Yes, I remember being really happy the SG’s knocked them off the week after!

Stomp - 22 years old
Wow, time does fly by as this disco stomper got released in 2000! I really enjoyed this one and grew on me even more in the years after. Really happy it gave them another #1 and was certified silver in the end (I was worried it would stay high on the worst selling #1 list). Your thoughts and feelings about this track? I remember this felt like a complete surprise #1, I was expecting more like #5 or something - although as we all know if was a fluke and they luckily picked the right week.
I enjoy the song when I hear it, but I don't go back to it as much like I do with most of the others. |

It was a lucky #1 indeed. Though it is a make up for a lot of their songs that deserved the top spot imo (OFS, ITWYMMF and CR).

I was and still am so happy this was a number 1 for them as I think it's brilliant and it's soooo good live.

Indeed. I’m surprised that it ‘passed the time’ for me.

While I always loved it, it was less popular with other fans than I thought.

I think it has grown on people a bit more a bit like say you'll be mine.

Oh, I remember Gold! So happy it was #1 and sold very well at the time. Then the announcement of the breakup….And light up should’ve never been released tbh (single and album)
And looking at some of the numbers (After 23 years) makes me feel old |

I remember Gold and the Ultimate Collection (and the moment it was a surprise #1!)
I pretty much ignored Light Up The World and didn't acknowledge its existence, so I have no memories attached. |

Lol I totally ignored Light up the world too... after I heard the single I had no interest in it whatsoever! Still think Steps should do a proper camp poppy Xmas album where they record the classics and create a few fun upbeat cheesy xmas tracks of their own! The Ultimate Collection going #1 was the most delightful surprise, I don't think anyone would have predicted it happening, I didn't even expected it to go top 10 at the time! |

Yeah, luckily they managed to recover from Light!
Oh, I was expecting the UC to go top 5 actually. Not #1 with those sales though (as it was Gold with 1 new song )! |

I probably expected somewhere in the Top 10 for Ultimate Collection because there was a fair amount of hype from their reunion show and they did some promotion. However I don't think I thought #1 was a possibility!

I didn't think it was possible either considering how well gold had done, if I remember right did they snatch the number 1 at the last minute?
