It seems like every month or so we end up getting 3-4 new groups and with the amount of companies churning out new material in a given week, it gets kinda hard to keep up. That's what this thread is for! Each week, I'm here to give you guys a look at a new K-pop group/soloist that has recently peaked some interest with their debuts, comebacks, etc. Hopefully, anyone reading this will find a discovery or two.

WEEK OF 24 APRIL 2019
INTRODUCING: VERIVERY

Company: Jellyfish Entertainment
Debut Date: 9 January 2019
Learn more about them here!

VERIVERY is a 7 member group formed by Jellyfish Entertainment, the same company who brought you VIXX and gugudan. Consisting of 7 members, Dongheon, Hoyoung, Minchan, Gyehyeon, Yeonho, Yongseung and Kangmin, they came out on the scene with a charming new jack swing concept, somewhat resembling New Kids On The Block in their early days. In a pre-debut introduction showcase, their company developed the reality show Now Verivery: Real Road Movie, then the boys debuted with their first single "Ring Ring Ring". Since then, they recently released their first comeback "From Now", kinda following the same formula as their previous single.

They're cute, they're charming, and it's a nice flavor of K-pop that takes you back to the early 90's. Come show them some support!

WEEK OF 1 MAY 2019
INTRODUCING: NEWKIDD

Company: J-FLO Entertainment
Debut Date: 25 April 2019
Learn more about them here!

(omg so many blondes)

They've only officially debuted last Friday, but their work ethic and output says otherwise. Originally announced as a quartet back in the end of 2017, the group now consists of seven members, Jinkwon, Ji Hansol, Choi Jiann, Yunmin, Woochul, Seungchan & Hwi. Ji Hansol was a former UNB member (UNB was a temporary group formed by the show The Unit), and he's been using experiences with some veterans in the industry to help him and his bandmates with their own journey. Their debut single "Tu eres" is probably one of the catchiest songs production-wise, and it's got me hopeful for the future.

WEEK OF 8 MAY 2019
INTRODUCING: EVERGLOW

Company: Yuehua Entertainment
Debut Date: 18 March 2019
Learn more about them here!

Yuehua Entertainment's biggest exports to Korea were WJSN's Chinese line, and they're not as active with the group as they were before, but the company is willing to redeem themselves with Everglow. Take a couple Produce rejects, pair them up with four other girls, and give them a debut track that's as explosive as a BLACKPINK song, and you get Bon Bon Chocolat. This six-piece group, consisting of members E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha and Yiren, deliver something that's polished but at the same time goes knee deep in the dirt. As of now, this is probably my favorite debut song this year. There's just something about groups with Produce rejects that augments their appeal.

Fun fact: Melanie Fontana, who co-produced the song, also worked with BTS on Boy With Luv!

WEEK OF 15 MAY 2019
INTRODUCING: BVNDIT

Company: MNH Entertainment
Debut Date: 10 April 2019
Learn more about them here!

Just last month, the same entertainment company who brought solo juggernaut Chungha to prominence after I.O.I birthed their first girl group, BVNDIT. Consisting of members Yiyeon, Songhee, Jungwoo, Simyeong and Seungeun, their group aura is less in your face than other groups but they bring an air of classiness to the table. Their debut single “Hocus Pocus” got people talking and they’ve been improving their performance level since. They recently came back with the single “Dramatic” which is just as slick as their last single. Chungha must be so proud of her sister group!

Sorry I've been slacking on this bc of being sick sad.gif

WEEK OF 22 MAY 2019
INTRODUCING: CHERRY BULLET

Company: FNC Entertainment
Debut Date: 21 January 2019
Learn more about them here!

For a huge group that only debuted earlier this year, they've really made their mark on the current Kpop atmosphere. Created by FNC Entertainment, the same company that gifted us with AOA, they've taken a new approach to appealing to the masses by dedicating their concept to gaming and virtual reality. Most girl groups take the aegyo/sexy/girl crush concepts and run with them, but this is an inspired take on a genre that's existed for over two decades. Their debut track "Q&A" is high octane and futuristic, while their most recent comeback "Really Really" provides a more commercial approach to the concept. Maybe we'll be seeing these girls on top soon? The future definitely looks bright for them.

WEEK OF 29 MAY 2019
INTRODUCING: AB6IX

Company: Brand New Entertainment
Debut Date: 22 May 2019
Learn more about them here!

The first post-Wanna One group on here! This electrifying quintet consists of the duo MXM consisting of Youngmin and Donghyun, as well as Park Woojin and Lee Daehwi of Wanna One fame and Woong, a relative newbie to the Kpop scene. Don't let this fool you: Woong managed to hold his own amongst his relative veteran bandmates, and the result is a slick aesthetic that could keep Wannables thirsting for more (as most of the former members have gone solo). Since then they have become only the second 2019 rookie group to sell 100,000 copies this year. Great things await them, check out their videos below to find out why!

WEEK OF 5 JUNE 2019
INTRODUCING: ONEUS

Company: RBW Entertainment
Debut Date: 9 January 2019
Learn more about them here!

Speaking of Produce 101 vets, this year kicked off with some great talents to help kickstart the next generation of Kpop idols. Enter ONEUS, a boy band with a slick astral aesthetic, mesmerizing members with their style and charm. Consisting of members Ravn, Seoho, Leedo, Keonhee, Hwanwoong, & Xion, they've managed to hit the ground running and have already developed a steady fanbase from their two mini albums. Living up to their older sister group Mamamoo may be a daunting task, but they're proving themselves enough to keep fans' attention.

kinda got lazy with this since the debut pool started to dry up at that point but after a couple of discoveries I managed to find a couple groups to fill in the missing dates!

WEEK OF 12 JUNE 2019
INTRODUCING: GIRL CRUSH

Company: DAM Entertainment
Debut Date: 8 April 2019
Learn more about them here!

It's always pretty brave for K-pop groups to perform concepts that are out of vogue nowadays. In this case, we have nugu rookie group GIRL CRUSH debuting with a sexy concept four years after it had been milked through. I think a lot of the drawback from the sexy concept comes from fans finding out about how Stellar (another sexy concept group) were being exploited for their bodies by their company, but coming to the forefront as a dance group with similar concepts, they seem to be comfortable in their skin and own the concept. It's honestly been a while since we've seen something of this caliber (I mean hello, AOA? Girl's Day? 9MUSES? EXID during their heyday? heck even SISTAR did well with the "confident and sexy" concept), but I think with the right production, cinematography and promotion, they have the potential to become a conceptual successor to those three groups.

Memories fits in well enough with that mold, and honestly that's all the appeal that I need.

WEEK OF 19 JUNE 2019
INTRODUCING: OnlyOneOf

Company: 8D Creative [RSVP branch]
Debut Date: 28 May 2019
Learn more about them here!

OnlyOneOf answers the question of "what would LOONA sound like as a boy group?" Interestingly enough, the group debuted under another subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment, only separate from LOONA due to lack of resources. Thus, while BlockBerry Creative managed those juggernauts, 8D Creative stuck with this group. Jaden Jeong, the A&R director for the LOONA videos, also worked with the group, which explains why the descriptions for the videos are so artsy fartsy. Nonetheless, it's a slick effort for the septet, proving to be pristine and polished through and through.

Now to figure out what that video description means...
