New website launched today at www.sophieellisbextor.net - and she's given away something new too... QUOTE Hello Everybody How are you all? I hope you’re keeping well and that you like my new-look website. I wanted to freshen it up, as I’ve nearly finished making my new record - album number 5, blimey! - and it seemed apt to give everything a new start. I can’t wait to share the new music with you. I’m really excited about it. It’s not a dance record, or a pop record, but something a bit different. I still love dance and pop music and I will be doing more of that further down the line but sometimes you’ve got to challenge yourself a bit by trying something new. Let’s go on an adventure together! I wanted to give you something as a thank you for your ongoing support and to give you a taste of what’s to come later this year, so here’s a free download of a demo version of a song from the album. It’s called Young Blood and was written with Ed Harcourt who is making my record with me. You can download it at the top of this page. As ever, I’ll be keeping you posted on the website and my Facebook, Twitter and VK pages. I really do appreciate having such bright, loyal, lovely people as my fans. You have been so phenomenal in your enthusiasm and passion and I know I’m a lucky girl. The new album is for you. Here’s to a wonderful rest of 2013. See you soon, Sophie It's a very different sound indeed. Yet it strangely works with her voice, I'd never in a million years have pitched her aiming material that was a bit sort of Norah Jones in style almost, that's what it reminded me of. This should make for a very interesting album! This post has been edited by ThePensmith: 14th October 2013, 08:39 PM |

Knowing SEB, it'll be a long gap between finishing the album and releasing it.

That was my first thought too.
But now that she's no longer with a label I have a teeny tiny bit of hope that she won't postpone this record 3000 times. |

I think that comes with the territory with a new album from her now though, doesn't it? See also: Annie who's got new stuff nearly ready to go!

Oh gosh.
I am a MASSIVE fan as everybody knows, but after the agonising wait for the last album I won't be anticipating this at all. The new song didn't really grab me on the first listen, but I am glad to see her branching out a bit. A whole album based around 'Cut Straight To The Heart' (also produced by Harcourt) would be lovely. |

When she says that, it probably means we'll get it in 2016...

Its rumoured that she is taking part in Strictly this year. It could help her with the new album out around that time

She looks incredible (INCREDIBLE ) but I don't like the set of the covert, it's very "let's have a lovely tea break in front of SCD". And that font is awful.
Can't wait for the music though. |

There are two editions of the album coming out. One is a deluxe edition with hardback book according to Amazon.

I wonder if there will be any lead singles... Judging by the release date, the first single should probably appear at the beginning of December...?

QUOTE In January 2014 Sophie will release her fifth album, Wanderlust, a record co-written and produced by acclaimed singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt and recorded in just two weeks with a tightly-knit group of musician friends. The record sees the 34-year-old Sophie blossoming into an accomplished singer-songwriter, with its 11 powerfully understated songs showcasing a newfound maturity, warmth and songcraft. 1. Birth Of An Empire 2. Until The Stars Collide 3. Runaway Daydreamer 4. The Deer & The Wolf 5. Young Blood 6. Interlude 7. 13 Little Dolls 8. Wrong Side Of The Sun 9. Love Is A Camera 10. Cry To The Beat Of The Band 11. When The Storm Has Blown Over And a teaser video including clips of Young Blood, Until The Stars Collide, Wrong Side Of The Sun, Runaway Dreamer and Birth Of An Empire all of which sound LOVELY. Glad she's changed up her sound as the last album was a stone cold BORE: |
