Tove Lo predictably completes her ascent to the top in her third chart week, cementing her good year for me with the lead single from her second studio album, and her fourth solo chart hit for me overall this year. George Maple, Wild Belle, and M83 reach new top ten peaks, and a slew of new entries come in in the middle of the chart. Here's the top 40 in more detail, from the last 30 days up to 25/08/16:

03 Chainsmokers ft. Halsey - Closer [25-10-3]
04 M83 - Walkway Blues [5-5-4] [*]
05 Secret Rendezvous - Better than She Can [16-15-5] [*]
06 Wild Belle - Baby Come Back to Me [22-6]
07 Britney Spears - Make Me [3-1-7]
08 Katelyn Tarver - Weekend Millionaires [11-13-8]
09 Glass Animals - Youth [14-12-9]
10 Tayler Buono - Something About You [N]
11 Fergie - MILF$ [36-20-11]
12 Madasun - Don't You Worry [4-3-12]
13 Ariana Grande - Into You [17-18-13]
14 Kaskade ft. Ofelia K - Fakin It [27-17-14]
15 Honne ft. Izzy Bizu - Someone that Loves You [N]
16 Kygo ft. Julia Michaels - Carry Me [26-21-16]
17 AlunaGeorge - Mean What I Mean [1-2-17]
18 Mallrat - For Real [28-18]
19 Fifth Harmony - Flex (All in My Head) [20-24-19]

An interesting chart week this week. A lot of new entries in the lower reaches, some big falls, and some rises by default.

Tove Lo was always going to smash on name alone and the interesting sound of the song ensured it as a #1 for me. George Maple ascends to #2 impressively on her 7th week since impact, a rare long-runner for me. Tayler Buono surprises as the highest new entry, but I suspect she was hovering just outside the top 40 last week, as this isn't a brand new entry, just a high climber. Worth checking out - she has a sound of M0's Final Song to her - not on youtube yet though, so I can't link her this week.

On to the featured singles this week then:

I've seen a few M83 tracks from the new album on people's charts and in the multichart. None of the singles really caught me as up my street, but promo single Road Blaster was a chart hit for me, and Walkway Blues is my second standout. It has a feel of Daft Punk's most recent work, Beck, and almost a bit of Empire of the Sun - who I expect to impact my chart next week with their comeback single. I could see this as a single in the future.

Secret Rendezvous is this week's first left-field pick and a former #1 on my weekly chart. There's a bit of Solange sound here, some 90s R&B influence, and classic up-to-date modern production with a decent looking video too. Definitely worth the add to a playlist. Another one of those tracks that would blend in well with a radio mix of general pop, but for whatever reason, doesn't have the clout right now to get playlisted on the big stations. Secret Rendezvous have some other great tracks too.

New entry at #20 is the surprise comeback of one of my favourite bands, Warpaint. Usually known for their slower, psychedelic sounding chillout songs, this one's a bit more uptempo. Definitely more indie/pop-rock, and with some shades of HAIM in there. Pleasantly surprised by this one.

And now for something completely different. A touch of eurodance/EDM with Sandra Lyng's third entry into my charts this year, Moonrise, debuting this week at #21. It's more of the same as her usual work, summery, slightly acoustic-twinged dance music, with a saxophone-led hook. Very catchy.

Back to chill for Annabel Jones' Not Today. Almost a sound of Robyn to this one, with a bit of Marina and older Clare Maguire too perhaps. Very futuristic. The kind of song that can grow on you.

Last Drive for Tundran comes in at #23 this week. Similar sound to the M83 track this week, a bit of Phoenix in there too. I'm a big fan of this one. It enters the chart in its sixth or so week since I first heard it. The kind of song that would do well on a soundtrack.

And so to (probably) the most well-known name on this week's link list. Kate Nash, looking unrecognizable with a platinum blonde do launches a surprise comeback more than five years since her peak. It's a great tune - summery, light, almost remiscent of Paramore's pop album but less frenzied. I'm a big fan of this one and would love to see it put her back on the map. Good Summer by Kate Nash, debuting on my chart at #31 this week.

Moving to our final link, it's guilty pleasure time. I've been a fan of the occasional K-pop tune for about four or five years now; the high energy, achievement, and money poured into them are all pretty attractive and effective at making good pop music. BlackPink have just launched as the newest group on YG, one of Korea's biggest labels, and the home of the group that got me into K-pop, 2NE1 (soon to launch a comeback themselves this year). A lot of K-pop nowadays has some English lyrics and is strongly influenced by Western music trends. It takes getting into, but if you can get past the language barrier, there's some really interesting tracks out there if you know where to look. BlackPink debut this week with Whistle at #39.

And that's that until next week, folks! Questions, comments, discussion, all welcome :3

Hi Jupiter, here are my faves from your chart:

01 Tove Lo - Cool Girl [15-4-1] Hopefully this can become another hit for her
03 Chainsmokers ft. Halsey - Closer [25-10-3] Not feeling this as much as DLMD, surprised it's doing so well tbh!
07 Britney Spears - Make Me [3-1-7]
12 Madasun - Don't You Worry [4-3-12] Used to LOVE this back in the day, so under-rated wub.gif
13 Ariana Grande - Into You [17-18-13]
17 AlunaGeorge - Mean What I Mean [1-2-17]
19 Fifth Harmony - Flex (All in My Head) [20-24-19]
28 Kiesza - Sound of a Woman [38-28] This should have done so much better, in fact she'd be massive if there was any justice, a proper pop star!
40 Clean Bandit ft. Louisa Johnson - Tears [N]

Great stuff smile.gif
