BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Nathan Sykes ' There's Only One Of You'

New single from Nathan - I really like it and am sure it will be hammered by the Capitial group of radio stations. Hopefully it will help sell the album after the success of 'Famous'

Was hoping 'I Can't Be Mad' would be the next single but the above is probably more radio friendly.

I don't think it's strong enough to be a substantial hit but might add few more album sales though.

It seems like a stupid choice to me over 'I Can't Be Mad'... that song actually seemed to be attracting a bit of hype!

Yes it's an odd choice - it was also the fan favourite when Nathan asked on Twitter what everyone thought the next single should be, definitely a missed oppertunity as assuming this will be the last single from the album?

Already #131 on iTunes - could become a minor hit with the quiet January releases, the fact it will be rinsed by Capital and I'm sure like his other singles it will get the 59p treatment.

Pleasing to see his album has managed to stay Top 75 this week, it's chart run hasn't been spectacular (11-25-53-62-60-72-72) but I was expecting 57-Out before it was released laugh.gif

He's so gorgeous.

Hopeflly he can get another top 40 to his name, famous really grew on me and i like it alot now. His album has done so much better than i ever thought it would.

arrow up.gif #62.

Famous is still 59p, once thats finished its run at 59p I'm sure "There's Only One Of You" will be next, maybe in February.

Looking like this could do ok. It will certainly help album sales.

This is a really good single choice I think! It sounds exactly like the type of song the public will lap up. I definitely prefer it to Famous too!

Wow, will his albem end up selling more than ZAYN's?

Posted by: ___∆___ 6th January 2017, 08:30 PM

Single seems to have had an impact on the album - Back up 7 places to #65 on its 8th week

The album has only sold about 40k though which is still really bad. Its such a good album too but i cant see him doing another unless the album sells alot more.

Posted by: JosephStyles 6th January 2017, 11:36 PM

I don't think 40k is "really bad", I think it's actually decent considering the general lack of singles success! Just a shame it doesn't have a top 10 peak really.

Posted by: SeanGrey 6th January 2017, 11:42 PM

I am sure The Wanted's last album sold roughly 40K so I think Nathan's sales aren't that bad in comparison. The fragmented approach probably hasn't helped.

Posted by: ___∆___ 6th January 2017, 11:51 PM

I think 40k is great considering her has had such a shaky start to his solo career (He hasn't really achieved a hit - KMK and Famous spent 1 week in the Top 40 and OAOA only managed 3).

Before this album was released and especially as it was so close to the crowded Christmas market I was totally expecting a 56-Out kinda chart run so for it to manage 8 weeks in the Top 75 and 40k is amazing, the new single seems to be well received and I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get another single from the album or have it repackaged with some new tracks - Lets face it Capital and Global will keep throwing their weight behind him.

Posted by: mr_pmt 6th January 2017, 11:57 PM

40k is WAY more than I ever would have imagined, and not only that it's still selling too. I'm gobsmacked at how he's managing this considering how things were going for him previously.

'Word Of Mouth' randomly got certified Silver 2 weeks ago so has just managed 60k in exactly 3 years so Nathan is doing well to be on 40k after 8 weeks.

'There's Only One Of You' arrow up.gif 37 cheer.gif Streaming will go against him but hopefully he has some promo lined up!

Posted by: pippa 12th January 2017, 05:30 PM

I would welcome this to be a surprise hit. If it can do reasonably well it will give the album a boost. Like many, i feel his solo campaign has achieved much more than what was expected.

Posted by: ___∆___ 17th January 2017, 01:00 AM

#55 in the mids and up to #18 on iTunes! Nathan coming for that post album hit cheer.gif

Album is back in the Top 75 too at #69 after dropping out for the 1st time last week.

Posted by: ___∆___ 24th January 2017, 12:55 AM

He's not surprisingly getting hammered by streaming - #56 in today's mids however I wasn't expecting this to trouble the Top 100 so a 5th Top 75 hit is a bonus I guess!

Posted by: pippa 24th January 2017, 04:43 PM

For a fifth single he is doing well. If he could get get some promotion slots the single could make the top 40.
