Top 40 Chart Commentary



Kungs (pictured) is now all set to at least match a chart record. This week his track 'This Girl' alongside Cookin' On 3 Burners spends its eleventh week at #1, equaling the number of weeks Sigala spent with 'Sweet Lovin'. The current record for weeks spent at #1 belongs to Avicii, who spent the summer of 2015 at #1 with 'Waiting For Love' which spent 12 weeks there. With the chart being very slow at the top end it seems Kungs will more than likely stay at #1 for another week and possibly even overtake Avicii's record.

Kungs also improves in the chart with his new single 'Don't You Know', which is up to #12 this week.

In the top 10 this week nine of the songs are non-movers. The exception this week is Felix Jaehn who jumps nine places to #6 with 'Bonfire'. In doing so it becomes his fifth top 10 hit. Last week's #6, Armin van Buuren, drops to #14.

TIEKS re-peaks with 'Sunshine' this week to give him his first top 20 hit, at #13. The good weather this week has certainly helped and he may well continue to remain in the top 20 for a few more weeks. Another big climber this week comes from John Gibbons who is up to #17 with 'Would I Lie To You' which becomes his second top 20 hit following #7 hit 'Your Love'. KDA has a smaller climb, from 24-20 to give him a second top 20 hit as well following last year's 'Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)' which peaked at #11.

Danny L Harle climbs sixteen places from the bottom end of last week's top 40 with 'Super Natural', which is on course to give him his fourth top 20 hit if it keeps climbing. His highest peaking song to date is his debut #3 hit 'Broken Flowers', which went back to #8 following its re-release earlier this year.

Let's get into this week's five new entries. Frenship (duo from L.A.) jump from #71 to enter the top 40 as the highest new entry at #29. 'Capsize' was previously entered to BJSC but made no impact then, but has since proved to be a grower of a song since it started impacting on Spotify. Now that it's in the Spotify top 40 it could well challenge for a UK top 40 chart position in the future. It is their first hit and also the first for featured artist Emily W.

Steve James (electronic producer, also from L.A.) made his chart debut earlier this year with 'Renaissance' (feat. Clairity) which peaked at #35. His new song 'In My Head' (feat. RKCB) outpeaks that already on its second week in the top 100, parachuting up to this week's #30.

Møme are a group from Paris whose 'Aloha' (feat. Merryn Jeann) has recently become a minor Spotify hit worldwide. As a previous BJSC entry it peaked at #50 but it now re-enters the chart at a new peak of #33. It is their only hit to date.

Armin van Buuren keeps pushing out the hits, and 'Again' (feat. Betsie Larkin) climbs to #39 to become his sixteenth top 40 hit, and his first as Armin van Buuren presents Rising Star. This means he currently has two songs in the top 40 as 'The Ultimate Seduction' is at #14 this week.

Frenchman Tez Cadey had a #3 hit 'Seve' (also a former Danaelandan BJSC entry) in the summer of 2014 and hasn't had a hit since then, until now that is. 'Walls' (Summer Mix) (feat. Julia Church) climbs into the top 40 at #40 this week to give him his second top 40 hit.
