congrats to Marshmello who officially has the biggest dance song of the entire decade with “Happier”! the song has also been the number one dance song in America for the past 60 weeks.

the top five are, according to Billboard

1. Marshmello - Happier
2. The Chainsmokers - Closer
3. Zedd - The Middle
4. Avicii - Wake Me Up
5. Major Lazer - Lean On

the best performing dance album came from Lady Gaga, although if like me you categorise her as pop then Daft Punk have it

1. Lady Gaga - The Fame
2. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
3. David Guetta - Nothing But The Beat
4. Odesza - In Return
5. The Chainsmokers - Collage

Avicii being top five amongst the more America-friendly dance pop is amazing to see anyhow!

Worth noting the caveats of this list in that it only goes back as far as the Hot Dance/Electronic Chart has existed, so it's missing 3 years of the decade and for that matter, arguably the biggest dance/electronic hit of the decade in We Found Love.

The other aspect is that like I think all of Billboard's decade end lists, they've based their points on weekly positions on this chart regardless of the strength of that week. So Taki Taki is a bigger hit than Get Lucky just because it had less competition laugh.gif

It's not me who categorises these though for what it's worth all five do fit in with the Buzzjack dance forum (the EDM producer driven pop usually gets put here regardless of how 'dancey' it really is - personally I'd say that top 3 are more pop than dance)

What a hideous representation of dance music that Top 3 singles is?! laugh.gif

'Wake Me Up' and 'Lean On' makes up for it though, being two of the biggest trendsetters in dance music this decade.

'Clarity' by Zedd and Foxes becoming a bit hit in America was quite a moment, unfortunately the Zedd track that makes the top 3 is 'The Middle' which isn't quite as good.

Unfortunately dance music apart from the occasional UK/European dance hit crossover hit seems to have been pretty much finished in the charts in America for a while now sad.gif
