it more too. I can't say the same for Swish Swish though
Swish Swish is so so bad
Yeah, a song like this discovered on the album, with more time to get hype from growing on fans released later in the campaign, was the way to go tbh. Only problem was she had nothing to replace i with
Love a good parody even if this is a bit corny!
I saw it ages ago and watch it all t teem
This gets so much airplay in Italy! I must have heard it atleast 3 times a day just in the radio in the car or at bars etc. I've really grown to love this song, it's ashame it didn't perform better.
We're looking at less than 15k away from Silver certificatin. Get to streaming girls.
In the top tier of singles from her for me. Absolutely love it. Gutted that it did so bad, chart wise. But eh what can we do!?
I don't quite get what happened.
It WAS a huuge grower. Half of us HAAATED it at first, but I thought radio would still have played it till it clicked.
I think some slight tweaking would have made it a bigger hit. The beat of the final two choruses should have come in earlier, and the rap is too long. It is a huge single and I love it.
2 years after this flopped was released it has a sudden surge of popularity on YouTube over the past 9 days, really peaking over the past 2 days where it’s become the top 4 most viewed video (was 2nd yesterday).
Which has caused this:
I noticed that too! What's caused this?
I really loved 'Bon Apppetit' and was sad that it marked the beginning of Katy's fall from grace. I always thought that tainted people's thoughts on the song but looking around the forum it seems that it's actually quite the fan fave!
I remember being in the minority when everyone else was calling it awful at the time. But, fair few people came around in the end. But yes, I agree it was time and place for Katy that didn’t help the song. The first single after “the haircut” too. I don’t think it would ever have ended up being one of her smashes though, it was a little too unique sounding and the rap was too long for the kind of song it was.
Bon Appetit is still one of my Katy faves tbh
The video was just a little gross at points although fun (flamethrowering her tongue was just nasty) and the disastrous SNL performance and its memeability made it very uncool very fast unfortunately.
Why has it suddenly got almost a billion views?!
Yes yes that, but WHY now, what started the trend?? People were waaay too late to the party
For me it's always been her most underrated track, so I'm super glad! Unfair flop really.
Great song but I can totally see why it turned the public off her.
Was on Katy's youtube earlier & noticed Bon Appetit is now her 7th most viewed video ever - beating I Kissed A Girl, ET, Teenage Dream, California Gurls, Chained to the Rhythm and even Part of Me!
Her only tracks with more views are, in order: Roar, Dark Horse, Firework, Last Friday Night, Hot N Cold, and Wide Awake!
Interestingly (or embarrassingly) enough, Rise is also currently beating IKAG's views!
Sorry to bring up an old topic but this is one of my favourite Katy songs. I was so disappointed with how low this charted. Such a good dance tune.
This is genuinely the worst thing she’s ever done and the live performance of it too was a total career low as well.
Absolutely awful.
On a positive note I do sort of like the video for the song it’s clever but the song itself no no and no!
I really hated the song at first, but I've done a complete 180 on it since.
It's rare that happens to such a degree.
This little cult classic has become Katy's 5th billion viewed video on Youtube!
