Time and again I come back to this album of early American College Radio brilliance released in 1983.
The tunes are awesome and the lyrics absolutely chock full of teenage longing and lusting.
Lyrically the closest I can get to is an American Buzzcocks although musically they sound nothing alike.
The Femmes recorded a few albums after this but nothing came close to this.
From Add It Up to Gone Daddy Gone this was ubiquitous in indie clubs even as late as the early 90s.
I f***ing love this album!!!!
Better by far than the rubbish Gnarls Barkley version
Never quite been able to get into this album. My girlfriend loves it but for some reason it leaves me cold - except Blister In The Sun which is kind of fun. From that whole US College Rock scene of the mid 80s I always preferred R.E.M. and The Replacements over the Femmes
I need to listen to this.
This is the first you've chosen that I've never listened to... listening to the snippets now on itunes and it sounds okay but not at all what I was expecting, feels like it could be difficult to appreciate it fully in retrospect.
